Is getting SG Salary on the first job in AU possible?

Hi guys,

Is it really possible to get the same net salary that you are getting in Singapore in your first job in Au? Some of my friends who have already moved to Au told me that they are getting less compared to when they were in Singapore..

Thanks.

Hi @fromSingaporeToAu I think ang minimum sa AU is 60-65k per anum, however some companies offer less than the minimum wage specially sa mga new migrants. For me sa lifestyle ko I can surely survive sa 60k per anum or little bit less. Not sure with other fellow pinoy here.

hi @grant512, and this is still subject to 30%+ tax tama?

Salamat sa reply. Im not trying to sound expecting too much, just trying to know as much as I can before making the big move from Singapore and to prepare most importantly for what's waiting for me in Au.

    Hi @fromSingaporeToAu ,

Hindi naman 30% agad ,dpnde sa salary mo yan.

You can check this link- http://www.paycalculator.com.au/ kasi accurate ang ibibigay sa iyo na net income.

    Tnx

IMHO, uncheck "Includes Superannuation" then divide total taxes over total pay(annually) .

@fromSingaporeToAu My brother is a motor mechanic earning $28/ hr and my sister in law is an accounting undergrad here but she was able to get an accounting job for $23/hr.. Of course subject to tax. Ok naman sila and they have decent savings.. Less stress pa from work... In fact, my sister in law was allowed to work less than 8 hrs a day kasi sya ang taga hatid sundo sa school ng pamangkin ko. Nag aadjust ang employer for the employees. I dont know lang if applicable to all. They are very happy living in australia. Consider mo na lang din siguro sa comparison ang work life balance and environment.

Yun lang, mahal din rent nila ng house.. Pero just the same, nakakaipon naman sila. They are saving up to buy their own house.:)

Goodluck po sa decision making sir! :)

@pink salamat, how about you? are you also based in Au now? thanks for sharing :)

cguro i'm still in that stage na medyo hirap pa akong tanggapin yung possibility na posibleng less ang maging earnings ko sa Au or just a bit higher compared sa SG kase who would want that in the first place di ba? kahit pa alam natin yung ibang benefits na meron tayo pag nasa Au na.. I am still hoping na sana I can still get a better paying job in Au but if not at the moment, then ayos na rin given the better life that I can have in Au in the long run.

Cguro if u have the skills set na in demand or rare maybe u can haggle the offer. Ako kasi ang comparison ko is work in ph vs au...sa sg kasi lahat temporary..any moment cancel contract mo..hndi marenew pass mo or end of project uwi ka na. As long as i can get a work related to my current experience eh ok nko..khit break even sa gastos..kesa sa negative income and struggling..you can always work ur way up..upskill is important lalo na stiff competition dhil kalaban mo pag IT mga anaps which is puro daldal pro hndi quality magwork

Pero marami pong nasa Au na galing SG and siguro sila ang mas makakapag bigay ng magandang comparison ng Pros and Cons of transferring to AU.

    IMHO, AU kana.

My superannuation ( 9.25%) + pwede ka maging PR or citizen.

Sa SG suntok sa buwan ang pag apply ng PR or even pag renew ng work visa.

Hindi lang dapat salary ang icoconsider mo...in Au you have centrelink na pwedeng tumulong sa yo, medicare, superannuation at iba pang social services...migrating is a major decision and dapat you have done your research before applying. Ano ba priorities mo? Consider mo rin high cost of living. Kailangan may ipon to kickstart your new life in Au especially na not all migrants may work agad pagdating..3-6 mos buffer is enough.

Yes, hindi lang dpat salary ang iconsider. One example is ung healthcare mo d2 sa SG, under work pass. Ubos lahat savings mo kung magkaemergency ka, unless na PR o citizen ka or if you have insurance. (happened to one of my friend)

For salary wise, dito ako nagchcheck
    SG --> http://www.payscale.com/research/SG/Job=Systems_Engineer_(Computer_Networking_/_IT)/Salary

    AU --> http://www.payscale.com/research/AU/Job=Systems_Engineer_(Computer_Networking_/_IT)/Salary

For comparison for cost of living --> http://www.numbeo.com/cost-of-living/compare_cities.jsp?country1=Singapore&country2=Australia&city1=Singapore&city2=Sydney&tracking=getDispatchComparison
Note: costs are not that accurate

    Do the math na lang.

Kung icompare mo ung median salary ng AU & SG, I can save a little bit more sa AU compare s monthly savings ko d2 sa SG. Plus you have all the benefits na sinabi ni @fgs sa AU.
In SG under work pass... good luck!

@nochipogi yup, Au pa rin naman ako. Still finalizing kung kelan ako move at kung saang state but the priority is to land a job first kahit saang state muna.

And true, I did try to apply for PR here in SG but was rejected.. That's the driving factor din to pursue the Au PR.

    hi,
yes, possible nman na u can land a job na mas malaki ung sweldo as compared sa SG pero cguro depende kung anong klase ng job. I also came from SG. moved here in 2011 and fortunate enough na during that time nakakuha ng work na mas mataas ung salary as compared s ntatanggap ko non SG. Pero since almost 1:1 ang exchange rate ngayon maybe parehas lang if nag stay ako ng SG, nung 2011 kc almos 1:1.5 sa pagktnda ko exchange rate non.
Anyhow, if ur after sa quality of life mas better dto lalo n if u have a family or planning to start 1. The public healthcare is really good - super bait pa ng mga midwives, nurses, doctors. I was able to receive 18wks paid parental leave fr centrelink, plus family tax benefit A and some rent assistance. Then c baby very monitored in terms of growth, immunization - have to visit maternal child health nurse dto until he is 4yrs old to make sure he is growing & developing properly. .
Also, they r very family oriented here - like dun sa company nmin sabi ng manager ko they will allow me to work from home 2 days in a week once I resume work.

opo, isa un sa mga benefits even un visit s GP ay libre and worthwhile nman khit malaki ung tax n nakakaltas s sweldo dhil s mga benefits n gaya nyan.
Anyhow, advise sa akin ng colleague ko to buy a private health insurance to cover the family kc kung sa public daw and u need to see a specialist doctor usually my waiting period.

ako naman - when I finally got a similar job to what I had in Singapore, it was more or less the same salary in $$ terms but when you factor in tax and superannuation (our package is total salary inclusive of super), lumalabas na I got a lesser take home pay...

Si misis naman was a massive downgrade sa 1st job nya as she used be a reporting manager in one of the big insurance firms in SG but dito she was working as assistant accountant in a local company.

But then again, you just have to work hard and eventually you will adjust na rin. Big adjustment? Yes definitely, we were no longer that trigger happy sa gastos namin as compared to Singapore before. :)

    Hope this helps!!

@fromSingaporeToAu - oo, posible. but kelangan i-set expectations, kasi as new migrant hindi ka pa that much pwede makipag-bargain, unless specific at in-demand ung skillset mo.

btw, tax ko this year sa SG is11.5%, so mataas rin, kaya dapat i-explore ang salary sacrifice kasi 15% lang tax rate pag ganun.
