Boosting the economy through Australia's migration programme
    Tuesday, 13 May 2014

Growth in business visa programmes will be prioritised and over $300 million will be saved through changes to Australia's 2014-15 migration programme, Minister for Immigration and Border Protection, the Hon Scott Morrison, said today.

'The Abbott Government is ensuring our migration programme matches the nation's economic and skills needs while also contributing to a cohesive and strong community,' Minister Morrison said.

'This Budget allocates almost 68 per cent of Australia's migration places to skilled migration, and reprioritises employer-sponsored visas.

'With the reprioritisation towards employer-sponsored visas, employers will be assisted in finding workers to fill vital positions where they have been unable to find local workers. This also protects Australian workers, who will have less direct competition from independent migrants who arrive without a guaranteed job.

'The 2014-15 migration program provides a total of 190 000 places including 128 550 for skilled migration, 60 885 places for family migration and 565 places for migration under the special eligibility stream.

'The family stream will see more places being allocated for partners and children which together increase by 335 places, in recognition of the strong social and economic benefits of close family reunion, while the number of places in the contributory parent category has also been increased by 500 places.

'The additional 4 000 places in the family stream which the previous government allocated to illegal maritime arrivals have been removed, resulting in a saving of around $267 million.

'This change will provide yet another disincentive for people considering the dangerous boat journey to Australia.

'Changes to the skilled and family stream intakes will provide approximately $35 million in savings,' Minister Mor

@mady_ same as most of us did here, it's of great help to read page 1 of this thread.

I suggest also to read below thread so you'll have a grasp of your current possible points & could set your target.

there are two types of visa 489:
    a) 489- regional sponsorship - so region po ang mag ssponsor sa inyo.. occupation should in CSOL

    b) 489 relative sponsorship - ang relative nyo should be living in a designated area, occupation SHOULD BE in SOL
Please help! Thank you-

    GoodPM.
Pwede kayang mas mauna ang submission date ng EOI kaysa sa last day ng current job?

    Halimbawa:
-Isusubmit na namin yung EOI by Aug 31.
-Ang targeted last date sa current job ay Sept 30 (to claim 3 years, net of 6 deductible years-RPL)
-Sa EOI, ang ilalagay namin na last date from current job ay Sept 30.

Naisip ko lang na it would be less likely na makareceive kami ng invitation within a month, dahil 60 pointer lang kami.
May nakagawa na ba nito? Salamat!!

    *Raises hand

Parehas tayo ng case. Nothing to do but wait for CO. Hindi pwede mag generate ng HAP ID sa Immiaccount because the CO must check our previous medical. Although I am pretty sure na ipa medical tayo ulit, we cannot front load it kase kelangan natin HAP ID.

    May 1 - lodged visa 189
but there is a problem with my birth certificate NSO

i was born in Ilocos, pero naregister ng parents ko sa NSO, both Ilocos and Manila (cguro magulo situation nung time na pinanganak aq) hehe..

before 2013 - lahat ng documents ko - Ilocos ung place of birth
but bec. i renewed my passport - urgent so nag pa online delivery aq NSO hotline (they sent me a birth cert - MAnila ang place of birth q), so dahil urgent , un ung ginamit ko for renewal of my passport..

today - my mother verified my nso docs. ( she went to NSO office) - sabi ng nso, mali daw nila ung nagsend sila ng "Manila"..so icancel na daw nila ung manila..which means, ilocos nalang daw ang matitira sa database nila..

ayun..thats the problem..ano po kaya magandang gawin? thanks in advance

Hi guys question lang, Im now in the process of uploading the supporting docs for employment and I have these 2 scenarios na di ko alam gagawin ko:

    1. On my contract and payslips (first 2 years at work) ibang position ang nakaindicate compared dun sa COE na sinubmit ko sa ACS (the same doc na iuupload ko din sa immiaccount). I was promoted on my 3rd year but I dont have a copy of my payslips for that period anymore. On my COE, ang nakalagay nalang is yung last position na hinold ko before leaving. Hindi ba ako magkakaissue when the CO checks that the "position" is not consistent ? Should I just submit ITRs at wag na yung contract and payslips?

    2. On my 2nd company, my Contract Papers was from a consulting company since startup company sya and in the process palang ng pagreregister sa sec,bir et al. After a few months (prior to my regularization), nairegister na officially si Company2 and by the time na my regularization papers were given to me, the docs were already under the Company2 (letterhead and all). The consulting firm was never mentioned in my COE; Is it better to just submit the regularization papers and wag na yung contract?

    Thanks in advance!

Hi, everyone :) I just joined in and I am very glad to come across this forum that is full of insights on migrating to Australia. I can sense as well that every member is so willing to help.

I recently resigned from my job here in the Philippines and am now looking into applying for migration. I had the chance to visit Sydney last year and I thought to myself then that I would want to come back to work and live in Australia.

I have almost 9 years of work experience in the call centre industry - 7 years and 2 months as a Technical Trainer; 1 year and 9 months as a Call Centre Manager. Based on this, please suggest what you think is the best occupation I should be nominating in my application.

I would appreciate your feedback :)

sorry to burst the bubble but call centre work per se is not on the skilled migrant list I believe... in fact, a lot of call centre operations for Australian firms are outsourced in the Philippines.

Might be worth looking at other options.

Shouldn't I be using the CSOL (Consolidated Skilled Occupation List) as a reference? That was where I found occupations that seemed to be related to call centre jobs (e.g. Call or Contact Centre Manager, Customer Service Manager, ICT Customer Support Officer).

The next most important thing for you to consider and check is which states in Australia are currently sponsoring your skills. I think its a mandatory requirement as your skill is only in CSOL listing if i'm not wrong.
