Tomorrow 1 month na ako dito at di man lang nag ring telepono q for interview or kung ano pa man. Panay rejection ang na re-receive ko sa email q..huhuhu! I am thingking going back sa SG nalang ulit at dyan nalang mag jobhunt..I am confused na to hang on or give up na kasi iniisip ko rin hirap at pera na dinanas ko sa pag apply dito. Wala na kasi cashflow na napasok since wife is housewife lang..

Maaga pa ang 1 month Sir @troy... First month ko ganyan din, walang pumapansin except mga rejection emails.

All the best to you! Ganyan talaga kapag magstart dito sa Australia; it can be very expensive as mahal lahat dito and walang pumapasok na income.

If I may ask, what is your occupation?

News like: the slowdown in the Chinese economy which in turn will slow down the mining industry in Australia; as some of us may now, the growth engine of Australia is in the mining industry. Without this, affected lahat...

Also, layoffs everyone once in a while in the news for the past few weeks!!

Unemployment at 5.6% with it forecasted to creep up to 6% in the coming months.

It is really that depressing if you let it affect you but hey, been through this na rin before. My wife and I started in Singapore at the heart of the GFC; I started working a few weeks after Lehman Brothers collapsed.

Just prep yourself up emotionally... Kaya kung sa kaya!!

No, it is just me and the ex-gf...

She started working last week. Slowly, but slowly, we are trying to build our life eh!

I still miss Singapore though; everyday yan... Ahahaha!!

@psychoboy Well, seems you have a good start. You are already stable right before you start having kids. And then if you have a child, he/she will be an Au citizen already. Its easier to migrate w/o kids i guess. Kasi you have to consider a lot of things if you have kids like me.

@GoodLuckAU naku mas pessimist ako sayo. Im preparing for a year without income. Kaya todo ang savings at ang emotional and mind conditioning. As they always say, do not go to a war without having more than enough bullets. But i guess more pressure kasi on me as we are a family of 3.

Actually, payo rin yan sa kin ng boss kong lokal dati. Pumunta muna sa au bago magpamilya. Dun sila nahirapan. Actually, babalik sya sa singapore kasi di nya madala mag-iina nya sa au. Di ko alam kung anong rason kasi ayoko ding magtanong sa kanya ng personal stuff.

Pero mas marami akong alam na success stories. Kaya tuloy pa rin ako!! Meron akong kakilala na within 2wks lang may work na silang mag-asawa. Dala rin nila anak nila. So i guess swertihan din. Hope for the best na lang!

@olrac183 based sa mga nabasa ko you have to allot 1500 for 1st adult, 1000 for 2nd adult, 500 for every kid. This is an average breakdown of expenses per month:

1500-rent kung haus
500 - gas, water, electricity, internet
120 - mobile phone plan for 2
200 - petrol car (if commute mga 300-400 for 2 pax unlimited public transpo)
500 - groceries per month
300 - health and car insurance

So i think, more or less 3,000aud per month is enough. And thats also my budget times 12

thats why i was so convinced to go there. Though, we may not have same luck/blessings, the possibility is still there. I once read, you will most likely end up like the 5 persons you are with. Hehehe. Im sure theres something for everyone there, maybe not the one you want but the one you need.

thanks sa mga comments nyo. Nakuha na namin ng wife ko PR visa namin last month. I've been applying everyday ng trabaho dyan kaso wlang success for now.

Any tips on finding a job kahit nsa SG pa? Since mataas nga ang cost of living dyan, we plan to save up muna bago pumunta sa Au.

@jengrata best of luck sa ting lahat! \m/ and if all else failed, pwede namang mamitas ng gulay para kumita. I heard 10aud daw yun per hr. and that was yrs ago! Another local friend of mine who's also in the process of applying for skilled migration said that if you're willing to slog, you will never go hungry in au.

@jengrata - mejo mataas yung budget mo sa gas, water, electricity and internet...

grocery, nasa high end din... we spend around 300 per month; then again 2 lang kami ni misis.

you may also want to allocate housing start-up cost; this is for your deposit for the rent, installation charge of internet, utensils sa bahay, furnitures and appliances... Unlike kasi sa Singapore wherein mostly furnished ng owner ang mga bahay, dito you get it bare... As in no fridge, no table, no washing machine... mabigat ito, super... until now kulang pa gamit namin!

and yeah, cost of car since you have budgeted something for petrol - got a 2000 honda civic last week and it cost me $5600; okey naman sulit at it is very fuel efficient.

As for groceries, my 2yr old is still drinking formula and still in diaper. Hopefully, when she learns to use her potty then maybe bumaba na rin ang budget namin for grocery.

For housings startup, yes you are very much correct. Mabigat tlga especially the big items like appliances and furnitures. Need to save up for these as well.

Buying a car is basically on our list. Thanks for the heads up on the price.

nilalakad ko lang dati ang marina bay sands to little india eh... lolz!!

walkable city ang singapore so no need for car plus very cheap and convenient ang public transpo.
