@chemistmom Mga pratice questions dito nasa exam din: ApeUni, PTETutorials, RealPTE, PTEMagic at CareerCoves sa youtube. Pancheck lng po ng essay at mga ideas yung sa site na binigay ko. Wag lng umasa sa predicted test material dapat mat Consistent at tamang practice din. Although mainam din na basahin mo yung sinasabi na "predicted test materials - https://ptetutorials.com/exam-memories-materials" before the exam, pero almost lahat ng nundun maeencounter mo mo din sa mga sources na nasa taas. I'm planning to take PTE by next month. Working mom and entrepreneur ako kaya medo hirap sa sched but I am making time. 3am gising na ako para magreview... kasi nga ginusto ko eto. Haha. Nwei, nagpurchase ako yesterday ng PTEPlus 60 days access. Yung sa Read Aloud ko, hindi masyado nakukuha yung mga words pero ang score ko naman ay around 85 to 90. Kapag pinipilit ko magslang or magaccent, bumababa lang yung scores ko. Kelangan ko ba mag-adjust? Thanks.

@chemistmom hello sis tama yan you make the time dahil ito ang ginusto naten.
ako noon since ang sched ko sa work e from 2pm-11pm, sa umaga ako review at sa gabi, from 12-3am. Dedikasyon lang talaga ang kailangan, at sangkaterbang 3in1 coffee
hahaha!

Anyway, ito tip na din sa lahat for READ ALOUD. The purpose of read aloud is to be able to convey a message. Isipin mo nalang nagkukwento ka, wag mo isipin na computer lang ang nakikinig kaya madali lang. Mas mahirap actually kasi talagang mas highly technical ito sa pag check ng iyong spoken words.

I don’t recommend slang or accents as wala naman itong bearing sa points mo. The most important thing here are your pacing, enunciation, pronunciation and identifying the tone of the passage.

(1) Tone of Passage
Paano ang tone of passage? Sa 30 seconds prep time you are given the chance to read the entire passage, then identify if it is interrogative, argumentative or informative. Whatever the tone is, read it like it should, with added feelings. Parang newscaster ganyan. Sa tone of passage din kasama yung being able to identify words in a sentence (or passage) that carries more weight when it comes to conveying the overall message of the passage. Put emphasis on those words. Be careful on punctuations din, make sure na nasusunod ito ng tama.


(2) Pronunciation
Next, read and identify ang mga big words na alam mong may potential kang sumablay to pronounce like the words reservoir, colloquialism, etc. Be mindful of paired words (academic collations) and read them correctly.

(3) Enunciation
Aminin naten as Pinoys, unless we are fortunate enough na pumasok sa school kung saan English ang medium of communication, and even so maski private school - hindi na emphasize sa atin ang importance ng enunciation. It is regarded as maarte. Interchanging F and Ps, V and B’s are tolerated.
For example sa words na Fine Print, so Fine Print becomes Payn Frint. Or naitawid mo man ang Fine, dinerecho mo sa Frint.

The names Ruth, Beth - pag nippronounce as RutH or BetH (emphasis on H), aasarin kang si kris aquino ka ba bat ang arte magsalita? pero in reality that is how it should be. Through PTE na correct ko iyan. Pati yun word na both, “bot” ang pronounce ko dati, pasalamat nalang ako talaga naintindihan pa ako ng mga ka meeting ko noon sa mga projects ko nakakahiyang tunay
Watch videos sa you tube on pronunciation and enunciation and practice. Para maengganyo ka na ayusin , use speech to txt app para makita mo how the computer understands your words.

(4) Pacing
Pacing should be normal lang, not too fast, not too slow, sakto lang. Ang tamang pacing should be na nasa bandang 30-32 seconds tapos ka na, i timer ang sarili.

Break the phrases into chunks when reading, make sure na you group the phrases to convey the meaning, hindi yun ihihiwalay mo ang isang words to belong to the next phrase potentially losing the meaning.

Naappreciate ko na despite getting a score of 85-90, hindi ka nag settle doon, meaning, you really wanted to learn the purpose of read aloud and not just settled sa “pede na iyan”.

As test takers, it is very important na
we understand the purpose of each question type para we know how to tackle it.


I always get questions about how Moni Magic gets a high score despite reading the passages in read aloud na sobrang bilis, walang pacing. I always say na “kayo ang bahala kung sa anong technique ang gusto nyong gawin” - ako kasi the way I approach things is always the same - kung ano yung sa tingin kong tama and logical.

In read aloud your focus is on how to make others understand the text and get it’s meaning across - and I would stick to this rule, dahil mas kampante ako at panatag sa ganitong strategy. Hindi ako mag iisip na, pano kung kay Moni Magic lang ang effects ng mabilis na reading? Should I jeopardize my exam? Wag na lang.

Now kung bakit mataas ang nakuha ni Moni despite contradicting the purpose of read aloud e hindi ko na masasagot yan, and if it truly guarantees a high point and as a test taker e you want to risk it and don’t want to follow the norm e pedeng pede no naman gawin. To each his own.

@chemistmom tama yun mas ok na matapos mo na para di na sya ma drag further. siguro nag 1 month solid review ako everyday then mas madaming oras pag weekends then sa days leading to the exam naka leave ako ng ilang days para pang boost sa knowledge hehe.

@janine23 called them already, classroom set up is during weekends unlike before that they have weekdays. Ganun na din iba pang review center, tuwing weekends na lang review for PTE. Thanks..

hello po,
i'd like to ask suggestions po... ano po pinaka effective way or may book or module or topics need pra po matulungan ko husband ko. He is going to take pte exam sa july 31... Hirap po sa spelling and grammar also writing..
Vocational graduate po sya. Required po sa kanya magtake ng language exam kasi kulang ang acad units nya. Skilled worker po sya planning to work in Oz.

@junnie07 hello kapatid, first of - ano ang need nyang maachieve na score? competent, proficient or superior? Once malaman namin ito e we can provide suggestions based sa level of english na need ma attain

For the meantime, walang shortcut in terms of grammar and spelling so pede na sya mag check online and go back to basics sa grammar (subject verb agreement, singular/ plural , present / past tense) - sa spelling may mga list of academic words din sa internet (itype mo lng) then print it out then iread mo, check mo alin dun ang di sya sure sa spelling - I am sure hubby knows most of it (positive lang tayo sa skills ng hubby mo) - then mag print ka naman ng List of words commonly mispelled (kung saan pati ako nakokomang dyan) then dun sya magpractice. sa spelling madali lang naman ang recall e. Basta use the word in a sentence para mas madali ang recall ng meaning nito thus mas madali nga maalala how to spell it.

@ms_ane hello po..competent po ang need nya makuha.. weak po sya academically sa english, grades nya sa elem and high school is below 80. So need ko po tlga sya turuan from basic. Di ko po alam san ako mag start, ano po yung most important lessons na need ko ituro at ano yung proper order nung lessons given the time constraint.. Secondary Math teacher po pla ako, kaya di ko po alam yung proper sequence ng vital topics/lessons na kailangan ma-i-turo po pero I can manage to teach english naman.

*Repeat Aloud-correct pronunciation of words specially the "z" sounds and magsalita lang po kayo using yung normal voice and parang script sya na sinasabi mo yung lines mo dirediretso, wag kabahan at wag mabulol, dun sa website matetest yung confidence level mo, pronunciation at oral fluency. so makikita mo kung ano yung need mo iimprove.

*Repeat sentence- I practiced using the pteplus, machecheck nung site kung narerecord nya yung words na sinasabi mo and yung right pronunciation at makikita mo score mo.

*Describe image- use the template here, tpos speak fast pero clear at normal lang

*Retell lecture, magnotes ng mga phrase tapos banggitin mo lahat nung mga nanotes mo tpos magconclude ka using the template dito

*Answer short question- sagot ka lang hahah

WRITING

*summarize written text- use compound complex sentence

*Essay- I practiced using the site, dun makikita kung san ka palagi nagkakamali, mostly subject-verb agreement, or spelling, the site was very helpful, since alam ko ung na yung weakness ko, dun ko dinodouble check.

READING- I just answered yung mga sample exams sa pteplus, mostly naencounter ko s actual exams.

LISTENING- nagsagot lang ako sa pteplus, tpos practice practice everyday, nagwawatch ng englsh movies at podcasts,

Hello @ali0522 , dahil nabasa ko etong comment mo na to, bumili ko nung 2-month access. Although, target ko ay makaexam in 1 month. Gaano ka katagal nagreview? Question lang, hindi marecognize ng PTE Plus yung period ko. Huhuhu. Any techniques?

@chemistmom if may naencounter po kayong technical problem sa account pwede nyo po sila ichat sa fb account nila pteplus. nagrereply naman po sila at tutulungan ka po nila ayusin. Nagphysical review po ako ng 1month tpos selfstudy ng review 1month ulit, kaso 1st take ko po hindi pumasa, so nagreview po ako ulit ng 3months pero 2nd take ko po hindi ako pumasa unte na lang, tapos after a week ng 2nd take ko nagtry agad ako, ayun po superior na. nag 1 month po ako nagpahinga din. kasi may full time work din po ako. Try to have enough sleep before the exam, nung 3rd take ko po, natulog tlga ako mahaba before the exam.

Hi @ricabanana , feeling ko masyado mahigpit yung scoring ng PTEPlus. Kasi sa Repeat Sentences, ang ginagawa ko nirerecord ko yung voice ko sa app na to: https://dictation.io/speech (may nagrecommend lang din neto dito sa forum). Nadedetect niya yung sentences ko, while sa PTEPlus kahit anong gawin ko di niya makuha.
Simple example decision. "The fashion" yung nacacapture niya.
So inisip ko gamitin ko lang yung Online Review nila tapos magmock exam ako using PTEPractice.
