Hi Everyone! New member here and a Permanent Residency Aspirant. Share ko lang yung current situation ko:

    CPA Year 2000
12 years total working experience. 7 years as an Accounting Staff and Supervisor, and 5 years as a Finance Manager.
No IELTS yet, just signing up this week with a review center.
Documents on hand are: Diploma, Transcript of Records, Board of Accountancy Certificate, Examination Rating from PRC. COE's are pending.

    My Questions are:

    1. With my experience, what is the most suitable ANZSCO for me?

    I will go with Accountant

    2. Required ba talaga yung syllabus?

    Yes

    3. I don't have the PICPA Certificate which was given during the oath taking and my license is currently expired, do I need to bother acquiring both?

Kahit ung prc id mo pa renew mo lang. Madali naman ngaun magparenew. Not mandatory but will surely help sa assessment.

    4. Academic awards ba nung undergrad are important also?

I dont think so.

    5. My sister is also interested in applying. She has 10years experience as an external auditor with SGV and now Moore Stephens in singapore.

I think maaring kilala ko sister mo. Pwede external auditor pwede din accountant.

    Thank you!

@tasburrfoot, yes and bonus is even much bigger. Sa pinas din i know konti lang mga CFA's as compared to CpA's and usually they earning a lot. Also, parang may exclusive society sila or something thats why parang na persuade ako i try but medyo di pa kaya ng budget and wala pang time. Part 1 daw is madali but part 2 and 3 are much harder. Nag basa ako sa ng analyst forum and by looking at syllabus mahirap nga. Passing rate also is generally below 50%.

Another interesting field is trading (traders) pero i think may mga tao lang na babagayan ng work na yun as its more like gambling and strategy.

    Goodluck sa CPA journey
I have done equity trading & fund management before (more than 1 yr din) I moved to Singapore; it is glamorous but very stressful din... :)

Will I want to go back? Di cguro...

Yeah, very grueling ang CPA program - from friends in the industry before, they allot mga 20hrs per wk of study daw. And we are talking here mga brilliant people ha!! lolz... :)

Cfa is chartered financial analyst. gold standard certification for finance peeps. Mahrap pagsabayin cpa at cfa kung posible man. frm and cfa pwede pa. Maganda cfa to complement kung mag masteral ka.

Hello po. I don't know if this should be included in this discussion. But, I want to ask what would be the better option? Should I continue my studies in Australia or should I just finish it here in the Philippines and take the board exam? I'm currently a 4th year Accountancy student. Our family were already granted a permanent residency visa and they are now residing in WA.

You are probably 19 yrs (or 20) - I would say leave your current university studies and do it all over again in Australia. The way I see it, walang value sa pagtapos ng PH degree as this and a CPA Philippines designation does not really count much strength in Australia. Added handicap is that wala ka work experience...

or you can take the diploma route (parang 2-year diploma course na accounting related din)..
tapos pwede kana magwork.. and then continue mo na later as BS accountancy degree sa University....

    goodluck..

hi @kakoo, mahal mag-aral dto sa australia. your tuition will depend on your status as foreign students subsidised tuition fees of citizens and pr. we are currently on a student visa, my wife is taking masters in the univ of sydney, and her tuition is $35k a year. her program is for 2yrs. the cost is actually enough to buy 2 brand new rav4s. having said that, think of your options. our cpa licenses from phils are not recognised here. we are already associate members of cpa australia and would be taking exams next yr. plus, you have to consider the timelines to finish it in the phils and the expiration of your initial visa entry. the tuition fees among universities dont differ much kasi regulated under cricos system. for bachelors, its way cheaper dw by $10k per year. I really dont know much pagdating sa bachelors. yeah, you could probably check them thru their sites. goodluck!

hi @TasBurrfoot, nagpang-abot lng ung applications namen. dpat kasi last yr pa kme dto. other option kasi namen ung pumasok as student. nde kasi ako kaagad nakapasa ng ielts bec of writing. my wife did on her first try pero nde namn sya complete sa documents. ako ang kumpleto pero ako ang nde kaagad nakapasa sa ielts. it took awhile before we have decided to pursue the 189. we are about to cancel our student visa nung bigla namn sya lumabas. so we flew immediately since nakafile na rn naman ung 189 and the semester is about to start na rn naman. yes it is very costly. but I can say worth the money spent namn. we got to experience australia for the meantime.

@pangrom0529 - I am curious why you need to go via the student route?

It is more costly rather than going straight for a 189...
hi @TasBurrfoot, nagpang-abot lng ung applications namen. dpat kasi last yr pa kme dto. other option kasi namen ung pumasok as student. nde kasi ako kaagad nakapasa ng ielts bec of writing. my wife did on her first try pero nde namn sya complete sa documents. ako ang kumpleto pero ako ang nde kaagad nakapasa sa ielts. it took awhile before we have decided to pursue the 189. we are about to cancel our student visa nung bigla namn sya lumabas. so we flew immediately since nakafile na rn naman ung 189 and the semester is about to start na rn naman. yes it is very costly. but I can say worth the money spent namn. we got to experience australia for the meantime.
I wish you all the best @pangrom0529; make full use of the connections built during your time as a student...

Connection will get you somewhere here in Australia; in a way, parang sa Pilipinas din dito except that hindi naman ganun ka garapal ang palakasan system dito.

To be very blunt, you can google the tuition fees...

Program you will be getting? It is your personal choice, pwede hair dressing if you feel like it. :)

    2. I don't have the PICPA Certificate which was given during the oath taking and my license is currently expired, do I need to bother acquiring both?
    3. Academic awards ba nung undergrad are important also?
    4. My sister is also interested in applying. She has 10years experience as an external auditor with SGV and now an Auditing firm in Singapore. External Auditor din ba pipiliin nya na ANZSCO?

    Thank you!

    @phil_ga; my 2 cents below:

    1. With my experience, what is the most suitable ANZSCO for me?
    - probably 221111; this is the most broad in the 2211 family
    2. I don't have the PICPA Certificate which was given during the oath taking and my license is currently expired, do I need to bother acquiring both?
    - not needed I believe but my wife submitted these as additional docs
    3. Academic awards ba nung undergrad are important also?
    - nope
    4. My sister is also interested in applying. She has 10years experience as an external auditor with SGV and now an Auditing firm in Singapore. External Auditor din ba pipiliin nya na ANZSCO?
    - external auditor

Apart from the docs you have on hand, very important to get a syllabus of your major subjects in accounting. This is very IMPORTANT for your skills assessment.
