@max: yep. 60 points. I assume that I'll get 7.0 in IELTS. That is 10 points. 5 points for 1 year local exp. 15 points for EA. 30 points for age.

other options: a. get IELTS 8.0 = +20
b. NAATI = +5
c. mag asawa ng Skilled din (assessed na din xempre) = +5

so invest na lang ng effort and time to get IELTS 8.0

@fritz: add buffer to airfare. Say, 25k. hehe

i have not read any one here who claimed for NAATI - 5 points...
if you are already in AU.. mas mabilis pa sguro mag-claim ng state sponsorship which is also 5 pts..

Nakapagtake na kasi ako, inisip ko, pwede ko rin kasi siya magamit for scholarship applications 'pag nag-Masters abroad. Pano yun, okay lang kaya? Sabi nila "AT LEAST General Training" sa Immigration website. Is it right na mas mahirap daw yung Academic? Macocover din kaya yung General Training if Academic kinuha ko? Thanks!

pareho lang ang Listening and Speaking..
pero iba ang Reading and Writing ng Academic, at sabi nga mas mahirap ang academic..

@dglsp With regards to the visa 476, I am not entirely sure if you can take the IELTS Academic instead of the IELTS General training. This was my dilemma a few months back. Strictly speaking, dapat general training for migration purposes.

If your scored lower than 7 in any of the academic module, I suggest you take the general training.

@Captain_A Hindi pa nakakapag lodge. Sa schedule ko end of december until early january. pero nakapag fillup na ko ng online application sa immi, payment na lang tapos upload docs. ikaw kamusta application? yung de factor mukhang ok naman, may supporting documents naman. yung mga statutory declarations na lang and we're good to go.

@LokiJr Mga extra expenses before and during the application process (i.e. pamasahe, pambayad sa mga documents like translation ng diploma, pambili ng suhol para gumawa ng statutory declaration yung mga kailangang gumawa)

Take note din na pre-departure expenses pa lang yun. Estimate ka din ng post-departure. In my case, I assumed na 3 months akong walang trabaho at walang makuhang sideline.

Tama si lock_code2004, sobrang mura nung visa 476 at ang dali pang maprocess.

Hi guys. Im back with a question. I'm still halfhearted about applying for 476 but the opportunity is wide open before me so I am trying to convince myself to go for it. Nagdadalawang isip lang ako kasi I am not sure if I am skilled enough to find a job once I get in Australia and qualify for PR. So may I ask what skills should I have at least? Para pag-aralan ko na ngayon pa lang. Hehe. Sorry for being pessimistic but is it possible to stay unemployed for more than 5 months in Australia? And how is it going to affect your qualification for PR?

1) Regarding your skills, can you specify kung anung engineering degree mo? or you may check online job sites (seek.com) and see kung may mga relevant job openings ba for your qualification..

2)Is it possible to stay unemployed for >5 months in AU? - the answer depends on your situation, kung may kamag-anak ka na matitirhan at susuporta, pwdeng pwede, kung wala, of course kailangan mo ng pera.. some or most will accept odd jobs just to support their daily expenses..

3)There are several pathways to PR (if your holding a 476 visa), either sponsor ka ng company, apply independently or with state/relative sponsorship, provided you satisfy the skillselect pass points and/or other criteria if required..

so kung sa tingin mo hindi ka pa ready, might as well check ung option na direct PR visa..
wait for few more months/years to get more work experience, pag okay na ang points mo for skillselect.. pwede kana apply for skilled migrant PR visa..

ang disadvantage lang, hindi natin alam kung kelan at anu ang magiging change ng migration laws nila every year..

1) The skills that you need to have depend on the field of electrical engineering and industry you are engaged or want to engage in.

Power system engineers generally have a good market, particularly those in protection and control, automation (SCADA), substation and line engineering.

Design consultancy also have a good market, but make sure you're working for a reputable company with international, if not Australian standards. If you are an EE in the oil and gas, mining, or renewable energy related field, chances are good as well.

2) @lock_code2004 answered this. If you are concerned about being deported because of being a bum for 5 months, I don't think it happens. Unless of course, wala ka na ngang pera. hehe.

3) You need 1 year local (Australian) experience to claim 5 points for PR visa application. Kung unemployed ka for 5 months, meron ka pang 1year and 3 months to gain local experience.

Naku po.. this is a complete braindrain para sa UP...

1. Dun sa NAATI.. ang hirap nun.. I tried it out nung 2003 pero it didnt worked student visa ako noon dito. Sa inis ko umuwi na lang ako sa pinas.. after i acquired the working experience.. bumalik ako ng PR on 2009.

2. Kung may tanong kayo sa software development job roles.. do not hesitate to ask. Yakang yaka nyo yan since mas mahirap pa ang ES 12,13 kesa sa work nyo!

3. In terms of work, para sa mga CE.. WA at QLD ang bagsak nyo... ok naman ang Perth mas relax kesa buhay melb/syd. Para sa mga ECE/COE at sasabak sa IT industry.. melb/syd ang choices.

Goodluck sa mga iskolar ng bayan sa pagpunta nyo rito. Kung mayroon visa na ganito nung time ko.. i would have grab it as well. Kung kailangan nyo ng char ref at software dev ang field nyo.. PM nyo lang ako... ito na lang siguro matulong ko.

believe it or not.. i recommended this visa to some of my friends/friends of friends from UP.. pero tatlo na ang hindi interesado.. mahal pa rin ang bayang sinilangan..

Sabihin mo sa kanila...kung di nila balak magmigrate, for experience na lang habol nila sa visa...malaki ibabango ng resume nila kung may ganun silang training sa Australia hehe

Another way to get additional 5 points for PR application is the Professional Year in Engineering:
- this is for AU university engineering graduates
- and 476 holders (overseas engineering graduates)

What is a Professional Year (PYear)?
A Professional Year is a twelve-month 'job-preparedness' program aimed to equip participants with the professional and communications skills needed for a successful career in the Australian workforce whilst also helping to address Australia's engineering skills shortage.

Yun nga lang may fee.. pero i think sulit naman ito especially kung wla ka pang work experience at kung kulang ka pa sa points:

A new fee structure now applies for all Professional Year applications.
Option One - Full Payment on Application ($12,950.00)
Option Two - 3 installments ($13,500.00)
