Migration options sa mga malapit nang mag-40.

Concern namin ni misis ay mag-40 na next year. We already lodged EOI for Visa 189 pero parang slim lang ang chance ma-invite dahil 70 lang score namin. Since we are really eager to move to OZ, we are planning na mag-student visa nalng. Do you think advisable ang ganitong pathway? Anyone can recommend a good agent to help us? Nasa middle east kami ngayon. Thanks in advance sa sasagot.

@Ralskie Why don't you consider other visa options like 190 or 491 para madagdagan points nyo? A student visa doesn't have a direct pathway to PR. Magssubmit pa rin kayo ng EOI after studying for a few years and baka nag-iba nanaman rules by then.

@maguero Thank you fo your msg. I forgot to tell na our agency lodged EOI for Visa 491 sa ACT. However, di rin kmi mag expect na ma invite coz we only got 50pts. The agency did not explain this to us, naintindihan nalang yung canberra matrix thru this group. At sa ACT lang kasi open yung job code ko.
Naisipan naming mag student visa kasi di ba may additional point yun, plus NAATI at yung stay sa OZ ng ilang months since mababawasan na kami ng 10 points next yr.

Obviously you should explore options like 491 as well.

Study will need to be planned very carefully. If possible generally it's best to do a Masters by research degree, these will usually cost around $25-30k per year and do it for 2 years.

A Masters by research degree allows both the student and their spouse to work full time. By studying 2 years you also have the backup option of applying for work visa (485) after your study.

Look at your possible skill assessments for you and your spouse. Look at what states have onshore pathways and look at the history for those states (what occupations they typically have nominated in the past).

Generally stay clear of Melbourne and Sydney. South Australia has many options available for 190 after working in the state for 12 months and a large selection of occupations (reduced to 6 months if in a regional area outside of Adelaide). Queensland has options (but a smaller list) after 6 months work - but many occupations on their list change so it's potentially a higher risky. Tasmania should also be checked, and regional Victoria (if you have a job offer you can look at 491). NT is likely to offer 190 nomination for many occupations if you've been established and living in the state. I would consider ACT and WA to be more risky.

There are also some cheaper options. For example there are some 2 year diploma courses that can lead directly to a skill assessment and nomination in some states. These are much lower cost options.

Planning is important for all of these so research and where possible have backup strategies (spouse skill assessment, 485, small business options like SBO in Queensland etc).
