    Hello up ko lang

What would be the minimum cash savings in order to survive in AU for the next 6 months (worse comes to worst, assuming pareho kami ni mister na walang trabaho) for a family with 2 boys ( both under 3 yrs old) assuming our monthly rent is 1,400 and we live in sydney.

I know this is very subjective question, that is why I am asking the minimum cash savings. I am thinking of 3K-3.5K per month, but I am unsure if this is even feasible.

Medyo mahirap compute ang 1 month. Mas madali iyun masimula ako per week na gastos then multiply ko by 4. Lahat ng numbers are in AUD. Family po kami with 2 kids at nag aaral na ang anak ko na panganay na grade 2 while isa ay under 1 years old. Hindi ko isasama school at it does not apply to you yet and sobrang laki ng price difference depende sa school na mapili mo.

440 rent per week - 1760 per month
150-200 for groceries kasama na baon sa office per week - 800 max per month
80 for diesel kasi diesel kelangan ng sasakyan ko - 320 per month
50 for additional small items - 200 per month

tapos add 150-200 for utilities per month so estimate ko ng lalaro gastos namin at 3k-3.3k per month. Lahat ng gastos pag punta sa australia puro initial gastos lang tulad ng bili ng kotse tapos downpayment sa rent at lastly any shipping costs from wherever you are coming from to australia. Location ko po ay sa NSW and living outside of Sydney. Parang makati ang sydney at pupunta ka lang dun for work but in general naka tira karamihan outside of Sydney CBD. Kahit wala kang kotse ok lang kasi 15 aud per 30 mins parking sa sydney during weekdays while pag mag commute ka isang roundtrip na yun at may sobra lang konti for vendo machine hehe.

So tama estimate ng iba na kung 6 months ka tatagal dito na walang work need mo ng 30k AUD but in general makakakuha ka ng work after 3 months so tingin ko out of your 30k aud may matitira ka pang 10k AUD for savings.

Kami Provisional Resident Visa so kailangan talaga makaipon ng pambaon dahil wala pa kami makukuhang government allowance kaya kailangan makuha ang Pag-ibig, GSIS money as much as possible.

@rachelle_gan2 hi based on their website i think may makukuha naman pag PR pero siguro yung timing kung kelan mo makukuha, for sure by the time na makuha mo may work ka na. So you just treat it as added bonus and not part of your initial budget when you settle down.

Yes nakakakuha ako ng 3xx AUD every fortnight but matagal sila mag process.

But tama si mitchy_cpa na kelangan may work ka na kasi itong 3xx AUD per fortnight is a family tax benefit na walang 2 year waiting period. Most of the other family benefits tulad ng newstart allowance may 2 year waiting period. So kung wala kayong work for 3 months niyo dito sa australia wala po kayong makukuha kasi na grant visa niyo on the expectation na you will be working and paying taxes sa government instead of another mouth to feed for them.

When I first landed I stayed with a relative. Not sure kung may 1 bed apartment dito pero malamang granny flat yata tawag dun wherein isang space lang siya with no divisions except for the toilet/bath. Space of the house/apartment should not be an issue when staying in Australia but you need a car to be able to see all those options.

Pwede ko sabihin market value ay 4xx aud per week pero you need to see the place para ma guage mo what is worth that amount.

We are preparing to spend around 15K for the initial settling - for flat rent (advance 6 months kung needed) and items we need to buy. After that, we intend to spend max 3K monthly for those months (leading up to a year) na wala kaming work.

Figures are loosely based on what I've read in the forums so far. But knowing us - we will exhaust all possible ways para makatipid. We intend to spend a lot less than that. And we will likely get odd jobs on our second rejection-filled unemployed month.

Also din - not forgetting current, on-going responsibilities. We need to think about probably a year's worth of payment sa mga existing insurances and mortgages namin.

    *bleeding money from all orifices*

Ok na kaya ang plan? Hmm... :-?

    Hi Everyone!

For a single guy going to Australia, how much money should I bring? Matipid akong tao, so I can live with the just the basics to start out. I understand that I have to make this sacrifice as I start out.

What possible breakdown of costs can I expect in terms of food, rent, utilities, transpo, etc.

I would really appreciate thoughts on this so that I can manage my expectations. This is actually one of the things that I still do not have a concrete idea on.

Hope you guys can help. Thanks. :)

@lock_code2004 Hahaha!

I do hope na so much less than that ang kakailanganin namin. Enlighten me po if you think di realistic ang figures para mabawasan ang worries.

First priority talaga maghanap ng work, kahit anong work. X_X

I'm assuming kasama ang rent and initial expenses kaya malaki ang target nyong baon?
Mga less than 10K sguro ang gastos for the bond plus pagbili ng mga furniture and appliances.

@lock_code2004 Hmm... Ok. So mga 1.5K per month kayo dati. Share kayo sa phone? So same number nilalagay nyo sa pag-apply ng work?

Try namin achieve same thing. A lot better pa rin than 3K.

Pag public school kelangan yata bisitahin.

@GoodLuckAU - depends on where you go but here in Melbourne; 350/wk would land you a very good 2 bedroom villa.

start-up cost would be high; basic stuffs are fridge, washing machine and bed - these three would cost at least $2000.

    all the best!
