@pcasing as per immigration legislation, it only considers onshore experience if the applicant is in Australia. Hence, it’s called “onshore”. Which stage of your application are you at now?

The assessing authority would most likely consider your work experience if it’s relevant to your nominated occupation but when it comes to claiming points for onshore or offshore experience, it has nothing to do with the skills outcome assessed by the authority. Yours, I believe (based on the limited info provided) should still be considered offshore experience so be careful as you may be over claiming points.

Question lang po sa mga nagpa-assess sa IPA, tumitingin po ba si IPA sa sectioning ng schools para masabi if comparable to Australian bachelor degree ang education ng applicant? Nagpa-assess ako sa CPAA, my other school belonged to section 1, but some of my subjects were taken in a section 2 school. Although CPAA assessed my 1st degree positively, it wont recognize those subjects which i have taken in the section 2 school.

I'm contemplating between sitting in CPAA's foundational exam or to apply for assessment in IPA. Help please.

Sa mga nakakuha po ng positive assessment sa CPAA, IPA, or ICAA, by any chance pwede po ba makihiram ny syllabus and course mapping? I will just compare it with mine and see what went wrong because I'm a bit lost. Karamihan po kasi sa nababasa ko na nabibigyan ng negative assessment ay dahil sa walang accounting theory. In my case, I have accounting theory, so I dunno bakit ako negative sa assessment. Thanks po.

@pinanay you’re better of asking an explanation from the assessing authority rather than comparing syllabus from previous applicants. That way, you can argue your case better as you cannot reason to them based on the results of previous applicants. They would most likely reply by saying each case is different.

I’ve only used IPA once for a client as that was her preferred authority and never again would I want to deal with them. Also had an issue with them which I questioned as I didn’t agree with how they dealt with my client’s case. I stood my ground and they stood theirs. In the end, I demanded for a refund for my client as I found a loop hole. They granted a refund in the end. Went to CPAA instead and the issues we had with IPA didn’t become an issue with CPAA. Also, customer service was so much better. I stayed using them since then.

@batman thanks for the reply. I received CPAA's reply just now. Ito daw po ang reason:

"We follow strict guidelines set by the Australian Government Department of Education and Training, Country Education Profiles, and determined the level of your qualification from your second school against the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF), as this institution falls under the Grade Point System it is determined by your average grade overall, therefore depending on the Average grade and where your score falls on the scale this qualification can either be an Associate degree or a Bachelor degree, and therefore as we can only consider content from qualifications at a Bachelor degree level it is unfortunate that we cannot consider your subjects from your second school."

Given this, I think my next step is to take the FAR foundation exam.

@RheaMARN1171933 Thank you very much for the heads up. Personally, I decided to go for CPAA because they are more customer-friendly and most of the applicants in this thread use CPAA. I tried emailing IPA days ago and havent received a single reply up to now. Your insight somehow confirmed my gut feel.

Sa mga nagpeprepare po for the FAR foundation exam and sa mga nag-take na po, would appreciate tips, ideas, and review materials for us who plan to sit in the FAR exam in the thread below:

@pinanay The foundation exams are a closed-book exams as against the CPA program which are not.

I have a pdf copy of the FAR study guide and willing to share if you want. However, it is not the latest version though, but it might help you in a way or another.

    All the best!

@RheaMARN1171933 sis question about skills assessment if irrequired sa situation ko. I'm a 457 visa - accountant general. My employer would like to sponsor me for RSMS 187 visa direct entry (not eligible for transition due to yrs of employment). I apply and qualified to be associate member ng CPAA, so i'm thinking kung enough na yun membership at hindi na irequire skills assessment. Yun ielts ko kasi writing 6, the rest over 7. Need ng cpaa atleast 7 for skills assessment. Thank you.

@hannahmi not really. To be honest, you don’t even need to be a CPA. As long as you’re degree is equivalent to an Australian bachelor degree and have done the mandatory subjects for Accountant (general), that’s enough already.
