Not sure about sa FTT.

Hi, We just received the grant last week and we’re planning our BM early next year. May nakapag-BM na ba sa Tasmania?
any experience or advise para maging smooth na pag-BM please kasi wala kaming kakilala sa Tassie.

Arrived here in Melbourne yesterday. Medyo malamig pa din but they are saying it's the start of spring. Here's what I've done so far:

    1. Got australian sim number. Opted for Telstra. Just showed my passport and that's it.
    2. Opened a bank account at NAB. They asked me for the ff:
2 IDs I gave my passport and driver's license
      visa grant document
boarding pass or itinerary if you have been here less than 6 months
    3. Applied for TFN. Had to go to a place where somebody assisted me in doing it online. Passport and visa grant document needed
    4. Centrelink. This is where I have a question. The guy I talked to in the office said that for new permanent residents there is a waiting period of 2-4 years of living here before you can apply for Centrelink. I have a subclass 189 and I heard the opposite. Can someone confirm this? Thanks!

Total time spent: less than 2 hours. Tomorrow I will apply for Medicare.

Anyway, it seems that it depends sa branch na napuntahan mong centrelink or baka nagbago na din sila ng rule since June ( di natin masabi). Also, centrelink is applicable lang pala pag may kids.

I was able to apply for Centrelink and Medicare last June nung mag IE kami.

    Yarra Service Centre

    617 Victoria Street
    Abbotsford VIC 3067

Para na din sa lahat ng mag aapply ng Medicare, may 13 pages na form na need i fill out - have I known this e ginawa ko na sya ahead (bilang may pagka oa ako e haha) instead na doon ako sa service center nagkumahog magsagot.

Anyway, complete this form, save as draft mo sa email mo then access your email doon para ma print mo (or if may printer ka sa bahay e print mo na) - para dere derecho ang apply mo. 1 form for the entire family lang need.

@timbangers If you have a child below 5 years old, kahit newly arrived residents tayo, eligible tayo to file claims. Sayang din while job hunting or single income below $100k. It will only take 4-5 weeks bago ma aapprove ang claims for FTB part B. Check the photo.

Any tips po sa matutuluyan like Airbnb or private room? Maghhanap po kami ng work ni misis then after ma employ saka kami maghanap ng permanent na matitirhan.

@mabaitpoako ganyan din ginawa ko. Super mini big move naman. Ako lang muna then nung naka secure na ako ng work at ng long term place na ma rent sinundo ko mag ina ko.

For sure may FB page ang pinoy na taga melbourne similar ng Pinoy AU Sydney which is dun ako nakahanap ng pinoy din na nag pa rent ng room nila while I'm looking for work at permanent place.

Good luck sa mini BM niyo! Mahirap sa simula but it will be all worth it.

Not sure if there is an equivalent fb page here in Melbourne (maybe someone knows?).

We were looking for airbnbs but the rentals were a bit too expensive. Good thing there was a last minute call from a friend who was willing to have their place rented for a very low price. Have you tried reaching out to friends/contacts who maybe in the area?

Onga. Mejo mahal ung Airbnb.

Yes, wag susuko! Laging tandaan na may nakalaan nang job para sainyo, it's about the timing din. Basta wag titigil sa pag try. A no means yes to better role and opportunity.
