I have an internal interview with my current company on Monday. And the recruiter mentioned about salary expectations for Business Analyst Role. Would anyone have an idea about this? What should I quote? My company is a very popular bank in Sydney.

About the job market, not trying to sound pessimistic, but medyo mahirap ang job market ngayon. If you heard the news nung last December, Holden will cease manufacturing here by 2017 and before the announcement they laid off some people (classmate ko sa 1 course was a manager in Holden and unfortunately nakasama sya but he was happy kc 18 yrs in Holden, he was able to get a package na more than a year salary and tax free daw plus some additional due to Automotive workers union pay something) , I think Toyota will soon follow pero wag nman sana. Qantas would be laying off 500+ workers, I heard IBM and BP also retrenched some workers, ANZ and Commonwealth Bank also had retrenchment last year , ANZ daw dahil sa outsourcing sa Pinas.
Sabihin mo sa hubby mo tyaga-tyaga lang, some were fortunate to land jobs in few wks, or ung iba swerte pagdating nla dto may jobs na nakaabang sa kanila but on the average yata tlagang inaabot ng 4-9 months lalo kung walang "local experience". Job market is getting tougher na din siempre your hubby will be competing with those people na na-retrench or ung gusto mag switch ng company, plus ung mga foreigners grads na dto nag Phd or Masters degree, na madami dn and ung mga dumadating na new migrants mostly from India, China.
Try again 1st quarter of this year , try to improve the CV, join linked in dami dun headhunters.

dpende yan sa state kung saan may ganyang field... i suggest mag check ka mga job online (seek.com.au)... and tingnan mo din ang mga state sponsorship kung saan merong available na state na nag sponsor ng ganyang occupation.. isa-isahin mo ang mga state immigration website..

last night napanood ko sa news, 1 job applicant looking for an admin job, she got 3 certifications Business mngt, etc and she's an Aussie, according to her she already submitted hundreds of applications, signed up with lots of recruitment agency but still wala pa rin so ang gnawa nya ngayon nag post sya na magbibigay ng $1K AUD sa kung cno man ang mag ha-hire sa kanya, so prepare yourself as it's really a tough job market nowadays...goodluck and all the best, need a lot of patience and prayers

I would say in-demand jobs in oz are in the healthcare sector, chefs, customer services and engineers who have specialized job items. IT still in there as well I think

any Pinoy here na nag wo work as Fly-in Fly-out sa mining? Pano ba mapasok as FIFO worker ? hehehe napanood ko kc yan ang bongga ang mga sweldo at sabi nga nung nagpost na tiga Adelaide, ung cleaner sa minahan can earn 100/hr. Naalala ko yung 1st landlord nmin is an electrician and FIFO worker sya ayun 2 na nga ung house nya tapos ang gnawa pa nya pinaparent nya ung mga rooms sa mga students avg of 800AUD/mo ang pa renta nya per room and gumawa na lang sya ng maliit na kwarto nya dun sa likod ng bahay. He can earn on the average ~$5K/mo dun lang sa rent ng 2 bahay nya but kwento nya nya 2 wks in the mine can earn him approx ~$10K.

hi @happyinmelbourbe34 im working for one of the biggest contractors here in oz doing FIFO. but not in the mines yung project ko, I am with the coal seam gas project (CSG). some aussies they call working in CSG as working in the mines din. Anyway, we have cleaners here but they are not earning 100/hr all the time, it might go up to that rate pag woking overtime lang or on holidays. normal rate as per the guys that I asked here is around 40/hr

musta nman po ang pagiging FIFO, ok b tlaga ang salary? Na feature kc sa tv ung 1 family, from father-mother pati anak e FIFO workers sabi nga nung mom e she loved being FIFO....... hehehe ok na dn 40/hr as cleaner if libre ung food at accommodation. Pero sabi nga nung landlord nmin OK ang FIFO but dangerous nga dn nman hehehe. Dahil nga daw sa FIFO eh can afford nya mg travel overseas 3 months every year. Nakarating na din daw sya ng Pinas and he spent 2 months there visiting some places in Luzon and Visayas.....sarap buhay nya

I like the FIFO especially the salary hehe it is like you probably get 30% more from the usual basic salary if you are working sa city. plus overtime and then plus uplift din around 10-20% p depende how remote the location is. one thing I like pa is the time off after mo sa mines. I am doing 3 weeks on sa site and 1 week off. the off time you can do whatever you want either travel or just stay back at home to relax. It is not dangerous as people think but there are some risks in doing FIFO. lahat naman ng jobs may risks kahit saan pa location mo, hehe. for mining and metals medyo dangerous kase yung dust and init. for here sa CSG it is more sa init. some companies like sa mining doing 2 weeks on 1 week off meron din 10 days on 9 days off to mitigate the risks and have more time off to recover after working hard at site. that's FIFO 101 (basics) hehehe

Paano po ba maka-pasok sa FIFO na work. Kailangan po ba local experience? or previous experience?...kailangan po din ba ng prior training/education about mining?
cutedrummerboyMelbourne Posts: 21Member Joined: Aug 14, 2013
@RichardQ marami pinoy doing FIFO lalo sa trades. they are highly regarded sa site as one the best welders and technicians. these guys are well paid and I can tell they are very happy with the FIFO lifestyle. go search for job opportunities in this trade you will know how in-demand they are.
for pinoy engineers dami din opportunities to get a FIFO job. Normaly they want engrs who are already involved with resources projects like mining and oil and gas.
basically lahat ng jobs meron FIFO kahit IT cook or admin. its a matter of finding the right connection to get into it. nothing is impossible though if you are really interested to get a FIFO job

Try again 1st quarter of this year
