Having a hard time in seeking job NSW

@kicco13 hello bro! Kamusta na? I hope na meron ka ng work by this time. I and my wife are planning to go in Sydney around March of this year and after reading this thread it made me think that I have to be REALLY PREPARED. I hope to hear from you so that at least we can make the necessary adjustments while we are still here in PH. Thanks in advance!

Padating po ako ng April sa Sydney, tanong ko lang sana kung nakahanap na yung mga dating nag post dito? Yung mga padating pa lang katulad ko nagpapasa na ba kayo online? May mga nagrerespond ba?

hello! I'm so glad na nakita ko tong forum ng pinoyau kasi ang dami kong natututunan. Sana marami pang makapagpost ng experiences nila in looking for a job especially in NSW. I will be moving there soon with student visa (dependent). Sana makahanap ako agad ng work, hopefully sa clinical research or any medical related field.

Guys sorry di n ako active d2. bali nka pag work nmn ako around oct. pero ngaun tpos na contractual lng kc. tpos dumating pa ang mga holidays ng dec. to jan. kaya mahirap mag hanap ulet ng work.

Sa ibang state ba, mahirap din mag hanap ng work? I'm here in perth and still no luck of finding work after a month. Madami naman advertised positions but wala tumatawag.

well dapat re vamp mo ung resume mo at cover letter isa pa need mo ng mga referee para mas magtiwala sila sa resume mo. meron nmang mga jobs d2 sa Sydney pero marami ding mga kacompetensya.

yung referees ko kasi is from Dubai so maybe it will not count since preferred nila from local employer. Maybe need to volunteer muna just to have referees.

ah tiga dubai ka pla. pwede nmn nila iconsider un pero depende sa employer. anu nga pla linya mo? IT kc ako. Sabi nila sa perth daw puro skilled ang jobs eh.

Hello Guys,

I am also a testament of how difficult it is to find job here in Sydney. I and my wife are both IT professionals (Technical Support Engineers), so before we moved here, we have decided that she will look for odd-jobs first while I will focus on finding an IT one. Medyo limited lang din po kasi yung baon naming pera. We have to rent right of the bat ng isang room on a flat-sharing, dahil hindi po kami ma-aaccomodate ng pinsan ko dahil sa liit ng inuupahan nilang house.

I chose a place that is busy and maraming establishments like malls and markets. So si misis nagwalk-in sa lahat ng grocery store asking if they need additional staff and sabay bigay ng cv (customized for odd-jobs). She did all of the walk-ins while also busy in gumtree calling all possible odd-job employers. I think kung odd-job yung target sa gumtree, its better to submit the cv asap and CALL the number of the employer right away, dahil marami po kasing nagpapasa ng cv thru e-mail and minsan hindi na po talaga napapansin, unless kayo po yung nauna. Thank God at saktong first week namin may tumanggap agad na fruit grocery sa kanya sa loob ng westfield mall. Then after that may kumuha din sa kanyang Filipino restaurant as a part-time waitress, then meron then po syang once a week 8 hr job as a sandwich assistant sa isang weekly food stall malapit sa amin (take note lahat po ng part-time job niya ay all walking distance para tipid po sa pamasahe).

Before we go here, I e-mailed my boss who is our client about my plans of moving to Sydney and if ever there is a chance, I am still willing to work for them (meron kasi silang branch dito). So technically, in my case po, meron po talaga akong hinihintay na job from our previous client. However umabot na po ng almost 6 months waiting (combined both in PH and AU) and wala po ako talgang assurance from them. On my part I kept on adjusting my CV and Cover letter, answering phone interviews and karamihan po talaga is from agency or recruiters. I finally got one interview from Commvault as storage engineer, however hindi po ako pumasa sa technical interview. Another company (Storagecraft) scheduled me for interview as storage specialist this coming Tuesday. On the day na tinawagan ako ng agency about the Commvault result, nag-email na sakin yung previous client ko back in PH about the job offer. We are really thankful to the Lord because without His mercy and grace we could have ended as loosers.

I arrived here in Sydney with my Husband exactly 3 weeks ago. On our 2nd week, may tig-dalawang interview kami. I am a Senior Applications Consultant/Business Analyst and domain knowledge ko is HR/HCM. Yung 1st interview ko is with a Recruiter and he said that he will be scheduling me for an interview with 2 of his clients, a week later wala pa din sya update

The second one is with a start up company implementing ERPs, eto ang frustrating kasi I was interviewed muna sa phone and highlighted my work experience, etc. but when I came in for the interview, hanap pala nila is may experience sa manufacturing and they needed someone to go onboard agad kaya they do not have time to train. The interview only lasted for less than 30 minutes. Sobrang down ako after that interview, I let myself be sad for one whole day then after that I moved on.

My husband naman has experience in retail/customer service. He was interviewed by Vodafone and Apple last week din but sadly di sya nakuha sa apple (his dream job), we are still waiting for Vodafone's update. Just now someone called him to say na he was shortlisted for a job in a contact centre. I really hope na before the month ends, at least isa sa amin makahanap na ng work. Miss na miss na din namin ang anak namin but we have to stay strong and keep going. Stay positive lang tayo mga kapatid. Sabi nga ng uncle namin, andito na kayo sa mayamang bansa kaya itodo na ang effort, after ilang months matatawa na lang kayo sa mga pinagdaanan nyo. Maghahanap na din kami ng casual jobs para naman hindi puro palabas ang pera, mas nakakalungkot din pag nasa bahay lang.
