@Metaform , that was for the excess baggage. In fairness, sobrang excess naman talaga yung dala namin. Per humingi ako ng discount, binigay naman nila. Problema lang yung hiningi kong receipt para dun sa $500 na binayad ko, ayaw nya $500 ang ilagay at $120 lang daw. Pumayag na rin ako. Sobra talagang nakaka stress ang airport sa atin.

@LokiJr July 2009 na grant ang 175 Visa naming family. Deadline of Initial Entry = 24 Mar 2010; We made our initial entry on 3-22 March 2010. When I got back to my previous job, I resigned effective 19 June 2010 and my plan was to go back to AU by myself leaving my family in the Philippines at kapag nakahanap ng work and house, saka sila susunod. By praying every day (Pagkagising) and every night (bago matulog), my prayers were answered dahil one month after ng initial entry, I got the job. Suddenly our plan changed - sabay-sabay na kami pagpunta dito.

Would you believe na nagpa-plano pa kami ng wife ko mag loan from Pag-Ibig para lang sa pocket money ko pagpunta dito? Dahil marami na kaming nagastos during our intial entry. Pero my pag-ibig loan was denied (I'm sure magtataka kayo bakit ako sa Pag-Ibig nag apply ng loan). Umaasa na lang kami dun sa konting ipon namin kaya ang nadala lang namin was $2K.

LokiJr, kahit ako naiinspire sa nangayari sa amin dito when we were starting. It was a combination of luck, prayer, perseverance at syempre yung skills ko na rin. Without anyone of these, hindi ko siguro maa-achieve ang goal ko sa buhay. Good luck sa inyo!

@johnandjosh, I'm already pumped up to get to Sydney just by reading your post sir hehe.
Yung pocket money concern ko rin kaya todo ipon din ako ngayon but if worse comes to worst, dami namang mga bangkong nagggrant ng personal loans ngayon hehe.

It's good to hear everything turned out great in the end. I hope all of us aspiring to go to Australia will be as successful and happy as you hehe

i suggest mag review kayong mabuti.. para hindi sayang ang pera at oras nyo..

Despite the waning economy in Australia, very much in demand pa rin po ang engineers sa bansa...Asikasuhin niyo lang po mabuti muna ang mga requirements and you should be on your way to a permanent visa soon...Isa isahin niyo po yung mga IELTS, Visa at Skills Assessment threads para maintindihan niyo po yung proseso

@redsin87, nasa CSOL po ang call center...check niyo po 149211 code. CSOL meaning may demand at mabibigyan kayo ng visa basta yung aapplyan niyong state ay nagssponsor ng ganung trabaho

I wouldn't say it's easy considering mga tipong Optus, Telus, Macquarie e nasa Pinas na hehe.....Sa pagkaintindi ko, for as long as nakahawak ka na ng managerial position sa call center, plus points sayo yun.

Sorry for the vague question. Actually I'm in Adelaide and my dad is the principal of the subclass 475 visa . I arrived here last aug 11 and I'm trying to get to a call center kasi yun ang last job ko and I'd like to continue it. My problem is my resume isn't exactly as skilled as everyone here in these forums and my last job was my 1st. 3 months lang na exp. yun. Although wala pang job, I already have plans to take certs that lead to mining but feb pa next na pasukan and priority talaga to earn money. Atm, my dad can't leave his job so I'm pretty much required to shoulder some of his expenses while he tries to wrap up his career in ph. At least this is my case

Yung call center po, as I mentioned earlier, they usually get managers from that industry...medyo pahirapan kung hindi pa kayo nagiging manager kasi mas madaling turuan ang Australian na humawak ng mga tawag nila dun (dahil sa accent)...

Taking certificate courses is definitely the way to go...at least sa mga bansa tulad ng Australia, going back to school is beneficial hehe...Just make sure to ask yourself kung gusto niyo talaga yang inaaral niyo hehe...Mining is a lucrative industry, yes, but in the long run you should enjoy the work too

For now magpart time jobs na lang muna kayo

@LokiJr Thanks bro well quick question lang, when you mean part-time jobs do you mean mga specifically mga kitchen hand etc.? The problem is the start of classes dito is quite very late.. Tatamad nila promise imagine feb uli ang pasukan daig pa katamaran natin back in ph hahaha! Man feb is a looong way.. Hope i get any job soon wag lang sales grabe..

@redsin87 considering ang yaman yaman ng bansa nila tingin ko hindi katamaran naman yan...laid back lang talaga hehe...Part time as in tutulong sa mga tindahan, shops etc...I think kaya mo mabuhay sa suweldo ng part time kung marami magagawa mo hehe

i think feb naman talaga ang start ng academic/school year... at hindi ka nmn tlaga pwde pumasok in the middle of school year..
