If you intend to work as a nurse, have your credentials assessed by a university... you may be able to qualify in a nursing conversion course.

@cucci there is one agency in Brisbane who have sent me a proposal for a package course. Certificate III - Individual support and Diploma of Community Service. Do you think by taking these courses it would help me in the future if I will apply for PR?

@cucci and one more question, how big is the chance for an int'l student to apply and get a PR? I am hesitant to take this path kasi baka in the future walang mangyari. I will just waste my time and money :(

It would seem that you intend to work in the health industry rather than in your current experience with the hospitality industry? Sa tingin ko mas malaki ang chances mo with a nursing conversion course rather than with Cert III. If I am not mistaken, Cert III is an 18 month course with TAFE (no idea with the school who offerered you that).

Nursing conversion, can be for 1-2 years depending on the uni's assessment of your credentials. After finishing the conversion course, you are deemed a graduate of a nursing (BSN) from an Australian
institution thus "automatically" qualified for AHPRA registration, with the caveat of course that the school's program is approved by AHPRA/NMBA.

The chances of being offered a PR sponsorship (190), 491 if the area you intend to work in is considered "regional", 482 to 186 if via the employer-sponsored pathway, would also be greater with a nursing degree and AHPRA registration.

@cucci Hospitality Industry kasi parang mahirap makakuha ng work after ko magstudy. Not unless managerial position ung work experience ko. So now, dunno pano ako magstart :#

Sorry I cannot really make comment regarding hospitality industry, pero to some extent you are correct na medyo mahihirapan ka sa assessment part, at eventually may have problems with the point system for skilled migration.

Since you have the basic BSN, the nursing conversion course pathway would be the best option. You won't qualify with AHPRA's OBA because as you mentioned, you do not have experience and more so the registration from PRC.

I would suggest that you ask your agent or the school which offered you those cert courses if they have or can offer the nursing conversion course instead.

You can stay as long as your student visa is valid, after which you may have to exit... I don't think you can apply for a visitor visa while on-shore.

As to the other visa options for skilled migrants, there may not be enough time from finishing the course and application, but a lot depends on your circumstances.

Yes po, after conversion course is AHPRA registration. After registration, you will need to be assessed by ANMAC if you intend to use the skilled-migration pathway to Au PR.

No idea about the payment scheme of SCU pero sa ibang school, may certain amount na babayaran upon acceptance of the offer to secure the slot, tapos full payment bago mag start ang program. Check the documents sent to you by the school... the details should be indicated there.

Hi guys, sino nka try mag extend dito ng student visa dahil di natapos yung COE date???

    Eto nangyayari sakin ngayon.

Hayst!!!! Anyone na nka try jan mag extend?

    Thanks

Hi, I would like to ask some insights...

I am under student Visa and had a job offer as RN during my placement sa bridging course. I passed the interview but they cannot sponsor pa daw. So they accepted my student visa. However, it has been a month since the process started. nagfofollow up ako sa hiring manager/unit manager every week. She always tells me that it's progressing and just waiting for some paper works to be done.

    thank you.

    https://www.nursingmidwiferyboard.gov.au/News/2019-02-05-bridging-programs-for-internationally-qualified-nurses.aspx

    05 Feb 2019

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) today provided an update on bridging programs for internationally qualified nurses.

The NMBA is aware that some internationally qualified nurses who have applied for registration in Australia and been referred to bridging programs are unable to find places in accredited programs. The role of the NMBA is to protect the public in accordance with the National Law, by ensuring that only suitably qualified and competent people are registered to practise. This is a matter of public safety.

The NMBA approves accreditation standards and accredited courses of study leading to registration as a nurse or a midwife.

The Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) is the independent accrediting authority for nursing and midwifery education. ANMAC is responsible for determining whether programs of study for nurses and midwives seeking to practise in Australia meet the required accreditation standards.

The NMBA and ANMAC have a responsibility to ensure that all programs of study meet standards which contribute to safe and quality nursing practice in Australia.

Bridging programs are offered by independent education providers, who must demonstrate that they meet the required standards of the NMBA. The NMBA and ANMAC do not determine the number of places available in bridging programs, this is determined by the education providers who are able to meet the standards.

Any applicant who has been referred to bridging and is unable to find a program place within the timeframe set out in their referral letter should contact the Registration Officer provided on their referral letter, to discuss their individual circumstances.

More information for internationally qualified nurses can be found on the NMBA website.

    Hello,

I have a question regarding the 5 year recency of practice. Oct 2014 yung last practice ko as a nurse then nagapply ako sa AHPRA and they have given me a LOE last Dec 2018 which is sa time na yun pasok pa ko sa requirement. Unfortunately, nahirapan din ako makahanap ng school for bridging pero now may offer na ko ng BP on April 2020. Question po, after ba ng 3 mos kong BP and by the time na magapply na ko for AHPRA registration, iapprove kaya nila ko kaya lagpas na sa 5 years yung gap ko.

    Please enlighten me guys.

    TIA

@kishy Sadly, lampas na po sa required "within the past 5 year period" ang experience by that time. Why not get a job between now and the start of your BP. 450 hours is just about 3 months at full time.

@kishy You may also need to verify with AHPRA regarding the validity of your LOE.

Please note: In order to be eligible for registration as a registered nurse in Australia, you are required to successfully complete a NMBA-approved bridging program by 18 April 2018, which is twelve (12) months from the date of this letter.

This was taken from my LOE at may nakalagay na 12 month validity period. Afaik, nag-i-issue naman ng extension ang AHPRA.

Hi guys, sino nka try mag extend dito ng student visa dahil di natapos yung COE date???

    Eto nangyayari sakin ngayon.

Hayst!!!! Anyone na nka try jan mag extend?

    Thanks

Send them an email indicating yung exclusive dates ng bridging program mo and ask for an extension. It worked for me. Asked them initially, then when my school sent me a letter with exclusive dates na hindi tugma sa extension an binigay, I sent my CO another email na I need another extension with a letter attached from the school where I will have my bridging program.

Hello po. Just asking for those who will pursue OBA, yung PTE na ipapasa for registration e yun na po ba magagamit for PR na din? or pwedeng mag exam ulit to get higher points if not superior yung initial PTE? Salamat po sa sasagot.
