Australia or New Zealand

Please indulge me mga kababayan. We are trying to decide pa on whether we go for Australia or NZ. Factors are:

Ease of obtaining permanent residency visa
Job opportunities
Distance from Phil to NZ
Child care (if both are working)
Parent Visa (for aged Mom--65; Sad to leave her alone in the Phils so sana may opportunity to bring her over)
City vibes (Gusto ko laid back but not so laid-back)

Thank you so much!

Check first if you have realistic ways to reach the 160 points threshold for Skill Migration in New Zealand. Honestly it's quite hard to reach without a valid job offer.

Personally I prefer NZ because of the weather and smaller community.

Just checking NZ's calculator again, AU GSM is by far easier if you compare side by side, and if you see the trends in the past stats, but NZ is more straight forward, walang maraming types ng visa and have easier qualifications assessment - may exceptions sila sa mga recognized schools from PH which is in fairness marami rami.

For NZ's EOI, wala kasi sa calculation nila ang English competency, requirement lang siya to be eligible pero di siya makaka affect sa EOI score so nabawasan ng area na pwede sana nating pataasin. Pero check mo rin since may partner ka, may points to sa EOI. For singles kasi wala.

Wala po akong EOI sa NZ. Last time i checked 120 lang max ko maabot for now, actually kahit mag 10 years experience pako sa work di parin aabot, kahit mag masters di pa rin aabot sa 160. Job offer yung pinaka malaking point source nila.

@Captain_A, mas madali ang owning a house in NZ? 6 months raining and medyo malungkot ung ganun. :)

Not sure though. hahahahaha. Parang from what you said, mas madali sa aus and magka visa. kailangan namin ng mataas na points given na magfoforty na si husband. :)

Baka pwde sya parelocate. Ganun ginawa ni hubs, nagpalipat/relocate sya sa Bosch Au which is customer nila yan.

I guessed Cost of Living is higher in NZ and salaries are lower. You can get your PR/Citz in Au and can live in NZ if you wanted :-). Parang walang direct PR grant yata sa NZ and yes, job offer is a big % to achieve the min points for migration. NZ is very scenic and the best scenery I've seen so far after travelling to 20 countries. Goodluck!

Check first if you have realistic ways to reach the 160 points threshold for Skill Migration in New Zealand. Honestly it's quite hard to reach without a valid job offer.

Personally I prefer NZ because of the weather and smaller community.

160 min points right now to get migration visa?
Hahaha. I only have 135 points. If ung asawa ko mag positive skill assessment then 145.
    Hirap pala din.

Totoo yan... Mahirap mag ipon ng points sa NZ. Dami ko rin ginawang research tungkol dyan. I've also tried applying for a job in NZ while offshore, pero naka ilang daang send na ata ako ng direct employer emails wala nag entertain sakin LOL. meron man nagrereply na mas preferred kasi nila na andun ka na, which is ironic given the weight of a job offer for their PR application and the purpose of why you're trying to land a job in the first place.

Bukod sa napakataas ng points system, only got 145 without job offer by the way (kinapos pa ng 15pts HAHA), pinakamalaking deciding factor namin was the job opportunities. My wife and I are both in the IT industry, and IT in NZ is obviously way too small compared to AU. Hehe.

    Hope this helps.

I tried the calculator again, since I'm single, wala na agad partner points. Just for that 160 points without a job offer, I will need a recognized masters as minimum, recognized 10 years experience, and a skill in the long term shortage list. Then kahit ma reach ko to, lalampas naman ako sa age eventually. Haha. Napakahirap.

Malas ako sa timing rin eh. Just 2019, nag close permanently ung Silverfern Visa program.

I am back! We are contemplating the student route two or three years from now sa New Zealand. Cannot realistically plan right now because of the pandemic so we are okay with setting the timetable to two to three years from now.
