    Good day to All!

I am planning to work in Australia and below are my qualifications:

ERP Functional Consultant - 6 months to date (MS Dynamics Navision)
    Business Consultant - 8 months
    General Accountant - 5 years
    CPA

May mga question lang po ako:

    1. Mas madali ba sakin kung mag apply ako as Accountant? Yun kasi ang nakalagay sa SOL. Subclass 175 VISA.

    2. Or kung mag apply naman ako as ERP Functional Consultant, anong VISA subclass po ang applyan ko?

    3. Gusto ko po sana is mag apply ng work habang andito sa Pilipinas at the same time will prepare my documents like VISA, IELTS, etc. Mas OK po kaya yung ganon? Hinde din naman ganon kahaba ang pisi ko, wala po akong malaking budget. At most na siguro is 250taw.

for me Accountant in 189 visa. Process your visa before you apply overseas. 250k is more than enough lalo na kung magisa ka lang at walng agent.

you can actually google cpa australia website for assessment requirements. And you should take academic ielts first kasi required yan ng cpaa

I have a colleague who sent assessment for Accountant sa CPAA. Mostly sa agent nya kasi pinapapaasikaso lahat and paminsan minsan lng kmi magkausap. Nareceived nya assessment nya from CpAA ok nman daw except sa yng education nya daw is not inline sa Accountant dahil sa "theory of accounts" n subject. Nagstudy sya sa San Beda and cpa din. Mandatory daw un is option yata na nilagay eh mag take sya ng accouting theory s cpaa. Any one na may advice for him?

It is accounting theory not theory of accounts... Because of this, hindi sya makakuha ng positive skills assessment. Common waterloo for accountants all over the world who wanted to get migration assessment from CPA Australia.

Ano sabi ng migration agent nya? He can take the exam for accounting theory, that is one option BUT ang maging complication nito is that CPAA will not accept his previous work experience as these were obtained prior to finishing the required accounting theory subject.

hello TasBurrfoot :) You've mentioned before that your wife made a matrix of all the subjects used for her assessment. Do you still have the softcopy of that document. Can you share it with us here or maybe you can pm nlng if its confidential. Thanks a lot.

May isang accountant who took the exam for accounting theory; what she did was parang hindi na nya sinama sa DIAC yung work experience assessment ng CPAA (which was ZERO as she took the accounting theory exam just to pass the migration assessment); her reasoning was, it is DIAC who will have the final say on how many points to give for her work experience. Her gamble paid off and she was awarded points I believe by DIAC based on what she claimed and she now has her 189 visa.

Back read nalang to find her... :)

    Hi Guys,
I posted some time ago about my skilled employment not being considered by cpa australia since i took their accounting theory exam last dec 2012 and only experiences after that would be considered from their end. i was initially assessed as 11/12 completed subjects and accounting theory was the lacking mandatory part. anyway, after consulting an Au agent and had my experiences assessed, i proceeded with my diac application submitting only my detailed COEs. I have just been granted a 189 visa. I applied last April, got allocated with CO after a week and was granted this May, recently.
I just want to let you guys know that skilled employment assessment by the assessing body is not mandatory (as also stated by DIAC) but would sure help in cases where experiences are not aligned with the ANZSCO description of an accountant (according to my agent).

    Hope this helps guys. Goodspeed.

opo, i believe iba-iba ang course title ng mga schools. yong sa akin lang po is how she presented it. i'm quited scared if the assessing body will give me a negative assessment because of this accounting theory/theory of accounts subject considering na mahal ung fee :)

The link above are the components of Accounting Theory; from it, you can make a matrix and do a cross-reference of the topic and the corresponding course you took in college wherein that topic was discussed...

@vhoythoy, your friend can follow the advise as proposed by TasBurfoot which would take him/her more time though I understand that the Accounting Theory exam by CPAA is relatively easy.

Or he/she can change his/her nominated occupation to External Auditor which does not require Accounting Theory. This path is what I did after receiving a negative assessment from CPAA for Accountant-General despite my appeal showing the details of my accounting subjects relevant to the CPAA's Accounting Theory requirement.

Your friend can also file for appeal if he/she wishes however this will take another four weeks of waiting time without any assurance of a favorable outcome.

I understand that your friend is a manager in a mid-tier firm so I suppose he/she is in external audit.

    Hope this helps!

Hi @sticky_note, this is what I think and anyone can refute it.

I believe the CPAA requires the school syllabus with the applicable school year for assessment since they also consider the school year when you completed your Accountancy degree. As there have been significant changes in Accounting Standards in recent years, those who completed their degrees on or before 2002 maybe required by CPAA to retake the Accounting Theory. You may claim that you have been to various seminars/workshops on new Accounting Standards subsequent to graduation however CPAA will not consider such seminars/workshops as these were taken after completion of your bachelor's degree.

On the other hand, I also think that CPAA is a profit oriented organization so they will earn more by requiring significant number of applicants to take the Accounting Theory exam despite various proof showing successful completion of the same by the applicant.

    Yours truly,
    Slightly sour graping ;)

Or you can try convincing them that the Accounting Theory part has been covered in various college classes you have taken 10 yrs back... ;)

    lol, san na si footloose.

Yep, most of this acctg/ audit organisation is nagiging profit center na din, but well they needs some moolahs to survive. Ako if i pay all these membership fees, training and seminars for their cpes, and certificate maintenance fees from picpa/isaca/acfe/iia eh sadyang mabigat sa bulsa kaya hesitant pa ako mag member ng cpaa kasi di na kaya ng budget ko now lol.
