Query on Airport Transfers upon Initial Entry

TasBurrfootTasBurrfoot OsakaPosts: 4,336Member
edited January 2013 in Victoria - Melbourne
Hello,

This is for the people already settled in Melbourne; when you did your initial entry, what mode of transportation did you get in order to go from Tulla to the place you rented?

I am thinking that if mag-taxi, it might be too expensive. If mag-bus, definitely it won't be a good option as we will be carrying more than 50 kilos of luggages. I am thinking of renting a car but my wife is not too supportive of it as takot sya baka mawala kami added to the fact that it will be right-hand driving which I am not too familiar on.

Your inputs will greatly help! Many thanks again... :)

    Hello!

Do we need to book online po ba kung mag taxi/cab from the airport? Hindi po ba tulad nung satin, maghahanap na lang ng taxi pag dating dun? [-(

Alis nako from Pinas sa Friday, naisip ko baka kailangan organize ang airport transfer dito pa lang? Thanks sa mga sasagot!

We visited Sydney last June 2012 as tourist.... I think no prob and transportation from airport to your destination. Daming taxi .... but very very very expensive talaga... From Airport to CBD sng sydney... malapit na sa 50 AUD, mga 15 to 20 minutes lng yan.... Sa airport daming din mga car rental.. which is a good option if malayo ang place nyo from da airport... GPS is included naman sa for sure makakarating kayo sa destination nyo...

@lock_code2004: you're right, dami pala services offered in airports. From shuttle to cab to private hire to limos!

Limos can go as high as $200 one-way from Brisbane airport to CBD which is maybe 20 minutes away! Yung airport shuttle starts at $20 per pax pero inconvenient kung may luggages. At hintayan dahil madami sasakay at may specific times lang. Mid-range, I think, is the private car pickup around $70-80, so far sa mga napagtanungan ko.

    Expensive! [-(

@Nadine & @LittleBoyBlue - so paano kayo nakapunta from the airport to your place of accommodation...

Eto yung dilemma ko kasi, I wanted to drive from Tullamarine to Ormond kaso my wife is a bit hesitant that isusubok ko kaagad ang pagdrive sa Australia on our 1st day as migrant (with all our bags pa...)

Cge, okey na ako ng point-to-point airport transfer (which will cost mga A$120) however another curveball came along - by the approximate time na darating kami sa Ormond, our housemates would already have gone out for work na. So back to square one again...

I may have to convince my other half for us to do our initial plan of doing it via a rented car.

Hope to get any idea from you guys! Salamat as always... :)

    Hello @psychoboy!

What I did po was airport transfer, yung tinatawag nilang limo taxi. Which isn't a taxi nor a limo, hehe. Just a private car. Cost me $70 with 2 luggages. I booked prior to arrival, they then confirmed the day before. And they were waiting at the bags carousel area with a signage with my name on it. Pretty straight-forward transaction po yun.

Not to undermine your driving or anything, but I would probably agree with your wife on this one po. Have talked to 3 guys and one girl (all pinoys) who have driven most of their lives sa Pinas. All of them nag crash-course in aussie driving po (i.e. 2-3 hours). Kasi madami roundabouts, strict ang rules, etc. I myself have 17 years of driving satin, I was itching to go behind the wheel on my first week. Pero nung nag try ako, iba talaga siya. You'll see when you get here po. However, if you've driven here before, renting a car on arrival is best, I think. May $30 yata a day and you have 24 hours on it (go around, run errands etc.).

May mga taxi sa airport at private transfers. May shuttle din. And may train service from the airport to the CBD. I'm sure ganun din sa Melbourne. I've been to Tullamarine international airport. Very busy airport. Probably best to have some pickup from the airport. 8->
