    Hi Guys!

    Greetings from UAE!

Question lang po...we're planning to apply for PR ... naginquire kami through an agent about sa process and all...but it was too pricey (parang presyo na ng isang PR,roughly AUD 3000) and my uncle (sa Sydney) was not suggesting to go through an agency...kasi everything's available naman na daw online plus we'll save a huge amount (in which I totally agree)...Ngayon, im planning to apply simultaneously for a 189 and 190.. kaso, wala sa list ng 189 yung profession ko... here's my brief profile (as per PR requirements)

    Profession: Company Secretary (221211)

State Nomination = 5 (in case)
    Age: 29 = 30
    IELTS: 7 = 10 (but aiming for 8 hahaha! #reviewpa #eyeonthegoal)
    Degree (DLSU-D): BA Psychology = 15 ?
    Overseas Years of Experience: 8 = 15
Spouse Qualification = 5 (Husband is working as Systems and Network Admin more than 8 years experience din)

    Total Points = 80

    Not sure about the scoring...hehe.

Kasi nasa STSOL ang profession ko...and as per my research... ang state lang na nagssponsor for this ay SA at TAS.

And...as much I wanted to go for 489...hindi eligible ang uncle ko dahil...taga Sydney sya (kasama ang Sydney sa exclusions ng 489)...

Salamat sa mga sasagot! All the best!

@cookieblend Nagbabawas ang Vetassess sa years of experience kasi hindi nila kinoconsider na skilled ka starting on Day 1 of employment. So yung 8 year mo malamang mababawasan and hindi 15 points ang macclaim mo for experience.

There are two kinds of 489 applications, may family sponsored and may state sponsored. If mag-aapply ka for 190 you may also want to consider applying din for 489 state sponsored kasi additional 10 points yun.

@maguero salamat po sa sagot kabayan! ill keep that in mind... good to know na may ganong method of scoring ang vetassess... sana maabot ko ang ielts...

    Salamat! :D

@cookieblend para makakuha sa partner skills, dpat may skills assessment din xa. sabi ng iba, dpat same skill kayo ora mkkclaim but im not sure.

with your experience, query p yan kasi it depends mung ilang years ang i credit sayo.

if you're aiming 20 points in english test, try PTE. mas feasible xa mk all 79 compared to all 8 in ielts.

263111 Computer Network and Systems Engineer

Pero I wouldn't advise it kasi mahal.

    261312 Developer Programmer - (English - 20pts | Age - 30pts. | Qualification - 10 | Experience - 0 ) = 60pts.

    Subclass 189 - 60pts.
    Subclass 190 - (60 + 5 spouse points + 5 SN) = 70pts.

@maguero @kymme tnry din namin iassess ang scores ni hubby through self assessment pero mas mataas ang score ko compared to him... number one because of age and wala po shang bachelors degree... he earned his post as systems admin because of his extensive work experience and yung self-taught knowledge nia... nakakita ako na pede pa din nman kahit di graduate ng college... basta with relevant experience and through (RPL ba yun?)... pero hindi kaya maging slimmer ang chances kapag sha ang maging principal namin sa application?

Salamat guys ha! Sobrang helpful nio! >:D<

Pero up to you po. As long as ma-satisfy nyo naman yung points requirement, wala din po magiging problema. :)

@cookieblend hi, your occupation is included in South Australia supplementary list of occupations eligible for state sponsorship. Since nsa supplementary list, you need to satisfy ANY of the below 4 criteria (on top of the 3yrs mininum experienced required ng SA at english). Your occupation is open for either 190 (5points) or 489 (10 points)

    a. high points (at least 80 points including state sponsorship points)
    b. studied in SA
    c. close family ties in SA
    d. currently working in SA for related occupation

489 has two streams, relative sponsor and State sponsor. Relative sponsor is NOT applicable to you since you occupation is not in the list of occupations eligible for relative sponsor.

Not sure kung alam mo ung differences ng 190 at 489. Based sa notes mo above, mukhang tama nmn ung calculation mo pero if you will opt for 489, you will get 80 points without partner's point and considering na ma-assess sau na work experience ay 8ys and 7 each lang ung ielts.

    State Nomination = 5 (if 190), 10 (if 489)
    Age: 29 = 30
    IELTS: 7 = 10 (but aiming for 8 hahaha! #reviewpa #eyeonthegoal)
    Degree (DLSU-D): BA Psychology = 15
    Overseas Years of Experience: 8 = 15
Spouse Qualification = 5 (Husband is working as Systems and Network Admin more than 8 years experience din)

    Total Points = 80
Total points - 80 (if 489 and no need for partner's qualification)

have you submitted your skills assessment to VETASSESS so you will know whether your qualification is equivalent and the exact number of work experience you can claim?

It depends kung time ba ung priority mo at gusto mo na magsimula ng process (maybe go for 489) or willing ka to wait to achieve a higher score sa english test and/or for your partner to get skills assessment (maybe go for 190).

190 is permanent state sponsored visa, 489 is a temporary visa for 4yrs with pathway to PR after 2yrs in SA and 1 yr full time work.

@cookieblend you mentioned that your partner works as network and systems admin, you may want to explore the option of him being the primary applicant instead of you. South australia sponsors network/systems admin with minimum 70 points required (including SS point) but ONLY available for 489 visa.

IT professionals need to submit their assessment application to ACS not vetasses.

@cookieblend seems like you've researched thorough enough but just to comment on state sponsorship eligibility, you can still apply for 489 without a using a relative to sponsor you. The question is if you are really prepared to live in the outskirts of SA for a few years.

With regards to agents, definitely you can do a way without yun nga Lang kailangan magresearch very well and make sure latest info ang nabasa mo. Kahapon Lang ka-meeting ko yung director of migration ng Northern Territory and napag usapan namin na mas frequent na yung immigration changes and humihigpit na talaga. Kung before every year now every 6 month yung changes, the next one now is in January. So dapat talaga tutok. This forum is definitely a good source pero you just have to figure out which info you should take and which one you shouldn't. All circumstances are very individual so what applies to one doesn't mean it applies to all.

From my personal experience on my Australian journey many years back, I also attempted to do it myself pero naloka ako dahil I ended up with information overload! Wala pa masyadong info from internet at that time ha and Hindi pa uso forums. I can imagine how overwhelming it could get now. Anyway, I ended up using an agent because I'd rather do it right the first time then risk messing it up tapos mapapamahal pa ako or worse, I miss my opportunity to migrate. Luckily I found a cheap migration agent, so be mindful na hindi lahat over the top magcharge. This experience of mine had inspired me to study a post graduate course on Australian immigration law to be qualified as MARA agent and now i enjoy the fact that I'm able to guide other aspiring Filipino migrants in their journey on my own little way and of course those who want to engage my services, hindi ko masikmura yung ginagawa ng ibang agents na sobrang mahal magcharge, they capitalise on people which I really despise.

@Au_Vic hindi pa po ako nakakapagsubmit ng vetassess ...still preparing my docs...so hindi ko pa talaga alam kung ilang points ang maccredit...pero all of those 8 years ay talagang naging Secretary ako dito sa UAE...my first year of work dito sa UAE ( I was 20 years old) was as a receptionist sa isang recruitment firm...

about my husband, sya talaga initially ang gusto namin maging primary applicant kaso un nga mas less ang scores nia sa self assessment namin...due to age...and kawalan ng bachelors degree...but we'll go for that RPL requirement and submit it to ACS ....from there tignan namin what will happen...

@RheaMARN1171933 yeah info overload nga po ! hahaha! thats the number one reason kaya kami naginquire sa agent...and I fully understand na what they charge is equivalent don sa expertise nila...kasi infairness don sa agent na yun dami na nia napaalis na friends namin (both for Australia and Canada)...kaya we considered them.

Hopefully, everything will fall into place! Madaming dasal at tyaga lang talaga!

Salamat guys sa response! Godbless everyone ;)

@cookieblend i think the first thing you can do is to weigh your options and I would say you have to act fast coz rules are changing. Check vetassess website and gather your documents and submit it for skills assessment. Please note that vetassess is quite strict in terms of the job description/rules and responsibilities written in the employment certificate that you will submit to them, at times they match it word for word (should match sa ANZSCO job description). They now have an express assessment for an extra fee you will get the result in 10-20 days I think.

i know all of this migration and visa thing can be overwhelming but if you are patient enough to read, ask questions dito sa forum at may time ka, you can do it on your own. Marami dito sa forum ang hindi gumamit ng agent mainly to save money but if you are willing to spend extra to pay for migration agent then go for it.

Please note if you use an agent, you will still need to gather all documents yourself and give it to your agent and the agent will submit it on your behalf.

If you will visit the below websites, they have outlined the detailed steps on what to do and good information re: process

    Vetassess http://www.vetassess.com.au

    South Australia state migration http://www.migration.sa.gov.au/skilled-migrants

    DIBP https://www.border.gov.au

Another thing you need to consider, since, yung occupation mo is available sa South Australia, you have to weigh kung willing ka to live and stay in SA. Another thing to note, the entire South Australia including Adelaide (which is the capital) is considered "regional" for 489 state sponsorship purposes so meaning hindi mo need tumira sa gitna ng kawalan gaya ng common mistakes ng mga applicants kpg nadinig nila ung term na regional.

Do some research, Adelaide is the fifth most liveable city in the world last year, it is a small city but open in accepting migrants.

@Au_Vic yes po im still gathering kasi yung COE nila dito sa UAE super straightforward lang walang details katulad ng nasa template ng vetassess na may atleast 5 points ng JD... im considering the express assessment nga kasi ang bilis compared to the standard one...kaso yun nga may additional na 660 AUD++ ata...

Actually, that's the exact point na pinaintindi ng tito ko... na since you have the experience required naman and capacity to do it on your own (with proper research) shempre...then might as well do it...kasi ang ggwin ng agent is to merely tell you what you should do...and ask you the requirements... plus, you'll save a huge amount of money nga without going for an agent...

Plus, not to brag or whatsover (more of pinapalakas ko lang loob ko ) hahaha!, I do have a good idea in applying visas (US and Schengen in particular) part kasi yun ng work ko ( for my managers and other co workers)...I know its not exactly the same but somehow...naintidihan ko how strict they can get sa assessment and documentation...not to mention yung pabago bagong requirement...

Speaking of rules, usually tuwing kelan nagiissue ng new rules ang DIBP? Like itong MLTSSL at STSOL nitong July lang to naimplement or talagang from time to time nagbabago?

Thank you very much ha...naappreciate ko talaga tong forum na to.. :D

@cookieblend i-ensure mo lang na ung job description sa COE na ipapasa mo sa vetassess is same with anzsco just to be safe.

there is no set frequency by when immigration will change the rules. July is the start of financial year in Australia and also every July, immigration refreshes their quota, plans for migration, and variation in rules, etc. but the past months and years, rules are changing more often than usual which makes it more strict and harder to migrate here.

Usually, immigration will announce changes but will give ample time for its effectivity date but the change last April 2017 (re: MLTSSL and STSOL) was all of a sudden, announced by immigration and effective immediately - which caused issues not just with applicants but also with most of the states regarding their state sponsorship and assessing bodies coz they have to align their list to immigration.

As part of that change in April, they axed 100 or 200+ occupations (I think) from the list and significantly revamp the 457 work visa rules.

At the end of the day, australian immigration may change the rules whenever they want. That's why I kept on mentioning to this forum that time is of the essence, be quick before the opportunity is gone. Many people including me have seen the changes re: visa rules and processes over a decade and its getting tougher and tougher to come here. So my suggestion to you, act fast before it's too late.

@cookieblend sa COE po, ang ginawa ko ako na ang gumawa sunod sa pattern vetasses then have it reviewed by the HR of the company kung san ako nag trabaho, then requested them to sign and stamped and printed using their company letterhead. Bawas na sa trabaho nila and most them naman are willing to help.

@Au_Vic well said and agree to your points. Deciding to use an agent is like deciding whether to use an accountant to file your tax, you can use one or not. One thing I just need to clarify about agents submitting docs on clients' behalf that was not highlighted is the fact that they check the documents beforehand. They just don't submit them. I have infinite stories where my office has spotted minor human error on the formatting of documents which could have lead to issues if it would have been submitted. Stories also about people coming to us due to negative skills assessment outcome and when they show us the documents they have submitted kita na namin straight yung problem, usually Hindi nila tinugma yung occupation tasks nila with the actual tasks as per Australian standards so we have to fix the error...this is where it becomes even more costly for them (time and money). That's the peace of mind one can have with an agent which comes with a cost if you're ready to spend the money. I'm not saying this because I'm an agent myself. I'm basing this from my personal experience. I've done DIY visas during my time. I went initially to Australia on a student visa as well as tourist visa, very straight forward ang application pero nung PR visa na apply ko, naguluhan na talaga ako and got scared to mess things up. So na-value ko talaga yung assistance ng agent. Luckily nakahanap ako at that time ng super mura sa Sydney, $1,000 lang! Also, not known to most, some agents also offer review Lang ng documents before submission, it's just finding the right one and asking the agent about such service. If one goes to the www.mara.gov.au one can find the usual fees charged for various services as well as may search agent function din. Skills assessment is the most crucial stage of the process. It's the make or break kind of thing kaya attention to detail is a must.

Nagbigay naman yung company ko ng documents to support my application and today tinawagan na yung HR namin to confirm the offer of employment.

@jen.farne 190 is so much quicker once you get the state sponsorship, you get the invite simultaneously.
