first concern in getting a student visa is why mba? and proving the "GTE" criteria, Genuine temp entrant.. if you can satisfy this then all good..
your question on will it give you a PR visa.. it depends..
- you can get a 4yr TEMP working visa after finishing either a bachelor/grad studies in AU
- It is now up to you to get a PR after that.. via your own skill, or an employer sponsorship..
- now if you want to apply for your own visa using your own skills, your MBA cannot help you on that.. because assessments are based on bachelor degree/s.
- for employer sponsorship, it really depends on what the job is..

Getting an MBA in Australia may or may not make you are eligible for PR coz it depends on the skill you are nominating. But in your case Med Student to MBA, why not take a course related to what you are taking now? IMHO.

If that's the case, I might opt to go to Nursing instead. But does this mean it will also be hard for me to be admitted there bec of GTE? I am actually planning not to present my credentials as a med student. One year lang naman din yun. And papalitan ko nalang ng work experience instead kasi may pharmacy naman kami dito. Ano po sa tingin niyo?

Eto din ang dilemma namin as my sis is LLB satin (Bachelor of Laws) and keen to come. Hindi ko alam what sort of course can prove that "GTE". Suggestions?
To the OP @Goldseeker, matatapos ka na sa medschool? You are not considering applying as doctor instead?
Thanks guys for any input!

Btw, is she done with her LLB program already?
Hindi pa po eh. I'm only in my first year. Nagresearch ako sa pag-aapply as a doctor kaso mukhang tedious din. And my parents want me to obtain the PR asap habang bata pa daw ako. That's why I thought of getting an MBA instead.

Dun sa tanong mo, if nursing pathway, you still need assessment by ANMAC for skilled migration. If it's a pathway to PR? Absolutely! via 1) employer sponsorship or 2) skilled migration. The nursing degree is just one aspect of that skilled migration assessment though. It's a complex process (and it's not gonna be easy) but madami na nakakuha ng PR with the nursing route.
I'm not a nurse kaya I have limited knowledge but I have dug up the really long thread (but quite informative) regarding the nursing option if you are really keen on going that route.

"University of Melbourne was ranked 33rd in the world (Second in Australia) behind the Australian National University by QS World University Rankings. Times Higher Education ranks Melbourne as 34th in the world, while the QS World University Rankings places Melbourne 31st in the world"
Malaking bagay kasi ang world ranking particularly with MBA (especially kung sa mga ivy leagues schools ka, it has "premium". Kahit sabihin mo pa na magaling ka. Employers usually starts with your credentials. Sometimes, they favor those who graduated in certain universities/ personal bias. Iba yung kilala university mo in global scale, as you may not sure na sa Australia ka nalang talaga for life.
Plus, the possibility of "NETWORKS". Very good, rich/ famous, influential students studied in prestigious school. You may never know who you will meet and make friends. And ofcourse the other factors such as prestige, alumni, resources, top notch faculties, facilities, employment assistance, etc. So may reasons talga kaya mahal yan. If hindi man ako, i hope sana sa anak ko magawa ko mapagaral jan or sa ibang good schools talga.
I've read that some employers are not really concerned about MBA nowadays, especially if hindi naman magagamit sa jobs. They may even think you are overqualified, and jeopardise your chances to land the job. Some really cares, especially those in investment banks, etc for graduate positions. But those who studying in top notch universities, usually get the internship programs or the start-up positions. Not always the case, pero yan usually nababasa ko like sa mga Analyst forums. Kaya for me either to take MBA in really good schools or not to take it nalang. Unless sagot ng Company, di ok kung saan nia gusto/ pwede but not on my own pocket. Some use MBA for sake of possible permanent/ work visa in the future. Not only in Australia, but also in US, Canada, Nz, etc.
I am not really concerned about the requirements on getting into the program. Big considerations talaga ung gastos. If gastusan ko man sya, will i able to recover the big investment, its uncertain a big question mark especially if you are on your middle career. Sa US typical MBA students are ages 25-30. Those middle managers/ executives usually took Executive MBA program (usually less than a year duration), and usually sagot ng Company as they are groomed for bigger position/ responsibilities. Unless siguro may extra pera talaga ako pero wala hehe. Obvious choice is if i had that amount, i pang down payment ko nlang sa house sa Australia
