@lhenglheng what do you mean nagpa-assess kayo sa NIA and got a favorable answer pero wala pang skills assessment?...kse yun na po ang skill assessment, if i am not mistaken... btw, ano pong profession yung NIA?...CPA Asutralia po kse ako nagpa-assess for Accountants...

@vhoythoy ask ko lang po, nagbayad po ba ang wifey mo to be a member tlga as Associate CPA sa CPA Australia?... kse dun din po ako nagpa-assess pero hindi pa ako nagbabayad ng membership...and i think it will expire next year (5 years after) ... dapat ba talaga magbayad and magpa-member to be a certified Associate Member?...what if nag-lapse na po, will that require me to apply again??

@staycool, i think you are referring to psychoboy's wife not mine hahaha. For assessment purposes i think not required. You are required for membership if gusto mo magpursue ng cpa australia certification which is different from assesmment purposes. Yan ang alam ko

@staycool - pwede po ito... practically anywhere in the world naman pwede magtake ng exams, like sa singapore for instance meron talaga office ang cpa australia doon kaya walang problema. in other countries na probably wala sila office, they usually hire someone to administer the test locally so wala din problema.

    hope this helps!!

Vetassess kasi internal audit work ko ngayun but accountants din work ko dati and independent auditor. Yup pwede dito may testing center dito sa Sg. Based on what i've heard is pwede mo dalhin yun binder or notes mo during the exams kasi open book sya. Not so hard daw basta aral syempre. Good thing din is malaki membership nya and may mutual agreements cpaa sa CIMA uk and sa CGA canada yata so yun ok sya if may balak ka lumipat someday. CPA australia is more on designation intended sa accountanta working in commercial/ private firms while CA is more on audit firms. Ang maganda nman sa CA is parang post graduate studies ang classification nya, recgnised by GAA and AiCpa of US. Cpa is mostly multiple choices while CA is essay.

#1 You can probably try that...

#2 Or you can make a tabular listing of the subjects contained in accounting theory (also known as accounting concepts and principles) and match it with the particular accounting course you have undertaken you think is closely similar to what CPAA is looking.

My wife did the above and it was okey naman; I agree with you that accounting theory is incorporated in a couple of subjects so we just submitted an additional document to show #2.

Hope this helps!! I know CPAA Accounting Theory can be a pain in the backside but you just have to help convince then that pwede yung degree mo.

hello @psychoboy, this is my first post and I am still preparing my documents and waiting for the result of my ielts. I am planning na to resign from my current work and focus na lang on my small business while waiting for the result of my cpaa assessment and visa. Ang question ko lang is may possibility ba na maging unsuitable ako if at the time of assessment wala na ako work? I already have 8 years working experience (2 years as internal audit and 6 years as accountant).

and another question is since I have a small business, pwede ko din ba isama yung mga business docs ko to prove that I am a business owner and I will just prepare na lang statutory declaration regarding the accounting work I am doing?

@lonelygirl - first of all, goodluck in your decision to quit work while working on your papers...

they will not take it against you that you will get unsuitable assessment if you are not engaged in a full time corporate work. in fact corporate work has nothing to do with assessment as the latter only takes into account what you have studied previously in college to determine whether papasa yun sa standard ng accounting bodies in australia (i.e CPAA, etc...)

i dunno how you can include business ownership as part of your work experience; search for this nalang in the assessing body you are interested in engaging. they should have details for this.

    goodluck!!

I don't quiet get it... You mentioned CPA program but you have taken vetassess? CPA and VETASSESS are 2 different entities.

As far as I know (in CPA Australia), migration assessment is a different procedure from membership assessment. In my wife's case, she paid separately for both assessment. Not with respect to her membership assessment expiring if the membership was not activated, I am not entirely sure on this...

is it not that when we have our vetasses (profession assessment), it gives us the chance to be a member as long as we pay the membership fee? like in my case, CPA Australia po ako nagpa-assess ng profession ko, is that different from having CPA Autralia assess you for "migration" purpose from assessment as to being a member?

And kung member na po kayo sa CPA Australia, then you can take/enroll for the CPA Program?...

Pasingit medyo nalito din ako hahaha. Sa vetassess ako nagpaassess for internal audit but im not sure kung professional organisation sila and needs membership fees. I only transact with then for this skill migration assessment purposes.

For cpa australia, you need to pay separately for migration assessment and for annual membership fees. Para ma maintain mo yung good standings mo sa cpaa you need to pay your annual dues similar to other organisations such as picpa, iia, isaca. Yung bayad sa cpaa for migration purposes i think one time basis lang yan

@vhoythoy and @psychoboy okay, nakuha ko na po ang tungkol sa payment... kung ganun po, kung interesado ako maging CPA sa australia, i need to enroll for the CPA Program of CPA Australia, ayt?...does that mean I need CPA Australia to assess my qualifications again? And di po ba in order to enrol for the CPA Program offered by CPA Australia, you need to be a member, an Associate member for the meantime, (meaning, paying dues ... and being re-assessed again, which is different from being assessed for migration purpose (?))

So after po dapat ng asseesment sa akin 5 years ago, hindi ako agad agad pwedeng kumuha ng CPA Program dito sa Pinas or pwede po sana?...

eto nalang po, paano po maging CPA sa Australia?...kse po tayong mga CPAs dito sa Pinas hindi totally CPAs ng Australia, ayt?...as my agent told me, we are only "Associate" members palang...when we complete the CPA Program and take all the exams and pass it, then we become CPA of Australia... as @Psychoboy mentioned, yung mga taga-SG kumukuha na ng CPA Program doon kse it is being offered there...pwede bang kumuha lang kahit hindi member ng CPA Australia?...kumbaga, independently kukuha at mag-e-enrol ka lang sa CPA Program to be an Australian CPA?...

    1. Get membership assessment; submit docs (including syllabus) as indicates sa website. TAKE NOTE THAT THIS IS DIFFERENT SA MIGRATION ASSESSMENT.

    2. If ok lahat, pwede ka na magpa-activate ng membership mo and become an associate member. If they are not satisfied with your education, they will mention naman what are your deficiencies and kailangan mo mag exam for this.

    3. After you activated your membership, pwede ka na mag-enrol and study for the what they call the professional level papers. You need to pass 4 core subjects and 2 elective subjects.

    4. Meanwhile you can work on your professsion experience; if gaya mo may experience na, pwede mi ipa-assess ito and gain credit for it. More details c/o google on this.

    Hope this helps!

Nope. You cannot be automatically become associate of cpa australia kahit cpa kana sa pinas. You are required na mag member at magpasa ng assesment sa knila to check kung qualified ka to be an associate. Dun kasi malalaman kung nasan stage ka na like need mo pa ba mag foundation courses or diretso na professional route. Then my mga series of exams yan and other requirements before maging cpa australia.

Yung mga officemates ko na nag take dito sa Singapore for CpA australia, tapos na sila magpaasses and got their associate designation which is "ASA" yata. Kumbaga di pwede magtake ng exams agad agad prior to assessment and being a member of CPAA

In addition, alam ko for professional level, maximum of 2 modules lng pwede mo take a year kaya aabot yan ng mga 3 years to complete. Ang main consideration din jan is cost kasi medyo masakit din sa bulsa ung membership dues and exam fees.

Sorry but I don't quiet agree with your statement above @vhoythoy; as far as I know, wala naman sinabi ang CPAA na maximum of 2 module lang ang pwede i-take in a year. Ang sinasabi lang nila is that they recommend 1 subject per semester so that makes it 2 in a yr and 3 yrs to complete.

My mistake.

mga sir @psychoboy and @vhoytoy, so in conclusion, yung VETASSESS ko ng CPA Australia does not give me the opportunity to be an automatic Associate member pala ones i paid the membership fee?...yung expiration after 5 years from assessment (in my case na before 2012 nagpa-assess) is only for my "migration" purpose lang pala...all the while i thought ang vetassess sa migration is already the assessment to be an automatic associate member...sad...

thank you very much for the information...naliwanagan na po ako...so kahit mag-expire next year ang assessment ko for "migration" walang kinalaman sa pagpapaassess ko dapat sa pag-apply being an associate member...

mahaba habang proseso pa pala to and matagal tagal and MAHAL...dapat AUD na ang earnings to afford this kind of studies...tsk, tsk....

maraming maraming salamat po sa information you both...

@staycool - i think the confusion was because you are using the word "VETASSESS"...

correct me if im wrong, if you had your skills assessment from CPAA, then you have a CPAA skills assessment. and not VETASSESS skills assessment....

EXACTLY... :) VETASSESS and CPAA are 2 different creatures.

Then again, the assessment of @staycool was done some yrs back so it might have been a different process from what we know today.
