Yep you have almost a year to prepare. You should definitely try to apply for a job while you're still here.

To be honest with you, it's quite hard to secure a position there while you are still here in the Philippines and I guess most of our fellow forum members can attest to that fact. It is therefore important to also use that time to gain more work experience and it will be a great help if you're working on a project/working for a company that uses australian standards/codes since most recruiters in oz are looking for some local experience.

With regards to the 18months stay, ghypez answered your question already. It starts when you first arrive in oz.

Normally, eto ung may pinirmahan na Health Undertaking as a condition of their visa approval..

yes.. they (DIAC) won't require you to get married...
you can stay there as "partner/de-facto" relationship, dahil recognized naman nila ang ganung status.. and they are very open-minded about that..

so ang facebook kailangan maglagay na ng status na ganyan...
hindi nmn "it's complicated'.. ayaw lang talga magpakasal.. lol..

hi,.. almost same situation with @iammaxwell1989.. pero wala kami joint account ng gf ko.. at hndi kami sa isang house nkatira.. pero matagal na kami.. does that mean? marriage contract n lng ang choice nmin?

yung 12 mons po ba n yun ay 12mons na may joint account?at 12 mons ng magkasama sa isang house? TIA

may mga compassionate and compelling reasons na pinapayagan ng DIAC, example ang live-in sa middle east is not allowed... so in that case, pwde magapply ng de-facto relationship kahit hindi magksama sa isang bahay or walang joint bank accounts...

but if you're in the philippines, alam nila na hindi nmn strictly bwal ang magsama kahit hindi kasal (I mean hindi ka nmn huhulihin ng pulis) ..., unless may valid reasons kayo.. like hindi allowed ng family dahil sa religious belief (example lang)... or malayo ang work nyo sa isat -isa, pero magksama kayo twing wkend.. (sweet)...

so kailangan malakas ang proof nyo na matagal na gna kayo in a relationship.. (pictures of special events, travel together..and personal statement of common friends and relatives of both sides)

so dapat strong talaga mga personal statements na gagawin nmin at ng mga family members/friends nmin,kasi wala kaming joint acct at hndi kami tumira sa isang bahay.. hehehehe conservative kasi kame eh.. pero dame kami pics at travel together.. plus mga professor friends na can give statements aside sa family na matagal n kami in a relationship.. sapat na kaya yun sir?

pwde naman .. depende na lang sa statement nyo... wala nmn kasing tama or mali.. it's how you prove your relationship...

basahin mong mabuti ung link na binigay ko dun sa kabilang thread about the one year proof of relationship.. and make sure na nandun sa mga statement nila ang hinahanap na factors (social, financial, nature of household, and commitment)..

isip kayo ng mga ways to prove the relationship. example:
- kung may mga transaction ka sa bank account mo to her account (financial proof)..
- mails/emails/greeting cards/ ym/skype (i did screenshots of this and submitted 10 pages haha...)
- meet the parents/family moments especially mga important events..

and then ang closing statement sympre is your commitment
- anu plano nyo.. pagdating australia... work and start a family..
- sympre titira kayo sa isang bahay...

hehe komplikado naman yan...magpakasal kaya muna kayo hehe...or get a migration agent to be sure. Mahirap patunayan kasi yung relationship kung 'bf-gf' lang ang status...Iisipin ng immigration nag-exist lang relationship niyo para pareho kayong makapasok sa Australia. hehehe

@Captain_A : They will consider different facets of the relationship i.e. household arrangement, financial status, and social aspect. So I am trying to build the proof of relationship on each aspect.

In my case, I wanted to be on the safe side so I will provide official documents. On the financial aspect, we're planning to open a joint investment fund aside from the joint savings account.

I suggest you open a joint account, kahit maliit lang. Pero tama si @LokiJr, mas ok kung magpakasal na. Although, will they not scrutinize that the marriage happened because of the visa? haha.

FYI: They also consider de facto relationship between same sex. In theory, it should be easier to prove that you are in a genuine relationship if you two are of different sex.

@ghypez ang hirap kasi baka isipin din, kaya lng nagpakasal dahil sa visa kasi lapit na ma-expire yung 2yrs nya e parang obvious masyado.. hehehe..

cguru tibayan na lng yung personal statements.. baka mag open n lng kami joint acct para sa financial aspect.. mukhang malakas naman tingin ko ang social aspects namen dahil dame kami travel, pics, letters, professor na frends na kilala talaga kami as couple..

@Captain_A - kung magpapakasal plus may proof nmn na matagal na kayo sa relationship before magpakasal... it can be viewed also as a positive indication/proof of a genuine and continuing relationship .. diba?
