@wynx - mate sa awa ng diyos, her 8 yrs experience was fully credited. this was because hindi rin kasi sya nagka problema sa skills assessment. right from the start wala talaga problem so ayun...

yung case ni @CPAGirl common ito - ika nga waterloo talaga ang accounting theory for most people. may work around naman nyan which is to take the exams (which i heard is relatively easy), ok na skills assessment only to find out yung work experience not being credited.

maam cpagirl, if i may ask... what is your points if you exclude work experience?

    cheers!!

think it is ok matey @wynx - can't remember seeing saying that kaila gan may points ka for work experience however suntok sa buwan to get 60 pts. dapat all or nothing max sa age, education and IELTS in order to get 65ts (see below)

    age - 30pts (max)
    education - 15pts(max)
    IELTS - 20pts(max)

other options may be to get partner skills assessed (+5) and state sponsorship (+5) - but even state sponsorship may be complicated as they need minimum number of yrs as work experience. dito definitely kailangan nila ang opinion ng assessing body.

@wynx - ang problem kasi 11/12 nga sya like you pero nadali sya sa accounting theory. this subject kasi is classified as mandatory - apat sila na ganila ang class. now ang kailangan para maipasa ang skills assessment is a minimum of 8/12 with all 4 mandatory course passed.

pwede sana sya nagbigay mg added documentation to convince CPAA that accounting theory was studied before in college albeit in many classes probably.

ayun, i guess not much to do at this point as the assessment has been done already.

@psychoboy baka naman gusto nya subukan ang assessment sa ibang authority. nasasayangan kasi ako sa work experience nya kung walang bearing ang kakahantungan nya sa kanyang application.

that is what i suggested sa itaas - sayang talaga ang worm experience, 10pts din yun eh...

yung nga lang panibagong bayad na naman ito and the other assessing bodies, dapat bayaran ang pagpa assess ng work experience unlike sa CPAA na free sya.

    goodluck @CPAGirl!! keep us posted...

Hi @psychoboy , I am also thinking that i might have the same problem with @CPAGirl, since there is no accounting theory subject in my curriculum, but i initially thought of taking the exam in CPAA also. In which case can we just forgo CPAA skilled employment assessment and leave it to DIAC to entirely assess the employment. I read somewhere in CPAA website that skilled employment assessment is optional (correct me if I'm wrong).

Furthermore, I also plan to make a matrix of CPAA accounting theory course content with my curriculum on my application para more detailed, Can you give us the accounting subjects you highlighted to CPAA, i suppose the course contents are somewhat similar here in the PH (just so we don't miss something else). Thanks.

Never do this, as what I mentioned above DIAC are not the best authority to judge whether your work experience can be classified as relevant or not. Chances are, they may still need the employment assessment of CPAA

Do this please!! This is what my wife did; ang course outline for accounting theory is contained in the below link. Make sure that you individually map each topic as to the corresponding course
that you have taken in college. From your prospectus, they can be able to see whether or not tama ba ang sinasabi mo. Unfortunately I cannot be able to give you the subjects, di ko maalala as there were around 10 of them eh. Coming from a non-business background I could not be able to recall all of those. If I manage to find the file, I will let you know.

Thanks, I plan to map exactly there course outline to my acctg. subject topics, but only for Accounting Theory, the rest could just be foundation knowledge vs. subjects taken. Is this just fine?, since most just not get pass accounting theory. Do you also think the no. of hours taken in those subjects would matter? In my syllabus, my school indicated the no. of hours taken on each. They might not be satisfied and could be reason for denial.

Would also be a big help if you can share the file if you find it :) Thanks a lot!

What we did, we mapped out everything (including the 11 other courses) - just to be very sure... :) if you can do this, mas better cguro!

my wife's syllabus did not contain any data which indicated the number of hours...

    hi guys..
thank you for all your comments. i've spoken to various agents, at iba iba ang stand nila. some said its a risk, one said to claim only minimum of 3years out of the almost 8 years. some said that case officer would seek points advice letter if the docs you presented concerning your employment are not that strong. one said that the rules for skills assessment and points test are two different things. makes all things more confusing.

@brian83 - yes i have read about that advice letter as not being mandatory and that "DIAC having the final say". i've also read in the migration blog of DIAC, their resource commenting, "that in cases where your relevant assessing authority does not provide opinion on your experience, case officer decides how many points you will be awarded with. in assessing skilled employment, case officers would conside requirements set by the relevant assessing authority and their points advice if the supporting documentation provided by the applicant is insufficien to support their claim."
Depends on the case officer, i think, for as long as you show strong experience and functions/roles as an accountant and you're doing skill level roles not like a bookkeeper or something.
    http://migrationblog.immi.gov.au/2012/12/14/skills-assessments—helping-you-fit-into-the-australian-labour-market/

@psychoboy - my points are as follows. i have also considered of possibly going for the 190 and also having assessed by ICAA. but i haven't decided yet.:-)

    IELTS - 10
    Degree - 15
    Age - 30
    Experience - 10

will keep you guys posted on updates. i haven't finalized my mind on which strategy to take yet.

    thank you so much.

@CPAGirl we more or less have the same score. You may also try to explore the "other factor" option. One of which is to be is credentialled in one community language http://www.naati.com.au/, this is equivalent to 5 points and cost i think is 10k, less than what you would pay for ICAA assessment, which may not guarantee positive result.

@brian83 yes i've heard this one also. but can we take this here in the philippines? i thought that we can only take the exam in Australia. yes, we definitely want to save up some cost.
the reason why i took the exam din is i wanted to experience how the exam process would be since i also plan to take full CPA membership status in Au. Right now, ive completed all of the foundation level and got in as associate member already of cpaa. but ofcourse, i did not know at that time the repercussion of things. at saka bago lang kasi yan na meron 4 mandatory subjects. dati it was just plain 9/12 requirement.
anyway, hope to hear from you on my query above. thank you.

    Hi @CPAGirl

There are several options available. http://www.naati.com.au/booklets.html

I'm not sure now whether it's just 10k, might be confused reading it last night. I will go through it again medyo di ko pa magets yung step-by-step process. hehe Will let you know :)

    Hi All,

I have a question, is the Visa Fee paid upon lodging the EOI or upon invitation?

In which case where in one criteria the case officer is not satisfied (e.g. skilled employment), Will the fee be forfieted or you can complete the requirements later on without additional payments (e.g. having positive ICAA assessment). Thanks.

@Brian83 if i may answer, the 3,060 AUD visa application is to be paid when you lodge your application upon receipt of your invitation to apply. :)

@Brian83 - neither, you will pay upon lodgement of you visa application which is after you lodge eoi and after you get your invite...

thing is if the case officer is not satisfied with what you have claimed as per eoi and visa application (both should match) - high probability that they will reject your visa application and ma forfeit bayad mo.

@Brian83 are you trying to say that once you received your invitation you will start your visa application and put it on hold until you satisfy all the requirements?

if im not mistaken, at EOI stage you should make sure that you have all the requirements needed because this will be the requirements that you will use when you lodge your application. Because you should make sure that the points you claimed on your EOI are supported with back up documents.

@Brian83 - come to think of it parang mejo confused ka sa whole process - for cpaa, the flow usually is:

    1. collate docs
    2. take IELTS
    3. secure skills assessment
    4. lodge EOI
    5. apply for visa
    6. PCC
    7. medicals
    8. visa grant

let us know if you think otherwise as per what you know.
