Unless you are person of interest or you look suspicious or something maliit ang chance na i check nila ang external hdd mo. Sobrang malas mo nalang tlaga kapag ikaw pa na random check. Ang focus kasi nila tlaga is dangerous and other prohibited items like plants/ drugs/ weapons. Twice plang nman ako dumaan sa immigration/ customs sa australia (melbourne) and so far mukhang ok nman dire diretso lang. Basta make sure nlang walang mga child pornography sa hard disk mo.

Exactly. And someone posted on another thread that a colleague had his visa cancelled because they found pirated files ata on his laptop, so 2 year ban din yun.

Also, don't be complacent - they don't just inspect suspicious looking people because they'd be accused of profiling. The selection for customs checks is part of their risk assessment at usually hindi nila ididisclose yung process / criteria.

share ko lang experience ko last week, kakauwi lang namin galing Pinas.
Yung isang checkin namin pinalagyan namin ng Fragile.
Nung hinihintay na namin yung bagahe namin sa conveyor, halos isang oras na wala pa.
Tapos hangang sa 3 na lang kaming natira na nag-aantay kaya kinausap ko sila.
Sabi ko wala rin bagahe nyo? (English syempre)
Wala rin daw tapos tinanong kung fragile ba baggage namin kasi sa kanila fragile daw.
Edi pareho kami ng mga baggage na fragile kaya nagtanong tanong yung isa sa mga staff dun sa airport.
Ayun, natagpuan ang baggage namin sa kabila, meron pala oversize and fragile baggage na conveyor.
Mukhang ang tagal na nakalagay dun lol
So next time kung may fragile kayo na baggage, iba ang conveyor nyo, well sa Sydney Airport to.
Para hindi masayang oras nyo gaya ng nangyari samen hahaha...

------ACTUAL (my case) - wala akong nabasa sa declaration form about vitamins, so kahit may dala akong multivitamins, wala naman problema pagdaan sa immi...

Hi! We will go back to AU on November and i am planning to bring stainless steel pots. I prefer kase the pots na nabibili here sa pinas. Pero i don't know if papayagan, isasama ko siya sa check-in, kasama ng mga damit namin. Thank you in advance.

I have read this from the IATA website:

Free import if goods are carried by passenger:

Group 1:
General goods not exceeding AUD 900 for passengers aged 18 years and over (AUD 450.- for persons under 18 years of age), including gifts, souvenirs, cameras, electronic equipment, leather goods, perfume concentrates, jewellery, watches and sporting equipment.
Personal goods are free from duty and tax if they are:
-owned and used by passenger overseas for 12 months or more.
-imported temporarily (a security may be required by Customs).

May naka experience na ba na more than AUD900 ang value na bitbit ng jewelries and bags? Wala rin kami receipts kasi most are gifts from parents and relatives.

@pink if it is new, then hahanapan ng receipt..
I experienced it once, bago kasi nakalagay pa sa box, tiningnan ang receipt.. may tax nga if it is above $900

@pink muntik na.. pero sinabi ko sa ibang kasama ko ung ibang binili ko.. 3 kming nag travel.. so pumayag naman..

For old items sympre hndi mo na idedeclare un.. they wont ask..

Pag new lang na naka box or pag nag inspect sila..

@pink sa big move ba yung may tax ang jewelries? Kasi when we visited we did not declare those. although naka suot na sya. hindi naka box. Yung food at gatas lang dneclare namin. at yung mga gamot ko para sa hypertension. it was funny nga e kasi im not fat para mag mukhang hypertensive. yung panganay namin medyo healthy pero 4 years old lang sabi nun security: para kanino ang hypertension na gamut sau? talking to my panganay. tapos nagtawanan lang kami.
