Pinas will always be my home no matter what. Hindi mapapantayan ang mga memories ko since pagkabata, struggle and mga taong nakilala at nakasama ko sa Pinas. I love Pinas inspite of its cons and weaknesses.

I just want to move somewhere else to look and experience whats on the other side of the fence and test myself with the world's best talents. I am still young, looking for a journey. Because that's life is all about.

But when time comes, I will still go back and most probably retire on my beloved country Pinas. Theres no place like home.

I will be frank about that 'let's start a business in the Philippines' dream...It's not easy...there's barely any incentive given out to entreps here...The tycoons and MVP's of the Philippines have too much control of our economy and we don't have the proper laws to protect upstarts (cha-cha anyone?)...Add to the problem the fact that we have a huge black / gray market in the metropolis (Divisoria, sari-sari store, China goods...). Plus our intellectual property laws are almost non-existent (thought of a hugely popular dessert? wait a few weeks for your neighbor to copy it) Good luck na lang haha

Check ninyo yung business ranking ng Pinas at ikumpara niyo yun sa Australia, Hong Kong, or Singapore...anlayo natin :(

@TotoyOZresident Gusto ko po itong ma experience.. :)

Pag uwi nya, gusto matulog or mag jog kasi nga stress sya.
Pag weekend wala masyado ibang location na pwede maghike or mag short vacation.

Party life maganda dito! Shopping! Gadgets! Less tax sa sweldo.

Gusto na namin ng Laid back na lifestyle yung laro2x lang with kids.
Luto2x sa kitchen. Long drive and vacations na di kailangan mag eroplano.

Eto sana first choice namin kasi may relative. :)

Nung first time kong tumapak palabas ng bansa back in 2007, na-miss ko kaagad ang Pinas. Sabi ko sa sarili ko, two years lang ako magtatrabaho abroad then babalik kaagad ako sa sariling bayan. Unfortunately, after some months, due to a serious family-related problem, kinailangan naming mag-leave at umuwi sa Pinas for two weeks. The same feeling was not there anymore.

Very well said... :) I think those who have experienced living abroad can attest to this - yes, whilst it is true that life can be lonely abroad, at least the quality of living is way better...

More than 4 years ako sa Singapore nakatira kasama si misis - it was basically just us most of the time. Minsan may mga kaibigan, photowalk, kain, bbq. Sounds lonely? A bit but we are accustomed to it eventually.

Now, running 3 months in our self-imposed vacation with our family in Albay and Cagayan de Oro - to be honest, both of us are looking forward to moving on with our life na down under. There are a lot more things to complain about in our country when you have already tried to lived in another country.

Ayun I could rant on and on and on... But fact of the matter is, not counting the loneliness factor, life outside the Philippines is definitely better.

And yeah, I don't COMPLETELY AGREE on the slogan, it's more fun in the Philippines... :)

i dont want to spoil your dreams or good image of Au, but just a slice of reality, jobs here (esp Accounting roles -AR/AP/etc..) are being offshored to Philippines.. In the Philippines, you are not afraid to lose your job, because you know jobstreet always have something lined up for you. But current job market in Au is bleak.. manufacturing companies are cutting cost. But if you have enough savings to sustain you for the next 2 years, go take the risk. after 2 years, if you cant find a decent job, there's always Centrelink (i.e. Newstart allowance) to back you up. But meanwhile, if you are currently earning good (estimated AUD $3500 up) and have a job with a stable company, just my 2 cents worth, stay where you are. :)

Come to think of it...wala pa akong nababasang feedback na mga nasa Australia at nagrereklamo tungkol sa workload nila hehe
Not really, it depends kung saan industry ka. I worked in the big4. Lahat sila same toxic environment mapa-pinas, tokyo, canada or australia. It's probably the attitude/culture na na-inherit. So even if yung mga local grad staff dito eh bobo at tamad, your still inclined to do your best, quality output. In the big4, there's no work-life balance, there's only work-work balance - work until 2,4am work sa home, work sa weekends. And they don't give a shit about your sacrifices, if the firm is lossing revenue/clients, you can kiss your job goodbye.

On the positive side, kahit wala kang local experience, sabihin mu lang sa interviewer "big4 experience", no question, you're hired na, and you can take it to the bank!

Life after the big4 is a bliss...

    going back to topic
For me canada is good for retirement, maganda ang medical facilities at medicare system nila. Maganda ang environment and I like the snow pag weekends or vacation. I hate the snow when going to work, hirap gumising, maligo (well you can survive without kahit 3 days pa, or a week), and I hate the salt, it ruins your shoes. Cheaper ang cost of living. Mura ang property. Filipino food at filipino restaurants there tastes like home. Canadians are very respectful.

Aus is good for working and work-life balance (except big4). Mas malaki sweldo compare sa canada at mas maraming holidays. Beaches and eyecandy are very nice. Filipino restaurant here taste crap (brisbane and sydney).

Singapore is good for shopping, cheap and fantastic food and more shopping and more food.

Interesting topic. I haven't been to other countries kaya i'm reading and also asking around about life in Australia and other countries as well. Between Oz & Canada, I choose Oz primarily because of the show money (about 500K pesos the last time i checked) being required by Canada in order to apply for a visa. Mas kaya ng budget ko yung Oz. :) And when I stumbled upon this forum, nabuo ang decision ko to push tru with applying Oz visa.

    My other reasons are:
1.) Mas malapit sa Pinas. In short mas mura pamasahe, mas possible na makakauwi ako madalas to see my family and also for vacation. According to a friend in Oz, they are allowed 6months to 1 yr maternity leave. Also, in my opinion, the Phils has the most beautiful natural tourist spots. Opinion ko lang kase I havent been to other countries. Sa iba parang more on sight seeing lang...hehehe... Tsaka mas mura magagastos pag sa Phils nag bakasyon. Pwede gawin once a month. Try Palawan, Boracay, Siargao, etc. Dami magagandang spots. Ang ganda ng Phils.
2.) Mas in-demand ang IT sa Oz?
    3.) Weather
4.) Mas nagustuhan ko scenery and lifestyle sa OZ based sa mga nababasa ko.
6.) Mas malaki sweldo sa OZ? I have a friend who recently got an employer sponsored job sa Canada. Liit sweldo. Walang 6 digits.

Till here na lang. Haba ng posts ko. heheh...

@TotoyOZresident Gusto ko po itong ma experience.. :)

Pag uwi nya, gusto matulog or mag jog kasi nga stress sya.
Pag weekend wala masyado ibang location na pwede maghike or mag short vacation.

Party life maganda dito! Shopping! Gadgets! Less tax sa sweldo.

Gusto na namin ng Laid back na lifestyle yung laro2x lang with kids.
Luto2x sa kitchen. Long drive and vacations na di kailangan mag eroplano.

Eto sana first choice namin kasi may relative. :)
Good move. Mag ipon ipon muna while waiting for your visa approval.

    Goodluck.

From mid-tier firms, to SGV to another mid tier firm in Singapore to another audit firm potentially sa Canada. From 8 years i went to 3 different departments (Risk management, advisory and External audit).

Yung sa Canada nka pending pa yung FSW nila until May 2013 and pinaka problem ko talaga dun is yung proof of funds.

Re your cheaper flights, totoo yan pag off peak season pero expect skyrocket prices pag holidays. Automatic na yan kahit mag pre book ka 1 year ahead, lahat ng flights dito nananaga kasi very predictable ang behaviour ng mga aus pag holiday halos lahat ng tao nagtratravel, kaya dito sila kumikita. Tingnan mu na lang yung mga fine print ng naka sale na flights "not valid for travel on xdate to xdate ...". So, kung target mu is maka-save on cost, travel off-peak.

On beaches, boracay/palawan pales in comparison with Whitsunday. On warm water, try the beaches here during summer when the weather gets up to more than 40 degrees celsius.

^compared with Canada, cheaper pa din ang OZ. one of the reasons why I like Oz. Good to hear that there are great beaches in Oz as well. Boracay is always voted on the top 10 list of best beaches in the world. I hope to see Whitsunday on the list too. :)

No its cheaper in canada. Around November (booked 1.5months left), we paid less than 1200cdn for cathay pacific round trip toronto to hong kong to travel on Jan.1 while we paid qantas more than 1200aud for sydney to manila for travel on Dec.26 (booked 8 months in advanced, if you booked 1.5 months left you'll be paying $2000+ that is if you're lucky kung meron pa). Considering the 12-14hour flight and meals every 2 hours of cathay, you get more bang for the buck. But there will be times na cheaper ang flights from darwin to manila, that is if you have the foresight or makaka impromptu vacation leave notice ka sa boss mu. Kahit aus products here like billabong, mas magandang bumila nito sa US or UK kasi mas mura dun, lol.

Singapore is nice, safe, almost first world ang facilities. However, since foreigner ako dito (i.e. EP), disadvantage ako just to compete within the system. Ang anak ko has small chance of getting to good schools, medical nuknukan ng mahal, and there's no security as pag nag-retrench ang company, tapos ka, you have 1 month to leave Singapore unless makahanap ka ng work, so ang implication yung anak ko hihinto din ng school.
