Just to answer the question, "Worth it ba ang Australia?": YES NA YES PO! :)

But at the end of the day, it's a family decision po and depende rin po talaga sa inyo 'yan and sa mga factors na cinoconsider niyo po. Good luck po!

Bakit niyo po gusto mag Australia? Kalimitan yung mga nagpupunta sa Australia is gusto nilang makaahon sa hirap or gusto yung better quality of life sa Australia (less traffic, better healthcare, better government kaysa Pinas, etc etc.).

It really depends on why you want to move to Australia. Hindi rin laging financial or career growth ang dahilan kasi marami dito na maaayos na ang kalagayan and careers where they are now. Once you are clear on that, a good follow up question for yourself would be what are your plans and priorities moving forward.

In my case, maayos na maayos yung buhay at career ko sa atin but I took the risk and moved here when I was 40. For example, whether or not may pera ka e pare-parehong affected ng traffic, toxic politics, etc.

U will be earning just enough. When u get old and sick, tapos wala kang ipon at insurance, ull end up selling what you have. D gaya sa Au, pag na PR ka na, you will be entitled to their healthcare for free.

Valid points to be honest. I recommend looking into PR pathway, baka may chance kahit 40+ na kayo. Kung ma grant naman ang PR mo, you can just come and try Australia and see the lifestyle here. Pwede naman umuwi kung ayaw. At least hawak nyo PR and your kids can benefit from that as well

To add to this, you only need to live in Australia on a valid visa for 4 years and kailangan yung last 12 months PR ka, for you to apply for citizenship. After that maski umuwi na kayo you and your kids will have Aussie citizenship for life and if your kids want to come and live here someday pwedeng-pwede nilang gawin.

Wag ka na mag Student or Masters - I think marami ka nang commitments na ileletgo like business and taking care of kids for this to be viable. On top na mahal tuition ng student, babalik na sila sa limited hrs of work by June (48 hours fortnightly).

+1 to this. Need na meron sa inyong nagwowork sa skilled occupation or else hindi makaka apply ng mga PR visa like 189 o 190. If walang work na skilled then I don't think possible na maka apply ng PR.

Hmm I'm not sure if nasa skilled occupation list ang seaman. Ang main requirements para maka apply ng skilled visa is dapat may nominated occupation ka na nasa MLTSSL/STSOL, and makakuha ka ng skills assessment which usually requires some years of experience on top of the educational qualification na natapos mo. If wala kang makukuhang skills assessment unfortunately di ka pede mag apply ng PR visa.

    2. Manggamuhan kami sa au

Personally, I think if there's even the smallest part of you that wonders/wants it, you should try, if you have money to spare. And for #4, since you are entrepreneurs, I'd worry first if eligible ba for PR. Are either of you skilled in an occupation that's in the list https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/visas/working-in-australia/skill-occupation-list? If yes, check niyo eligibility for skills assessment. Are either of you (primary applicant) under 45?

After you've established na may chance kayo based on the eligibility criteria, there are a few other factors to consider. Such as, do you have the budget for the process? Would you be willing to work in Australia? What are your long-term priorities? Show money is generally not required but some states (for a 190 visa for example) require it. The process also has multiple stages, so it's generally quite lengthy, so if there's a best time to apply for you, now would be it.

Most, if not all, of us who intend to migrate do so for the long-haul benefits. For me, starting over will take a few years yes but I'd rather have that short-term struggle than cope forever in the PH with the traffic, graveyard shifts (na super common in IT dito since we're always adjusting to US HQs), non-livable wage, lack of social spaces, and a lot of other things. We know none of these things will change na. But it depends per person. Iba-iba tayo.

I'd discourage you from going the Student Visa route. Marami ka nang commitments and it's not only expensive, but temporary with no guarantees of PR after.

haha I like that traffic was mentioned multiple times in this thread as a good reason for leaving PH. I swear di ko alam pano ko kinaya before ang 4 hrs commute per day from Antipolo to UST for years before leaving for Aus. Dito pag 20 mins drive nalalayuan na ako, Aus spoiled me too much hahaha. 4 years na ko dito and absolutely no regrets. Mahirap sa una pero stable na now.

Hahah!!! Traffic limits a lot of your opportunities kasi, at least for me. Social life, job prospects, for example. Hindi talaga kayang mag-thrive nang may traffic 😂

Never met someone who moved from PH to AU who regretted it! All of them wish they'd done it sooner hehe.

You'll love it here then haha, lots to see especially sa NSW malaking city ang Sydney. I left for Aus after 1.5 years of finishing college, and I also wish na I could've arrived here earlier still. Kung alam ko lang process noon and how easy it was, sana nag PTE na ako nung 13 years old ako HAHAHA

Suggest ko lang na you check the links the other members sent. 1st step talaga is to see if your nominated occupation is on their list.

I think that if you are 44 or older, you are ineligible for an Australian permanent resident visa (189/190).

    Pros:
    1. Government/Government agencies (napaka centralised ng government dito), ang processing time is hindi aabot ng 30 days mostly a week pinakamatagal. Kuha ka ng ID, it will arrive not more than a week or so.
    3. Health system - di ko pa na experience to pero napakamahal din dito if out of the pocket kahit mag reimburse pa pero maganda pag PR na may medicare na. Sali na free daycare sa mga kids
    4. Retail therapy - you can buy the things that you want here, easy to get mobile plan, easy to get the things na gusto mo dahil may mga AfterPay, Latitude, and Zippay
    7. Work life balance (Walang OTTY here, log out na pag log out na)
    8. Nature (madami Park, malapit sa dagat)

    Cons:
    1. Napakamahal lahat (rent, grocery, food, etc)
    2. Weather (sobrang lamig / sobrang init)
    3. Matagal makakuha ng bahay kase sobrang mahal ng bahay now
    4. If di PR - mahal lahat

Overall, pinakagusto ko is yong government and freedom ko dito :)

It drills down to what makes you happy, comfortable, convenient sayo.. Pag malaki sweldo, madami responsibilities sa Pinas and Au. For me, it's between simpleng pamumuhay or abundant living gusto maka pag ipon and maka save pero you need to work hard to earn your money :)

Pero yung reason pagpunta or pag migrate sa Australia is iba-iba. Dito sa Pinas for sure ubos yun.

It is also one of our main reasons, their healthcare system.

Suggest ko lang na you check the links the other members sent. 1st step talaga is to see if your nominated occupation is on their list.

If afford naman, I suggest you book a consultation with a migration agent. Saves you the time to check these links. The agent can advise you for the next steps, but the final decision will still be yours.

    1. Back to zero km sa au
    2. Manggamuhan kami sa au

I agree with the comments of other people. Is it the lifestyle? Earning potential?

Totoo na back to zero kayo sa Australia, especially kung walang professional network/contacts na makakapagrecommend sayo for work and character reference. Overseas experience don't really mean much here, kahit 10 years experience pa yan. Hahanap-hanapin ang local experience.

Retirement age here is 60+ (I don't remember exact age), but depending on the type of work, hindi sila pwede magdiscriminate based on age during the hiring process. If manual labor ang work, of course the age may factor in, kung kaya nyo yung physical work. If it's not physically strenous (office/admin work, hospitality), then you can work until you reach the retirement age.

Student visa pathway is not a guaranteed way to PR. It can help under the points system, but as you're nearing the age limit, it's a very big risk. Is it an option na ang anak nyo ang hikayatin nyo na mag-Australia after a few years (like sila ang pag-aralin dito or mag-apply sila ng skilled visa if working age na sila)?

Oh. 😔Shall I still take the risk? Im turning 43 this year. So of I study for 2 years, ill be 45 when I finish MBA. Does that mean I wont have the chance to get PR by then?

Then you might not qualify under skilled occupation visa (points-tested). MBA also doesn't have a PR pathway either.
