Hi, just want to ask if anyone of you guys have tried to take the professional examination for medical laboratory scientists? any references to share saka po kung nkapag-take na po, pede po pashare ng mga lumabas na tanong during your exam. Thank you po in advance for the infos

Took the exam September 2013. The type of questions are pretty much the same as the 2007 sample paper but unlikely to be repeated. My bad for not writing them down after the exam.
The few that I can remember.
- Calculate the anion gap (formula not given)
- what is dry chemistry?
- define esbl, mdr-tb, mrsa
- what to do when automated analyzer gives platelet result of 30?
- stain used to demonstrate following; mucin; fungi; elastin fibres

Thanks for the info. Is the medical Lab technician quota opens yearly? Im still not yet ready to take the exams yet.

I am not familiar with medical lab technician quota on state sponsorship. But if it opens yearly, it will be based on the fiscal year which starts every July. I hope you won't have to wait that long..

@wastedvampire I also took an exam last september 2013.Thank God pumasa! kamusta po application nyo? I am waiting for the state sponsorship from NSW though WA sent me a letter for invitation. wala kasi akong kilala doon...

@j_1019alisen Hi, congrats sa exam... Nasaraduhan ako ng quota for med lab technician ng oct so sabi ng agency, this dec or july na next year ung open nun so hihintay ulit kmi ng dec. Pero kung decided na ako mag-exam, baka sa sept pa kasi ndi pa ako uli nakakapag start review. self review ka lng b? anu-ano ung references mo? may reviewer ba pede pag-aralan or may mga previous questionaires sa exam ka po alam? online or books? Currrently dito po ako sa sg as medtech. Mejo mahihirapan ako mangalap uli ng reviewers kasi ung books ko nsa pinas pa lahat..

Gusto nmen sa Canberra, kasi un ung pinakamalapit sa sydney. Hoping and praying na mag-open uli ang med lab technician by July 2014. Invited to sit sa exam din pero ung letter is valid pa nmn w/in 3 yrs after ng skills assessment ng AIMS. Plan ko din sana na sa Aussie nlng mag-exam. hintay muna maka-settle sa work etc...

Havent submitted the application yet, but i opted for visa 189 instead of 190. Good luck!

@wastedvampire thank u sa mga info ha. i better start my review na din. plan to take the exam next year sept kasi kung march, ndi na kaya ng time for self review. Mejo nkakatakot etong exam dhil hindi multiple choice, unlike sa ascp. hope mkapasa din ako hehe.nsa pinas ka po ba?

@bhelle_mt02 mga reviewers lang po sa local board...yong mga pointers na binigay po ng aims then research sa internet for further updates...kaya po yan kung meron kang enough na preparation and prayers of course... Basic po yong exam and simple analyzation Nandito pa po ako sa Pinas waiting for my NSW state sponsorship...

@j_1019alisen ok salamat ha. pinapalakas mo loob ko. Hehe.. kasi since 2008 pa ako nagbuklat ng libro pra sa ascp e. Ngaun nlng uli. kasi dun sa sample questionaires nila sa website prang nosebleed hehe.. salamat uli ha.. congrats uli sau.

Hi guys. Glad this thread was started. Akala ko kase konti lang med. techs. kaya hindi ako nagtatanong.

I will be taking the exams this March. Tanong ko lang sa mga ng exams na. Bakit andami kulang dun sa guide to study? Wala talaga silang questions dun? Subjects like urinalysis and body fluids, Chemistry instrumentation, Infectious diseases, Molecular methods, etc. Wala na ba lumabas dun? Hirap kase mg review lalo na kung tumatanda na.

@wastedvampire mahirap ba jan sa US? gs2 ko na nga sana magpa-Visa screen jan e. kaso sayang nmn ung pera at oras na nilaan na nmen sa application. Jan sa US pg my H1B visa ba, pede ko maisama asawa ko at 1yo daughter ko db? pero ung asawa ko ndi mkakahanap ng gs2 nya stable na work tama ba? kasi dependent ko sila? tpos ung anak ko, ndi libre sa school, ? any idea?

@janntdl aug 29 2013 submit ung skills assessment ko thru agency d2 sg. tpos sept 30 may result na agd. may invitation letter to sit for the exam -med lab scientist, baka sa sept na ako mg-take. ndi pa nagsisimula mag-aral hehe

you can still use pa rin ba ung assessment nila for a Medical Lab Technician? or you need to apply a different assessment for a medical Lab Technician?

Like my case hinde ako ng exam, two letters kasi ung ipapadala nila, first is assessed as Med lab tech, then another is the invitation to exam. You don't need to apply for another one.

@bhelle_mt02 tama ka sa lahat Na mentioned mo. Ang alam ko liber ang public school. Pero daycare, may mga facility Na 2-3 hours lang libre. Wala akong anak so Hindi ako familiar.

Yep swerte nga ni Ren. Ngayon hindi na pwede med. lab. tech. kahit sa South Australia. May conditions na. Sana wag muna mawala ang med. lab. scientists sa SOL. Nakaka pressure tuloy mag exam lalo na sa mga tulad ko na medyo oldie na. Hehehe.

Hi there! tanong lang po in behalf of my wife na Medtech din.
Grant na po 190 visa namin at ako ang main applicant.
Si wife ba need pa mag pa assess para makapasok as med lab technician sa AIMS bago makapag work? or immediate pede na work agad agad?

Hi there,
I think it depends sa job market ng state na pupuntahan mo. I just think na mas competitive pag may AIMS assessment. But if maganda ung experience from the phils then perfect fit sya for the job opening, I think its wort giving a try to apply kahit walang AIMS assessment.

Plan talaga is to take a an assessment with AIMS then after ma qualify for exam.
Sana lang di na need ng AIMS sa Perth para maka pagwork as initialy as Med Tech Technician.

@janntdl pareho tau apply d2 sg thru agency. Ano agency mo? Pede na hindi na magexam. Sbi din ng colleague ko na nsa adelaide na, pamember lng sa aims tpos pede ka na work as med tech. kaso kung gs2 mo malalaki hosp pasukan or govt hosp, need yta nila med lab scientist so kelngn mag exam. Sa case nten, kakaopen lng ng list for canberra but unfortunately wla ung med lab tech. Puro plgi med lab scientist, kaya need ko exam pra if in case lng wla mg open db? Pero plgi nmn dw meron like last yr nag open ang medlab tech sa canberra, south australia at west. Un nga lng, ndi ka mkkpamili ng state. Ako nmn khit saan basta kasama ko mg ama ko. Unlike d2 sg na ndi ko mkuha dependent baby ko.
