Kung type mong dagdagdan ang maiipon mo for retirement/super, pde mong kunin un as salary package. Nagbasa lang din ako tungkol jan from here hehe:

A Novated Lease is really super simple. Your employer pays for vehicle payments and running costs from your pre-tax salary. That reduces the tax payable and effectively gives you a pay rise - Even WITH the new car! Interesting, huh? Find out how a Novated Lease can save you money every payday.

    1. A Novated Lease is the MOST cost effective way to purchase a new car
    2. You don't have to buy a brand new car, used cars can be novated too!
    3. You do not pay GST on the purchase price of your new car
    4. All you running costs including fuel and maintenance can be included
    5. You Do Not have to use the car for business use, 100% personal use is ok!

@stolich18 & @peach17, based on the link you have provided is stated that car novated lease is just like car financing but employer is involve as it is a pre-tax. Which means after 5 or more years of paying depend how long you will finance it will be yours.

Novated lease is good if you always use your car or your average travel is 20K a year if not then it is better to save and buy it outright

@peach17, yes magiging maliit ang take home pay mo kng titingnan. But ung amount na nisalary package mo ay magagamit mo yan pambayad sa car pag ng novated lease ka or sa iba pwedeng e meal allowance or grocery or pmabayad sa rent. Kaso sabi mo sa company nyo Car lease and supperannuation lg so dun mo lg xa magagamit.

Here is an example again just in case nag car lease ka at hindi ka nag salary package. Let's say $150 per week ang babayaran mo for the car.

    Weekly pay: $1000
    tax : $100
    take home pay $900
    less car payment: $150
    left: $750

    Pag nag salary sacrifice ka:
    Weekly pay: $1000
    car payment(salary sacrifice): $150
    less tax: $85
    money left: $765

There's a difference of $15 per week for 1 month $60 difference.. So sayang din yan.

    Hope clear na sau to..

@peach17.. I have a clearer understanding na in regards with car novated lease, tinanong ko talaga ang kasamahan ko dito sa work.. Hehehehe..

Sa novated lease pla lets the agreed cost of the car is $30,000 then you lease it by 5 years. After 5 years you decided to own the car, babayaran mo lg ung available balance. Magiging sau na ang car, for example after 5 years ang total amount na nabayad mo is $20, 000 babayaran mo ang natirang $10,000 magiging sau na.

Let's say e lease mo lg xa ng 12months then after that kuha kna mn bago. Pwde pa rin.

@peach17 for now if di mo need ang car and mas needed ang cash, i would suggest wag mo na lang muna iavail. Unless there are other things that can be salary sacrificed (for example, house rent or food hehe) :)
Agree with this.. Ang magandang e salary sacrifice ay house rent, groceries and meal allowance. Magagamit mo kasi talaga ehh..

Yup ... better not avail it

Switch your water heater to night rate if possible. Shop at Aldi's. Try to get a place near your workplace so you can save on petrol.
@genki - I would like to comment lang on your statement above re: Iwasan ang kung ano mang mga utang tulad ng credit card etc.

IF you know how to control... I have mentioned this in the other thread that I have always been an advocate of charge everything to your credit card, the key here is to know your limits and pay on time.

Having practiced this for the past 4 years here in Singapore, I was able to save up on points and converted this into airlines. So ayun nakalibre ako at si wifey ng trips to Hong Kong and pauwi sa Pinas. :D

Apart from paying on time, I just have one active credit card during my stay here in Singapore. So ayun, I make it work for me... :)

By the way, this is a very nice thread, kudos to the TS @PLAC :)

    1. In my experience, supermarkets restock on Fridays, so every Thursday is kind of like a clearance sale. :) YMMV. I heard some stores clear on Mondays.

    2. Don't assume that things are cheaper at the market and in neigbourhood shops. Research if you have time.

    3. Lentil As Anything restaurants in VIC are by donation only. You pay what you feel like paying. I'm a huge supporter because it's organic vegan and mainly hires refugees.

    4. OP SHOPS!!! "Op" stands for "opportunity". It's mainly secondhand stuff, but the quality is usually very good. Chalk it up to fickle or fast-growing locals + heaps of international students coming and going + wasteful fashion industry (or retail industry in general). Plus, you get an extra discount if you donate your own old/unwanted stuff.
