Going on 4 months next week, no clear path to employment..

Total SEEK applications made = 176
External applications (including direct to company applications and agents) = 50+

Total Rejection letters = 100+ (Exclusive of those that expired without any notice)
    Total positive = 0

Total Applications made for jobs a little bit far from my field 20+

Solution? Probably go back to Ph just until the industry picks up again...

@kremitz tried and was rejected. Actually still trying as we speak and will not stop until me and my wife decide to go back to Ph. We just really came in at the worst time for Au. My wife btw got a job at retail but sadly it is a volunteer job. Not trying to get everybody in a bad mood but as someone who is here, I feel that it is my responsibility to tell other prospective migrants of the current situation. I do feel that it is going to pick up in less than a year or so. We just don't want to spend all of our money in here especially if there is no clear path to employment.

I remember my friend who migrated here about a year ago. In less than a month he got an interview and another one after a week or so, and then he got a job in less than 2 months. I am not expecting to have his experience but not being invited for at least an interview or even an email of a positive result for the past 4 months really tells you the market is not doing well.

@bookworm actually it was one of our options, and actually the total number of applications I made includes the whole Au. My wife and I talked about it, about moving to another territory but there's also not a lot going on other territories. Plus the expenses of moving to another territory without any assurances of a job will probably be more on the negative side than the positive one.

I still think leaving for the moment is the best option. After all with our visa, you can always go back anytime you want right?

@joestrummer I feel you bro. We are on the same boat. Almost 4 months na rin ako sa Australia (Melbourne CBD based) and I still can't still manage to land a job as Software Developer. Lately, I am starting to apply for Blue Collar work already (Cleaners, Attendants etc.) hopefully may mag-hire sa akin. If for some reason, that will not work out as well may be i'll consider going back sa PH muna. we'll see.

To answer, your question yes i believe you can always go back here in Australia on a later date since you made your inital visa entry already. but i'm not sure kung may provision yung Visa mo na: "must be employed for an X number of months consecutively in a span of X number of years to maintain the validity of your PR Visa otherwise it will be voided." You have to check that in your Vevo or Visa Grant Notice letter to make sure. If you decided to go back here again in the future just keep in mind wag mong tagalan ang stay sa PH. dapat 6-12 months at most then balik na ulit dito to try your luck again.

Good luck to you and your partner bro in your future endeavors. Kung hindi man kayo pinalad this time for a job i'm sure in the future meron kayo mahahanap din na job dito. Just stay positive at all times!

@wizz seryoso? cleaner mahirap pa sa perty.kung 1-3 mos madali pa din yun. it's discouraging to hear maybe you should not mention it here kasi. very negative sa mga wala pa work. para mo na din kasi sinabi na matakot na kayo. just saying... jobseekers wag mag agam-agam you will find work for sure. at syempre sabi ko nga invest time and money sa pag aapply. just go with the process of job hunting parang pinas din lng. walang swerte swerte dito sa oz.
Excuse me? AS IN!" Also, another false statement yung last statement mo about swerte baka ang gusto mo sabihin eh walang imposible dito o walang himala. @wizz, You just hit the spot sir. Different folks, different strokes. Lots of people tell me to "Be positive and all", I mean that's true but sometimes you have to be a realist about the current situation and just be hopeful that some good old dumb luck may hit you along the way.

To everybody here, like sir wizz, I am not discouraging you from anything. As a fellow Filipino migrant, I just want you to know about my experience. After all "Ang swerte ni Juan ay hindi swerte ni Pedro"...

O, para maiba ang ihip ng hangin at para sa tunay at totoong positive vibes and encouragement, isshare ko ang personal financial experience ko (which, essentially, aminin man natin o hindi, is what migrating to AU is all about).

5 weeks na akong nagwwork sa Sydney. In the first 5 weeks of my work, I have earned, in net pay, what I earn in the Philippines, in net pay, for a year (including 13th month and any bonuses).

Nakakashock for me kasi this is the most money I have earned in my life in the shortest period of time.

Hindi ako nagyayabang. Kung kilala ninyo ako bilang tao, pera ang huling bagay na ipagmamalaki ko about myself (good looks ang source ng hangin ko..hahahaha..).

I'm sharing this para we can all keep our eyes on the prize. We aim for financial abundance and stability. And for me, personally, nagmamanifest na siya agad in less than 3 months of me migrating to Australia.

That is the potential. We won't all get there at the same pace. But eventually, as long as you don't give up, you have to believe that you will get there somehow. :)

i agree with some of your comments here. iba2x talaga ang swerte nga mga tao and to be honest karamihan sa mga kilala ko are really having a hard time looking for a job, even odd jobs. sabi nung mga medyo matagal na rin dito, 3 months na job hunting is normal here kaya if 3 months man kayong naghahanap without a luck wag panghinaan nang loob dadating din ang work on the right time. May iilan who got lucky and found a job right away and my hubby is one of them.

hindi namin to sinasabi to discourage yung papunta, it is to prepare you para alam nyo what to expect when you arrive. it will be a struggle in the first few months, kami nga din medyo nahihirapan pa since sanay kami na ang combined income sa sg eh medyo malaki, here tipid talaga kasi si hubby lang ang nagwork. not to mention na pag walang local experience bihira lang makakakuha nang mataas na salary kahit pa mataas na experience nyo overseas. Dapat talaga prepare kayo ng good for atleast 6 months na panggastos.

Well ako, I left the Philippines not primarily because I had a low paying job. In fact, my career was on the rise, kahit hindi reflective of my salary.

I wanted to leave the Philippines because the country made me feel hopeless. Everything around me, except of course family and friends, felt like doom. The government, the environment, security, and even the culture.

So because of all of those factors, at age 26, I left behind my family and friends for a better life in Australia. Of course the move was made easier by the fact that I was able to successfully bring my partner with me to start our life together in a new country.

I will always love the Philippines in a sentimental way. And I'm pretty sure, old age will call me back home. But if I want to reach my full potential and achieve my dreams, I can't get stuck in a country that will keep dragging me down to the point where I can no longer pick myself up.

Madrama, but I'm sure some folks here can understand what I'm saying.

Immortality ng legacy lupet mo talga boss hehehe. Pero agree if you are working from SG to AU, most likely money is not really an issue. Baka most of the time nga is mas makaipon ka pa sa SG kesa sa AU kasi di rin nman nalalayo ang salary package dito. Kadalasan mas ok nga perks/ bonus dito. Ambaba ng tax (i.e. Nasa 2% lang for roughly 120-140k salary i think a month, after a year pa bayad pwede pa hulugan via GIRO). Pero nakakasakal din tumira in a long run, well atleast for me. Besides im not PR here and rejected twice.

But overall i believe kanya kanya yan kapalaran at swerte yan. Madami factors to consider. Also, He/She could be in the right place at right time. This may not be applicable for everyone.

All of us nman here are grown ups, and can decipher things and decide on our own. Ok nga yun may warning. Basta wag lang susuko and keep up the fight. Change strategy kung kinakailangan.

Change strategy kung kinakailangan.
eto na ang totoong master! haha, agree kelangan maraming bala pag papunta at mag chillax!! haha

I haven't lost everything except my mind...
