Hello everyone! I'm new here and I'm very excited to hear your thoughts! :) My girlfriend and I, like most people here, are planning on migrating to Australia. We are turning 25 next year so we'd like to start preparing and processing everything that we can as early as now. We are both ECE graduates (licensed) and have been employed for the last two years. She works for an oil and gas firm as a systems design engineer while I work for a semiconductor company as an equipment/process engineer.

From what I've researched, the most suitable visa we can apply for is VISA 189. Do you guys think this is the best course for us considering our qualifications?

We are planning to shift careers towards IT as we're not happy with the professional growth our current jobs give us. If we quit and change jobs before we get to three years of employment, are we still eligible for the overseas work experience points?

I have relatives in Melbourne who are more than welcome to help us when we get there, is there another VISA class I/we can apply for considering this?

Looking forward to your answers! TIA! :)

I think the best option is still 189 or you can also go for 190. And shifting from another career without having sufficient number of years of experience in your profession might affect the result of your skills assessment (not sure if Engineers Australia requires a minimum number of years for their skills assessment). Well, one good thing in our assessing bodies is that they are not yet requiring minimum years of experience to receive a positive skills assessment.

If I am right that EA requires a minimum number of years of experience, let's say three years, then you would not be able to get a positive skills assessment. Hence, no chance to apply for 189/190.

Also, with regards to the claiming of points, it will also depend on the assesent of EA. Some assessing body, like ACS, based from what I have read, they are deducting some years of experience from an applicant. Thus, you wont be able to claim points from work. You may want to check out EA thread..

On the other hand, if you would want to improve your scores, you can do so in English exams. There you can claim max of 20 points.

    @jiomariano
Actually, you can still get a positive assesment eventhouth you have less than 3 years of experience . However, You may not be able to claim points for work experience which is minimum 3 years for 5 points.

But dont be discouraged because you can still be able to reach at least 60 points.
which is the minimum to be invited.

what i can see is that you can claim points for:
    Age: 30 (25yrs old)
EA assessment: 15 points (professional engineer/engg technologist)
Work experience: 0 ( if less than 3 yrs experience)
English: 10 (or 20 depending on your score)
    Partner skills: 5 points
State sponsorship: 5 pts ( if you go for 190)

    TOTAL: 60/65/70 points

    Kaya yan pre, Cheers :)

A few questions po, about dun sa claiming ng points for work experience, kailangan ba sa same company or industry ko makuya yung 3 yrs na work experience bago maging eligible sa points?

Also sa assessment by EA, hindi ba too optimistic yung 15 points? Di ba sila maselan sa pag grant ng ganung score? :D

Last is dun sa partner skills, kung di pa kami kinakasal eh pwede pa din ba ma earn yung points na yun? Or kailangan married para makuha yung 5 pts? Salamat!!

hello guys, i have a concern. sa eoi and visa application, may mga work experience akong hindi included - ito yung mga 'not related' employment, employment for very short periods (less than 6 mos) na hindi ko narin pina-assess sa assessing body as skilled employment. but come form 80, i need to disclose all since it requires that there should be no gap in my work history. do you think it will be an issue if there's a discrepancy in my eoi and visa application vs my form 80? i can still prove the points i'm claiming eventhough i did not disclose all of my work experience in the eoi and visa application.

A few questions po, about dun sa claiming ng points for work experience, kailangan ba sa same company or industry ko makuya yung 3 yrs na work experience bago maging eligible sa points? - hindi kailangan na from same company or industry as long as related sa nominated occupation mo yung job mo.

Also sa assessment by EA, hindi ba too optimistic yung 15 points?

Or kailangan married para makuha yung 5 pts? Salamat!! - pwede naman ang de facto relationship.. but you need to prove na nagsasama na kayo or meron kayong genuine partnership.. may mga hihinging proofs of relationship sa inyo.. alam ko possible na makuha ung 5 points basta ma-prove nio ung partnership nio..

@raspberry0707- thanks yup nakita ko din sa youtube na very effective ung garlic to lower the BP. Will do it every night bef going to bed heehe..
After that, pinauwi na ako.Natakot din ako sa magiging results, baka ma deny application ko dahil doon.
So far, naging okey naman lahat. na grant naman Visa ko.
