Resident or Non-Resident for Tax Purposes - Visa 475

Hi everyone! My husband and I are in Visa 475 (not 457!) which is a provisional visa and we are now both working here in WA. Nalilito lang ako sa TFN declaration namin, should we be considered as resident or non resident for tax purposes.

The letter we recieved from ATO when we requested for TFN clearly stated that we are non-resident. However, don sa TFN declaration guidelines, parang we may also be considered as Resident. It is also clearly stated there that DIAC's basis for resident/non-resident is different with ATO.

Malaki ba ang difference ng tax withheld for resident vs non-resident? For those under Visa 475, please share your experience. Thank you very much in advance!

for me b4 ganun din when i submit may tax declarion i check yung non resident tax purpose at malaki yung tax sa akin pero no problem naman kasi because when you file your income tax at the end of the financial year marefund ka rin.In my case before 100% yung refund sa akin basta your income is in lower bracket,w/c means if yor income is below 50k( correct me if i am wrong) you won't be tax,otherwise kung more than that you will be tax already...

Hi, I am not 100% sure pero ang alam ko for tax purposes eh resident ang classification ng provisional visas... My brother kc dati under student visa and nung ginawa ko ung tax nya online, pinili ko ung resident for tax purposes... May mga definitions kc ung ATO kung ano ung resident for tax purposes and pasok ung international student dun...

Hi! Pwede po bang magApply ng TFN kahit nasa pinas pa lang? maybe 7 days before nung actual flight mo to OZ.... tnx

We have tried that.. and hindi pwede..
Unless alam mo na ang address mo sa AU.. but im not sure kung naka-link ang website nila sa immigration, to check kung dumating kana talga..
