I'm doomed then. Now, I'm a little discouraged to proceed with my application. Deducting 6 years of work experience just because I am not an IT grad is quite disappointing, specially since, in my opinion, my degree (mathematics) is quite very relevant (if not, fundamental) in any IT-related field.

I have several Microsoft and Salesforce certifications as well. Do you think these will be enough for me to bypass the RPL route?

@RheaMARN1171933 Hi, what do you think will be the assessment for a completed 30-academic units of masters degree plus 6 units of undergrad subjects relavant to nominated occupation (on-going thesis) from a section 2 school and a Philippine bachelors degree previously assessed only as equivalent to AQF Diploma? thanks

There are no age changes for applicants for the Temporary Residence Transition (TRT) stream of the
subclass 186 and subclass 187 visas. Applicants must not have turned 50 years at the time of application for
this stream.
From March 2018, applicants for the TRT stream of the subclass 186 and subclass 187 visas must not have
turned 45 at the time of application for this stream, unless the applicant held or had applied for a subclass

@BrizyFilo You are right about being positive and not to be discouraged. However, I'd be careful with the rest of your advice as it may mislead someone. I had to study a postgraduate course in Australian Immigration Law and Practice to be qualified to provide advice. I'm not sure whether the information I provided earlier which was sourced from the Australian immigration law professional library which all solicitors and registered migration agents are required to maintain whilst in immigration advice practice can be classified as "sabi-sabi".

@BrizyFilo the reference of universities, FYI, comes from the Country Education Profile which is maintained by the Ministry of Education. ALL ASSESSING AUTHORITIES base their decision on this list. I think all will agree that we need to be responsible when posting comments on this forum as anything we post may negatively affect someone's application.

Actually tama naman yung mga sinabi mo especially ito -> "it won't be an issue if you've got no IT degree. They will just have to deduct 6 years from your experience." Pero hindi ito consistent minsan 3, 4 or 5 years ang binbawas nila. Depende sa agent na mag aassess sayo. Ang hindi ko lang magets dito yung about sa section ng mga schools. Wala namang reference yan.

@RheaMARN1171933 Could you pls. provide a reference link about sa sectioning ng schools (yung hindi link dito sa forum). As far as I know, walang bearing yang sectioning na yan for ACS assessment. Pls give me a link from reliable source na ginagamit ng ACS na basis ang sectioning ng Uni and Sch sa Pinas.

But you need subscription to fully access it. Check my screenshot attached kung pano nila ina-assess ang isang Section 2 school.

With regards sa assessment naman ni ACS, may guidelines din sila how comparable yung degree mo sa nominated occupation mo. Like if bachelors degree ka, but not closely related sa occation, you will need to demonstrate 4 years of EXP. lahat po yan nasa ACS guidelines.

Example sa case ko. From section 3 school, based on CEP, AQF Advance diploma lang ako, basta 5 years full time and 200+ units. Pero if you have passed the exam for PRC, I will be assessed as Bachelors.

So si ACS, since AQF Advance diploma lang initial assessment sakin, I need at least 5 years of exp to be suitable. But I requested an Appeal with them, and demonstrate my case and show the evidence of my PRC, then later naging Bachelors Degree na lang ako, and need ng 2 years exp.

I have tried to login using the link you have provided, pero may bayad pala para makita ang CEP for asia pacific countries. Anyway, again wala paring reference link na ginagamit nga ng ACS yang CEP na yan for education assessment. So until now palaisipan sa akin if totoo nga na may bearing ang CEP-Sectioning ng school sa result ng ACS.

@BrizyFilo we are actually giving you the answer to your question. It's really up to you if you'll heed the advice as this will come in handy once you've experienced the process of applying for skills assessment at some point. My professional advice is, rather than refuting those who were kind enough to help out in the forum, I would rather concentrate on how you would be able to successfully obtain a permanent visa. Im sure you are aware that being on a 457 visa isn't an assurance of one's status in Australia. I can only assume this is the reason why you are on this forum yourself. All the best.

@BrizyFilo In as much as I want to take the 186 route since it is the easiest path for me, unfortunately, I have just been told by my employer that they are not sponsoring permanent resident visa. Hence, I don't really have a choice but to take the 189 route.

Anyhow, I have started gathering my documents -- requested several COE's from my previous companies. I have also booked my PTE exam for February and started browsing through review materials. Hopefully I could get a superior score to obtain maximum points.

I know this is going to be a bit tough for me given my circumstances, but I'm keeping my hopes high.

@BrizyFilo this is not dependent on the assessing officer. Everything is dependent of the applicant meeting the requirements. Otherwise everything is a joke then. Try to access the Australian Migration Regulation 1994 if you can. This contains the entire legislation about Australian immigration. Somewhere in those pages it will inform you that all assessing authorities are required by law to use the CEP as basis for assessing an applicant's qualification. Unfortunately, I cannot send you a link as the professional library I use is on subscription basis.

It would be interesting to know where the info you provided is coming from, is there also a link to it perhaps?

Like I mentioned let's all be responsible in posting comments. This forum is to help fellow Filipinos from making any mistakes in the application process.

Anyway, I did notice you edited the "sabi-sabi" you commented about. Thank you for being mindful.

Magandang araw po sa lahat. Ako po ay bago dito sa grupo at pasensya na po kung marami akong katanungan. Dito ko po uumpisahan dahil ako po ay isang IT professional 33 yrs old working from 2005 as IT Helpdesk, Systems Engineer, IT Project Implementation Lead (mostly handling physical and virtual servers) at balak ko pong mag-apply ng visa 189 or 190. Hingi po sana ako ng tulong kung papano ang at san ako maguumpisa. Nabasa ko na kelangan magpa-assess sa ACS para aking skillset. Aware din po ako na kelangan ang mga COE's sa previous companies, Transcript of Record, Diploma, NSO birth certificate.

1. COE - Nabigyan na po ako ng COE galing sa dati kong employer. Generic COE po sya na nakalagay na pwede kung saan sya balak gamitin. Kelangan po ba specified ang roles and responsibilities?
2. TOR - kelangan po ba notarized ito?
3. IELTs or PTE?
4. Birth Certificate - kelangan po ba notarized ito?

Baka po meron sa inyo recently nakapag-apply ng visa, maari nyo po ba akong matulungan? Correct me if I'm wrong. Tama po ba bago makapag-apply ng visa dapat:

1. Passed ang assessment ng ACS
2. Passed and IELTs or PTE
3. Submitted and approved and EOI
4. Lastly, lodge the application online.

@twickn29zero steps needed to apply for visa.

1. alamin mo yung mga types ng visas 189,190,489(regional or relative sponsor)
2. check if aabot yung points mo by 60(but most likely pag minimum lang nakuha mong points malabo kang ma invite for ICT, should be al least 70 above)
-points are based on age,educational attainment, experience, english exam result, State sponsorship(if you will apply for 190/489)
3. alamin mo yung occupation kung saan swak ang work experience mo.
4. check mo yung occupation na swak sayo if eligible sya for visa 189/190/489
5. apply for assessment sa ACS
-Need mo ng Diploma/transcript of records/birth cert/COE's with job description
-all documents must be CTC before uploading sa ACS
6.take IELTS or PTE (you can do this while applying ACS)
7.if all goes well at napasa mo na yung IELTS/PTE at positive ang ACS mo then you can proceed sa EOI submission.
8. if na invite na yung EOI mo then proceed for visa lodging

1. regarding sa type of visa, I am leaning towards 189 and 190. if im not mistaken, 190 is state sponsored, tama po ba? 189? 489?
2. age 33, college graduate (BSIT) total of 12yrs in IT industry from IT Helpdesk (3yrs and 9mos) to Systems Engineer (8yrs). (IELTS/PTE) to follow pa.
3. aside from IT helpdesk/support and systems engineer, can you please enlighten me?
4. pano ko po malalaman?
5. sa ACS assessment, nagrequest na ako ng COE ko sa previous employer ko, nabigyan ako pero wala pong job description. ano po kaya pwedeng gawin? ano po ibig sabihin ng CTC?
6. now i understand that IELTS/PTE is not required for ACS assessment. pero ano po ba ang kelangan kong itake? IELTS or PTE? ano po difference?
7. medyo klaro na saken na ACS and english test result is required for submission of EOI.
8. EOI is the gateway for visa submission.

sa experience nyo sir, around how much po ang budget for ACS assessment, english exam, EOI, visa application?
