How does Skill Select Works?

aoleeaolee SingaporePosts: 571Member, De-activated
edited December 2013 in Working and skilled visas
SkillSelect is based on an electronic two-stage process whereby intending migrants:

(Stage 1) submit an Expression of Interest (EOI)
(Stage 2) are invited to apply for a skilled migration visa by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC)

"Despite lodging an EOI, there is no guarantee that applicants will move on to stage two (ie. be invited to apply for a skilled migration visa). They will remain on a database of interested applicants ranked by points, date of application and occupation for up to two years. After that time’s up, if they haven’t been invited to apply for the visa, the EOI is removed and it’s game over – that application has failed."

Yes, dapat po talaga you have already taken IELTS and your skills assessed na kasi yun yung basis mo to answer the questions sa skill select and for the computation of your points. You have to REMEMBER that whatever information you provided in EOI will be used in the whole process of your application if and when you're invited to apply.

Here is the link to DIAC's skill select: http://www.immi.gov.au/skills/skillselect/

Nominated Occupation: Software Engineer (261313) - Husband is the primary applicant.

10.21.2012 - Arrived in Melbourne. This is the day that the Lord has made. :)
03.26.2012 - Visa granted. God is good, all the time! All the time, God is good! :)
03.23.2012 - PCC submitted and medicals finalized
03.02.2012 - Application being processed further / CO assigned
    06.26.2011 - Lodged Visa 175 application

2 years ang validity ng IELTS at Skills Assessment diba?

Anyway, I read from another site that the immigration is encouraging employer-sponsored visa types so what we can do is to file an EoI based on the standard points system, then while waiting, still look for potential employers...If you find one, just submit another EoI and replace the old one...at least your application will be processed faster that way.

hmm..oo nga...paano nman kaya ang mga 457 and 475 na mag process ng pr that time mahirap din kaya..?what do you think...halimbawa kung sa national eleksiyon dyan sa australia matalo ang mga nakaupo ngayon?do you think mag iba rin kaya ang immg. rules in which favorable sa mga aplikante...?is that issue is somehow affected by public opinion in which the politician is forced to make a stand...?like for instance..the previous administration binatikos yata kasi may problema ata sa immig. rules..this s only my thought....

    Hi, to all!

And you first need to provide an Expression of interest (EOI) application to DIAC before you can proceed with the visa application. No acknowledgement of your EOI you could not proceed with your application. Syempre you need na magpasa din ng mga usual requirements like IELTS and skills assessment together with the EOI.

accdg sa post ni @aolee, after sending EOI, you would have to wait for the Invitation to Apply before you can proceed. that's the difference based sa pagkakaintindi ko..

Anyway, may God Blesses us all to our application and journey down under.

Latest I heard was that the final guidelines for Skill Select and the new immigration rules will be released sometime in May...

So sa mga humahabol, ask yourselves first if you can complete all visa documents in 3 months...kung kaya, itodo niyo na ang pagpasa hehe...

    Hi everyone,

Im new here and planning to migrate to OZ as well. Can an agent quicken the process for immig application? Kasi nag iisip ako kng gagamit pa ng agent or mas OK kng sariling sikap nlng. At least makakatipid...your thoughts?...

That's a common misconception...(correct me if I'm wrong hehe)...agents will not speed up the process, they just make your life more convenient because they will do all the requirements for you (i.e. documentation, compliance, submission).

If you have the time to read the requirements and the time to compile them, you're better off doing it yourself (nakatipid ka pa ng 100,000++).
