May close relatives naman ako sa AU who are capable and eager to help me out pero hindi ko pa rin maiwasan kabahan. Maybe I'm just terrified with the idea of getting out of my comfort zone. Haha. Sige, I'm going to take IELTS asap and will keep in touch with this thread along the way. Wish me luck guys!

the right way is to pay the bond..

Guys, may discussion ba dito about stories of job hunting during the first few months in AU? Gusto ko lang sana magkaron ng idea how hard (or easy ) looking for a job could get.

And i might as well ask this. Do you think mahihirapan ako makahanap ng trabaho dun if
1. I am poorly skilled.
2. I don't have any field work experience (nasa academe kasi ako ngayon).
3. I do not look very credible. Para lang daw akong high school student sabi nila. Haha.

On the other hand, does it matter if I graduated cum laude and topped the board exam? Or yung skills & work experience lang talaga ang tinitingnan nila? :>

@dominick - una, of course depende sa skills mo, and then sa location/state kung san ka napunta anu ba ang in-demand skills sa area na yun.. and then depende na rin kung mapili ka sa job.. base sa mga stories ng members, some landed a job within 2 wks, others after 3 months..

Thanks for these @lock_code2004. By the way, I was checking on 189 at hindi ko makita yung 15 points due to EA assessment. Can you tell me which factor does it fall in?

@dominick - they will assess your educ qualification... so if your bachelor degree is assessed as equivalent to an AU bachelor degree.. then you can claim for the Educ qualification - 15 pts..

Hello po, kasalukuyan po akong naghihintay ng 476 visa grant, at nagpaplano at nangangarap na ng mga kelangang gawin pagkakuha ko nito.

Ilang katanungan po sana ang aking hihingan ng kasagutan, bilang unang beses ko po itong lalabas ng bansa kung sakali:

1. Makakaapekto po ba kaya sa grant na hindi pa ako nakalabas ng Pilipinas?
2. Kelangan din po bang pumunta at mag-smeinar dun sa CFO?
3. Pano po ang nangyayari pag may stop-over ang flights? Bubuksan po ba ang mga bagahe sa bawat stop-over?
4. Kamusta po ang job market sa mga minahan?
5. Interesado din ako sa tanong ni dominick: ma-appreciate kaya nila kung board placer?

@farfar and @dominick I don't think the board exam results matter that much when it comes to landing a job, but there's no pain in putting them in your resumes. What matters significantly is the local experience. I have friends who did not take the boards and got a job in Oz in less time than those who did. Minsan it sucks, and I know how it feels. )

Haha. It looks like you're starting from scratch pala. In that case, mahihirapan ang mga 476 visa holders since they're generally fresh graduates with practically little work experience. Pero may mga success stories naman diba?

I am not exactly sure what you mean by success stories, medyo subjective. But I know quite a number of 476ers na PR na.

Haha. Medyo subjective nga. Siyempre yung mga nakapag-PR, those are success stories. But I would be delighted to hear about someone who got hired in weeks even without any local work experience. Kahit hindi mataas ang position, as long as engineering-related and promising.

By the way, kumusta na application mo @iammaxwell1989? At ano pala ang dapat na-accomplish na before lodging the application apart from IELTS?

Make sure you have the following documents ready ;

1. TOR
2. Diploma
3. English Translation of Diploma (Request ka nito sa OUR, padeliver mo na lang para di hassle)
4. Birth Certificate (NSO) and Passport
5. IELTS results form (Padeliver mo na lang din results, wala naman charge)

NBI clearance and health certificate will be asked when a CO is assigned.

Prepare mo na rin lahat ng documents that you might need when you're in Oz (drivers license, PRC license, etc).

Just to clarify. I graduated last April 2011. When must I lodge my application? Pwede pa bang March? O dapat this January na para if 3 months yung processing sakto April?

In the two years immediately before the date of making your application, you must have completed an eligible degree qualification in Engineering.

The processing time, approval time will not matter..
Importante eh, maipasa mo at ma-acknowledged nila ang application mo bago matapos ang 2 yrs after graduation..

wala pa naglakas ng loob na magpa-extend ng iED sa forum na ito..
dahil nakalagay sa grant letter.. IED cannot be changed...

may mga nagsasabi na pwede daw (sa ibang forum), but only with valid and serious reasons (i think mga medical or hindi talga maka-alis)...

in short wala pa talga...

Last I checked puwede naman re-entry...so kung di pa kayo handa magmigrate...sundin niyo muna yung IED then balik kayo Pinas hehe
