Things to do first Before going to Australia

What to do before leaving PH:

Make sure you have at least a year left on your passports.

Make sure passport is stamped for CFO and visa label.
Www.cfo.gov.ph

Make sure drivers license is not expired. You can use it for first 3months. There are countries who are qualified for direct conversion of license.

Dig out all your personal paperwork, including birth, marriage certificates, employment references and qualifications.

Collect all hand-over files from doctor, dentist, optician, pedia for vaccine cert, children's schools etc.

Get your finances in order and consolidate bank accounts, apply for internet banking

Open bank in Oz and Transfer funds.

Request credit references from your bank, building society or any other lending agent.

Request up to date statements on any endowments, pensions and investments.

Pay off any outstanding debts.

Close any surplus bank accounts and destroy unwanted cards.

Shred any personal records you are not taking and dispose of.

Bring council tax and utilities up to date and cancel accounts for TV, internet, phone and insurance.

Put your house on the market.

Identify temporary accommodation in case your house sells sooner than expected and you have to move out

Depending on your tenancy agreement, give notice to your landlord if renting a property.

Arrange all your post to be redirected to a friend or relative.

Give your change of address to your bank, passport office, pension company, inland revenue, insurance brokers and accountants.

Sell your car, bike, van or any other transport you wont be needing.

Cancel car insurance.

sell any items you don't want to take with you, or donate them to a charity.

Consider talking to your employer about your migration plans.

Give formal notice to your employer

Update your CV to make it suitable for the Oz market place.

Start job hunting.

Discuss your plans with extended family and friends.

Start having Goodbye parties now as time runs away at the end.

Get quotes from removals companies and flights and get them booked.

Track down temporary accommodation in Oz/NZ.

Book accommodation for each destination on route.

Start packing non essential items.

Ensure all your relevant paperwork is in a handy travel file.

Make sure transport to the airport is organised and will arrive in plenty of time for the flight.

Pack activity sets and small gifts to amuse young children on the flight.

Get a good night sleep

tanong ko po tungkol sa driver's license....need ko pa po ba kumuha ng certification from LTO that I have been driving for years dito sa Pinas?...then, apply for WHAT license sa Au?...and how much payment?...curious lang ako...gusto ko din kse magkalisensya dun...hehe

hello po, for those moving to Aus, ask ko lang po experience ninyo sa pag pa ship ng things ninyo? any recommendations from Manila to Sydney? Like door to door services, irregular shape packages and if may other charges taxes po pagdating pa ba duon? tnx po.

tanong ko po tungkol sa driver's license....need ko pa po ba kumuha ng certification from LTO that I have been driving for years dito sa Pinas?...then, apply for WHAT license sa Au?...and how much payment?...curious lang ako...gusto ko din kse magkalisensya dun...hehe

Here in VIC, di na kailangan yung as they just refer our license number to a database in their computer. If you check your drivers license sa Pinas, it will indicate there the year when you first got your license.

Of course... Inferior kasi ang license natin sa Pinas kaya we still need to take a series of exams before we can be issued an australian drivers license.

Check mo sa NSW ano ang patakaran doon... Iba kasi sa VIC and iba iba bawat state.

Sa VIC, I took 3 exams (1) Theory, (2) Hazard Perception and (3) Actual Driving...

3. schedule PDOS in January

5. Resign from work Dec, effective January
6. Dental surgery in January
7. Open account NAB through online banking
8. Secure necessary documents (NSO docs, bank statements, credit history and etc.)

Comments and suggestions are greatly appreciated hehe

9. start packing things. sobrang nakaka stress sya for me. kaya the earlier you do this, the better

para yung nalalabing days mo dito sa pinas, eh stress free na

10. You may also want to add yung sa Pag Ibig and SSS contributions mo.
You may opt to withdraw or leave it para mag earn daw ng interest

parang investment na din

11. start applying jobs online. baka maswertihan at maka kuha ng job while still overseas

sis, ask ko pala. yung sa PhilPost, ilang weeks daw yun bago makarating sa Sydney?

... oh well cguro nagtaas sila ... maybe you can ask another phipost branch ... we did this twice never miss a beat ... arrived 2 weeks after ...

Hi guys, share ko lang po. I went to CFO office earlier to attend the seminar, kaso sabi pang-PR visa lang daw at PR visa holder lang nirereg nila. Sana lang hindi magkaproblema pag alis ko. 489 visa lang kasi ako. Couldn't wait for 190. Lolz. Hassle talaga.
