I would like to know the pointing system in Writing category.
For both letter and essay type, how are the words counted? Like for example:
1. car racing - (two words/ 1 word?)
2. determinants/preposition counted? - (eg: the, at, to, of, as,and )
3. his/her - (is this two word/ 1 word?)
4. Pronouns are counted?
I would appreciate any kind of additional information.

Problem is you don't really know, dito ako bumagsak nun 1st take ko e. Hirap ng Writing talaga, subjective din kasi sa examiner. Good luck mate.

2. I bought the practice material from cambridge nung tiningnan ko kasama sa count nila yan, otherwise, kulang yung words sa mga sample specially dun sa mga 'ideal' sample.
3. 1 kung ang context eh for example "it depends on his/her ability".

Ang kagandahan dun sa cambridge material, they'll show you samples kung ano itsura ng say writing na ang score eh 6.5, 7.0, 8.0 and 'ideal' response. Yung una kong score, 7.0 sa writing, confident ako sa writing and I thought at least kaparehas ko yung sample sa book na ang score eh 8.0. I applied for remarking and eventually was given an 8.0 sa writing (balik pa S$185 ko hehe).
Ang technique na ginawa ko, kada paragraph na matapos ko, bibilangin ko. Then gawa ako small mark for my count. Of course, sinosobrahan ko. Burahin ko na lang mga mark ko later. Btw, hindi lang number of words ang basihan ng pointing system ha.

Articles, prepositions count so kung hirap kayo makabuo ng 150 word essay, punuan niyo ng maraming adjectives, adverbs, prepositions at articles hehe

It is also recommended to use variety of vocabularies, avoiding repetition of words, and check the spelling, to name a few.
Big help din ang Cambridge resources as previously mentioned. Most importantly, yung mga samples taken from various Writings will give an idea of a good score.
