Hi mga kabayan! Hingi lang sana ako ng tips for PTE dahil exam ko na next week.

These are my two attempts in PTE mock exam. Sadly, Hindi umaabot ng 75 and above. It’s just weird because nung first attempt ko for PTE, umabot naman sa Proficient level last December 2018 (83/80/73/73).

From PTE Mock Test A (Overall: 64)

From PTE Mock Test B (Overall: 68)

Ang preparation na ginagawa ko ay nagpapractice ako ng mock exams from Apeuni and PTE.

I am using a MacBook Pro with JBL Quantum 100 wired gaming headset and Google Chrome for the browser.

Ang strategies na ginagamit ko for each band:

Speaking
RA - higher pitch while reading
RS - Praying to have less and easy sentences, trying to maintain oral fluency and pronunciation
DI - Jimmyssem
RL - Jimmyssem
ASQ - repeating the answer 3 times

Writing
SWT - Random template from a successful exam taker in fb group
WE - Jimmyssem easier version

Reading
MC:CSA - None
MC:CMA - None
RP - Jimmyssem
R:FIB - Trying to understand the paragraph and if the selected word sounds fine
RW:FIB - Trying to understand the paragraph and if the selected word sounds fine

Listening
SST - Random template from a successful exam taker in fb group
MC:CMA - None
L:FIB - 100% concentration, typing the word fast even if wrong spelled, going back to it afterwards
HCS - None
MC:CSA - None
SMW - None
HIW - 100% concentration, following the recorded speech with the cursor word per word
WFD - remembering all important words, adding their singular/plural/past tense/etc and entering all articles

My other questions:
1. Are the scores in the mock exam really lower than the actual test?
2. And are there tips for reading? I find this one to be the hardest of them all.

May explanation si Jimmysem and E2 language on how scoring works for each section. Hindi ko lang maalala exactly lahat how. Like Repeat Sentence contributes to Listening and Speaking if I remember correctly. Have you tested if your mic records properly din? Do you stutter or hindi naman? No pausing for beyond 3 seconds? Speaking only when the mind starts recording? May parts na hindi pa nag-sstart yung recording agad, like may 1 second pause, baka nagsalita ka kaagad so the mic failed to capture what you said.

Are the scores in the mock exam really lower than the actual test?

Parang hindi rin. I scored higher in my mock test than the actual test pagdating sa speaking. I wonder tuloy kung dahil yun sa mask and/or face shield. The rest are decent scores naman for my mock test.

And are there tips for reading? I find this one to be the hardest of them all.

For Reading, remember na right-minus-wrong sa multiple choice - multiple answers. If you chose one correct answer, pero mali yung other answer, you'll end up with zero point for that question.

Reorder paragraph - you get scored for having two paragraphs na tama yung pagkakasunod.

Fill in the blanks - medjo challenging to minsan. The word should make sense first before sounding fine in my opinion.

Bali familiar naman ako sa scoring system ng PTE, na dapat maging seryoso ako sa RA, RS, RW:FIB at WFD dahil sila yung segments na mataas magbigay ng score. Pati rin yung scoring system na may affected band and not just focusing on one, like in WFD na hindi lang Listening yung nabibigyan ng score, pati yung Writing.

Siguro doon lang sa Speaking, feeling ko may prob ako doon, hindi ako nag-stutter, siguro once I heard the beep sound, I automatically speak. I will wait for 1 second then during my practice before speaking.

Medyo nakaka-discourage lang kasi makita yung scores sa mock exams tho meron pa naman akong 2 pang natitira to test and improve. Practicin ko na lang talaga yung reading sa apeuni at sana gumaling. Hopefully it goes well. Thank you po sa tips!

Hi guys, may tips ba kayo on Describe Image (DI)? Currently nagpa-practice ako sa ApeUni pero usaully around 40+ lang nakukuha ko out of 90. Mababa lagi ako sa pronunciation and fluency pero mataas sa content. Any tips? Thank you!

Also, halos magkatulad ba yung DI sa ApeUni and actual PTE Exam?

Ang gamit kong template ay yung kay Jay of E2 Language.

I recommend Jimmysem's tips for Describe Image and Retell Lecture on Youtube. That's what I used when I took the exam last Friday. Got 80 pts for speaking.

I recommend Jimmysem's tips for Describe Image and Retell Lecture on Youtube. That's what I used when I took the exam last Friday. Got 80 pts for speaking.

I didn't use a template for those. What I did was I took notes of the keywords mentioned, chose which ones to highlight as the main idea + supporting ideas.

Hi guys. Add'l question lang. I have purchased ApeUni VIP at may mock test available na din dun. Would you advise to still purchase the PTE Gold Kit, or the ApeUni mock test already suffice?

Mahal din kasi yung PTE Gold Kit, baka makatipid din ako.

PS: Sa nagtatanong, this October pa po ako mag-eexam. Di ako nakakuha ng slot for September.

Personally, I prefer PTE official mock test. Hindi accurate ang speaking algo scoring ng apeuni so most probably mababa yung score mo. Oks sya pang pang practice pero kung gusto mo talaga ma gauge yung score mo mas maganda gamitin yung official pte mock test especially kung superior inaiim mo Ginawa ko lang pang practice yung apeuni tapos nag take pa din ako ng official mock test.

sa ApeUni, maaasahan mo un grading sa lahat except sa speaking. pero useful for practice. ikaw na lang mag gauge kung satisfied ka sa performance mo pero hindi reliable talaga un grading sa mga speaking exercises especially sa read aloud.

It gives you confidence pag halos na memorize mo na paulit ulit ung mga sample sa APEUNI.

I just finished my exam and got the results as follow:
L: 76
R: 75
S: 84
W: 71

Personal experience
-Strict sa loob ng testing center. No phones and other gadgets allowed even jewelry. They will inspect and ask you to place your stuff inside the locker provided.
-Face mask and face shield are required during test. Yes required sila both. So ipasok nalang yung mic sa loob ng face shield and lakasan yung boses.
-Maririnig mo yung ibang test takers, so need to focus. One seat apart lang.

Test Questions
-Mga 1-2 questions lang from mock test ng PTETutorials yung lumabas.

Templates
-mostly I followed the guides from e2 language (Jay).
-I tried Jimmyssem's template on Essay Writing, mukhang di nagwork. Doon ako lowest eh.

Will be taking another for superior!

Mainly yes, plus dapat manuod ka rin sa youtube ng mga tips and tricks . sakin sinimulan ko kay E2Language ni Jay, then Sonny English and ung Indian na teacher. magaling ung mga Technique niya sa Describe image. tapos APEUni reviewer ko. subscribe ka 1 month lang muna para magamit mo ung prediction nila. may prefiction faeture sila kung anu lalabas sa week. then un ang gamitin mo na set of reviewer pam practice.
