@wizardofOz Hehehe.. Kahit yung initial entry na plan namin this july sa Perth, cancel na din namin. Sayang din yung magagastos na ~P120k. Madi-defeat yung purpose na kaya nga kami mag stay pa muna e para madagdagan ipon. hehe. Anyway March 2016 pa naman IED namin.

Mabilis lang ang takbo ng araw. Akalain mo parang kelan lang nag-pasko, e ngayun June na. Hindi mamamalayan maya-maya december na. Pa minsan2 nakakainip, pero ganun talaga e. hehe

Siguro naman madami pa job opportunities na magsusulputan by next year. Lagi ko nababasa sa mga experience ng mga nandun na, na dapat physically, emotionally, at financially prepared sa pag move. Well eto na nga ginagawa natin, mag prepare financially.

Good luck sa decision natin. hehe

@nice_guy, tama mabilis lang talaga.. sa totoo lang medyo nagssink na sakin uli yung kaba na I need to brush my skills and be ready to look for a job once in Oz na in about 6mos time!

Tapos ngayon parang ninanamnam ko pa yung stay ko ngayon dito, pasyal pasyal out of town and ineenjoy yung mga bagay na for sure mahal na sa Oz…

Pero in a way baka may advantage din yung pag-delay ng Big Move… Like yung kwento ko na andun yung friend ko, nag-offer na sya sakin na doon na kapag nag-Big Move na ko doon na lang daw ako tumira sa kanila habang naghahanap ako ng sariling place, kahit free board and lodging na raw ako walang problema hehe..

Saka since nagwwork na sila, baka kahit papaano, matulungan din nila ako makapasok sa company nila or pwede ko silang gawing referees.. so focusing on the positive and the advantage the situation will offer lang talaga.. mind-setting ika nga..

@wizardofOz Yun din sabi ng wife ko, "i-enjoy nalang muna natin ang pag-stay pa dito". hehe
Namnamin yung mga affordable things like massage, seafoods, dental service, shopping, etc.. For sure limited na mga yan pag nasa Oz na.

Swerte mo at meron nang mag a adopt sayo pagdating mo dun. Hindi masyado mababawasan ang kayamanan mong dala habang wala pa work. hehe

Same experience tayo, nun na grant ang visa nmin, sobrang gusto na nmin pumunta dito. Kakainip talaga... Lam mo na pwedeng pwede na kami pumunta dito pero mas kinonsider nmin un financially ready kahit sure na may aampon sa amin, un bestfriend ko.
Tama naman un decision namin sa tingin ko, pinag pray nmin to, guided ni Lord definitely.
Kasi kahit after 2months may work na si hubby, halos naubos din nmin un baon nmin nun bumukod na kami ng house.
Madami din kasi gastos pag simula dito, bukod sa car na necessity.
At least un natira sa baon namin, pang 2months emergency funds... Its a must a dagdagan namin every week na sweldo ni hubby... Pay yourself ika nga.
Kaya kahit matagal kami before nag big move, ok pa rin kasi may maayos na gamit kaming nabili nun lumipat kami galing sa baon namin.
Basta guided ni Lord ang decision natin, everything will be OK ☺

Sobrang test of patience talaga. Yung feeling na within the grasp of your hand na, nanggigigil ka na, pero hindi pa pwede. hehe..

In the end, mananaig din talaga yung pagiging protective natin sa pamilya - na kelangan talagang maging secure financially dahil ayaw natin mahirapan lalo na ang mga anak natin in case matagalan sa paghahanap ng work.

This is more of a last resort, rather than just sitting idle at home waiting for a call from recruiters. There might be volunteer opportunities more related to one’s field than paid odd jobs. Who knows, you might even meet someone there who can refer you to potential employers.

Ang daming work d2 na willing magbayad and at the same time willing maging reference.

Hwag nating gawing scapegoat ang pagbo-volunteer kung nahihirapan taung makahanap ng work.

Now, kung kaya mo magtyaga magwork ng hnd sumasahod, sumakay sa tren at magcommute galing sa sariling bulsa at makipagwork sa lahat ng OZ bitches na sasahod every payday pero ikaw hindi, then tiis lang. Makakaraos din at makukuha mo character reference letter na gusto mo.

Same here sir, here in Pinas, I am a volunteer for Hands on Manila and He Cares foundation. When I get to AU, I intend to continue volunteering.

Rest assured my self-esteem can never be put down by someone’s opinion.

@lester_lugtu maybe out of context sa case ni @sydney_bristow, but just to calibrate.. not everyone who wants to volunteer, are out there just for references...

i myself would like to volunteer in an animal shelter in Oz, while i still don't have a job.. para may magawa na rin while waiting for work... and for a worthwhile cause.

Also, lahat naman just want to work things out for themselves, habang hindi pa nakakakuha ng trabaho… if there are companies willing to hire and pay us right off the bat, bakit hindi right?

But that’s not the case for everyone… so don’t be too blunt and harsh... for sure nag-iisip naman ang mga tao dito.

Ang na-observe ko, as far as I’m concern and sa mga kakilala kong na-grant ng PR visa.. yung “gigil” phase na yan would waiver after a few weeks or months…

One would soon realize na there’s more to experience in life before moving to Oz… marerealize mo kasi na once mag-move ka sa Oz, your focus and your priorities would definitely change and probably to some degree there will be no turning back…

While to some who striked the iron while it was still hot, sinuwerte makakuha agad ng work and to settle… Meron kasi talagang they really have to go (e.g. need mag-enrol ng anak, etc..)

Yung mga nagpaka-siguro naman on the other hand, ay hindi rin naman na-dehado… nagkaroon kasi sila ng time to enjoy what they have right now from where they are, at nakaipon pa sila and became more financially cushioned by the time na nag-Big Move sa Oz…

Kidding aside, talaga namang nakaka-demoralize yung walang work… at unti-unti mong nakikita na bumababa yung inipon mo..

Pero i-manage lang talaga yung stress, aside from tatanda agad, baka it may take a toll sa health natin, both physically and emotionally… especially doon sa mga Single or nasa isolated na mga lugar na walang Pinoy na support group, baka ma-depress pa tayo.. Imbes na ma-enjoy natin yung bagong buhay sa Oz, yun pa maging cause ng problema.

Share ko lang experience ko sa job hunting sa australia.. Ang masasabi ko lang dapat talaga aggressive sa paghahanap ng work. Ako it took me 45 days to land a job tho it's an odd job, a pick packer/forklift driver sa isang flower warehouse sa west melbi.. I took a 2 day training sa forklift school to increase my chances of getting a job and sa awa naman ng diyos 2 days later after ng forklift course ko may tumawag sakin na agency to work as a casual 30-40 working hrs/wk. Nakatulong siya sakin ng sobra naka ipon ako ng enough funds ko para mag prepare na ako sa nursing bridging program ko this coming last qtr of the year, since nurse talaga ako sa pinas and yun talaga ang intention ko maging career dito. Plus nababayadan ko yun bills and onting luho na gusto ko dito hehe. So ayun lang patience, prayers at budgeting ang naging formula ko para maka survive ako dito sa aussie.. I am finally going to work for my last week sa trabaho ko para maka move towards ko sa goal ko

ako 6 months. talagang matagal..
and 1st job is not ung pinapangarap ko na job dito.

and after a year from there, ok and nakakuha na din ng Job na match sa previous experience ko.. 3 years and counting. Happy and Satisfied so far (And mahirap din maghanap ng ibang worj outside with current Economic Environment).

Advice ko lang sa mga naghahanap ng work.. Prayers and Perseverance.. Dadating din yan

Di ko nasundan lahat ng post mo but just want to share about retirement especially if you have retirement benefit upon resignation. The best time to retire is February or March. Sa study ko, I receive about 120K more when I will retire in February than when I will do it very late of the year. Kasi at the start of the year, yung mga exemptions ay hindi pa exhausted... if later part of the year na, more than 500K na yung taxable income kaya yung retirement ay taxable by 32% agad... if meron mga accountant dyan, kindly verify if this is correct.

These past few days I was caught up in this dilemma also: should we move now, or stay until december to be more financially prepared?

If we decide to move now, meron naman kaming pocket money which might be good for 5-6 months na walang work. It's quite tempting, and had come to the point where I already printed my resignation letter. Pero napag isip-isip ko, pag nag-resign ako kelangan ko pa din mag stay ng 3 months as per notice period agreement sa company ko ngayon. After 3 months (September), only 3 months nalang ulet e December na!
Besides, walang nag-aantay na work kaya medyo mataas ang risk.

Now kung makakapaghintay kami hanggang december, I calculated na magiging double ang aming magiging baon. Pwedeng kahit mag kuyakoy muna ng ilang months kahit walang work.
Yun nga lang, sayang ang mga job opportunities na lalagpas.

In the end, we decided to stay put muna. I-maximize ang pag-iipon at hintayin ang mga malulutong na bonus sa december, para mas lalong maging financially prepared at ma lessen ang risk. Mahirap makipagsapalaran lalo at may anak, at walang masyadong kakilala sa Au.

just want to share it took 3 months before i got the job related in engineering field.
i am test product engineer in singapore for 6 yrs then migrate dito.
for the first 3 months madami tawag puro head hunter but it did not push through.

so seek ng seek and i attended engineers australia seminar related to my field.
since wala akong "local" experience I used this seminar as my "integration" path with Australian culture etc...

I was asked like what am I doing? Sabi ko I'm a member Engineers Australia (nagpamember po ako discounted if new migrant) ... I attended technical seminar and symposium ...
Doon din sa inattend ko seminar ng engineers australia tips resume writing, networking is very important, linkedin is the thing here and local experience does not mean work it could mean "integration " with their culture so pwede trabaho,seminar,short courses etc.

Wala po akong kakilala sa company ko now , nagpasa lang ako online .
Pero it works but during my interview phase check ko linkedn who are my 2nd connection , colleague of former colleagues ayun add ko sa linkedn etc and that's networking comes in.

Syempre dasal madaming dasal. Nasa line of work pa din engineering position permanent role. Lahat inapplyan ko dati pati technician role .
I want to give credit sa asawa ko kasi sya nagsabi na wag na ako maglocal work , hanap diretso kasi pag naging busy na ako sa odd job I might miss yung opportunity.

thank u for taking time sa pagsulat ng tips. ang laking bagay tlaga mag basa basa ng forums like this. like other threads/forums they also advised na attaining a local experience there in au does not necessarily mean mag work ka , it could be in any other form as u mentioned above. I also plan to be a member of EA and attend seminars when i get there, indi lg pra mka land ng job but i am always a fan of any type of seminars. Investing in knowledge always pay d best interest.

and i strongly agree sa majority ng comments ng thread nato na wag padadala sa excitment, dpat financially ready pag mag big move kc indi biro ang maghnap ng work lalo nat may dependents like baby/kids. what me and hubby plans is mauuna muna cia, tiis2 muna ng ilang months. kc one of us has to be stable all d time. as for us, we dont wana zero off our savings/investments pra sa big move. so better na he finds work muna while m stil okay sa overseas job din..then visit2 muna ako sa au n case or apply ng work while abroad. i know na mahirap mag apply while overseas, but like anything else, everything is possible. umabot ako sa isang final interview ng very big comp dyan sa au na indi pako resident. i wud have had a better chance of nailing dt job kung resident cguro ako but im also a believer of fate other than hardwork. whats not for u will not be for u

on that experience i realized na everyone stands a chance namn in nailing a job.. other than believing in fate u need to bank on ur skills talaga. and siguro it pays na rin if u come from a big company (known globally) kc madali cguro ma shortlist.

most imprtantly as u mentioned. Dasal wd hardwork of course :0

Good luck to all your job hunting guys....just be patient and luck will be on your side...stay positive and ignore those negative vibes...if something comes that is not yet in line with your area of work or expertise, then grab it (don't be stopped by your pride hehe) then keep on applying in your field....and most especially keep on praying. Tama ipunin nyo nlang pang initial entry para may bala kau pagdating dito. Once na nandito na kau, at alam nyo may experience nman kau makakahanap din kau ng job kahit paano. Mas prefer kasi nila talga nandito. Apply2 ako dati outside Australia walang pumapansin, pagdating ko dito maraming tumatawag. Kasi nga bakit sila maghahanap sa labas eh madami naman dito sa Aussie. Got a job after a month of looking. Keep that faith hehe
