@staycool usually agencies and they make a lot of money out of it. But meron rin naman mga direct hiring. Like yung sa akin, direct hire ako. Your best bet to avoid agents is to look at company websites and check out their available job postings.

If I may suggest po, mga peeps!

    LinkedIn.

I was ignoring my LinkedIn account for so long. Akala ko wala namang maidudulot na tulong. Was I so wrong. May 3 ng headhunters nag email sakin from my linkedin account. Promising eh?

So, yung LinkedIn account niyo, I suppose, should be informative enough, showing years of experience in the field.

    Goodluck po sa lahat! :)

The most important aspect of online networking talaga is that your profile is out there.

May tinatawag po sila ditong "recency of practice". And ilang years ka working in that field.

So, sulat mo lang lahat. The more work experience, the better. Preferably related. Hehe. :D

As to interview, mostly skype or phone. Lalo na overseas ka pa, tama?. I think what's most important is that kung ano yung sinulat mo sa CV mo ay mapapanindigan mo during the interview. That you have docs to back it up or may masasabi ka when asked.

    @staycool - no i applied sa SEEK...

on your question re: peeps, yung job interviews po ba need pa ng resume, curriculum vitae na ime-mail?...or puro online na po lahat ng applications? - mejo naguguluhan ako sa mga sinasabi mo. when you are invited for a job interview, the interviewer will be needing your resume definitely. chances are, sila na mismo mag print ng resume mo. BUT just to be sure, you can ask if you need to bring them a hard copy yourself.

gov't job can be applied by anyone as long as they qualify the requirements... take note that MOST gov't openings can only be applied if you are a citizen.

Actually, medyo naguhuluhan din ako re:government jobs. Like sa akin, I work in a public hospital which is funded by the government of queensland, ibig ba sabihin government employee ako?

Or govt jobs ba tipong Australian Tax Office, or Transportation Authority, etc....? Di ko rin gets. :-/

correct! some headhunters will put a higher premium on your experience wherever you gained it.. :)

tanong po..better po ba tawagan iyung agent or send nalang via email? Baka kasi di maganda usapan agad namin over the phone kasi baka may struggle pa sa pagkakaintindihan.

I just want to share my experience in my job hunting in Australia. I arrived in Perth last April 21. I immediately submitted my job applications online via seek, my career, onecareer and other countless job hunting sites. All in all I submitted about 85 applications before my first month here, I had 4 interviews. First with ANZ, second with a job hunter, third and fourth is with Westpac.

During my first couple of weeks, nakakapanghina ng loob kasi buti tumawag yun ANZ, pinoy pa nag interview sa akin since they are outsourcing their recruitment at least sa initial screening in manila. Sabi ko bak a may pag Asa na magkawork agad pero I still submitted my online applications. I was averaging 3 applications a day. Wala ako ginawa buong araw kind maghanap ng job openings in the banking and finance industry. On my third week i received a call from west pac and they wanted me to come for an interview. It was a panel interview, after the interview I thought I was able to answer their questions based on my experience in the philippines. I was told that they would let me know the short listed candidates by the following week since they would not like the candidates waiting. After the interview I still submitted my online applications and kasabay nun mga rejection emails na rin.

The following week, on a monday I received a call from westpac I they want me to have an interview in the branch where the opening was located. My appointment was 11am. I arrived there 11.30am. Maling direction ng bus ang nasakyan ko. I thought I was screwed, blew my chance but I had the no. Of the interviewer so I called when I was in the bus and explained to him that I made the mistake buti he understood. Since lunch time na rin, he invited me for a coffee. The interview was very casual. We parted ways after 50mins. The following monday they called, it was exactly 30days after I arrived, they said they were Offering me the position. I felt happy and nervous. I just finished all the pre employment reqs like references and mga online consents for my background checks.

Today, I received the formal job offer online. My advise is apply Lang ng apply wag panghihinaan ng loob. Customized your application letters that would suit the position. The odd thing is that I had only one resume, I did not changed it sa course ng pag aapply ko. My format is simple, list you job responsibilities and your achievements nothing else. I did not even attached my picture I.D at bka lalo di ako matanggap hehe, no birthdate but mention your residency status. Lastly, magdasal ng mataimtim and HE will grant Ur request.
