Hello po! Sa mga nakapag-big move, or magbi-big move, magkano po ang baon niyo? Single lang ako if magmo-move. Asking lang kasi na-invite ako kaagad (a happy surprise) and gusto ko sana mag-budget na para handa. Hehe.
May mga nakita po akong calculation to help you determine yung costs, kaso naga-adjust pa rin ako sa denomination at pagtantsa ng presyo compared to PHP. Hoping may makapag-share!

Be careful lang and exercise due diligence. Mas mahal siyempre ng konti kaysa inoffersa fb, pero legal and merong paperwork and protected pa both parties. Any transaction ng walang in writing delikado.

Mas okay yung AU paper work docs.

Kaya lahat ng papers, nakaorganise and nakatago. Extra cautious.

Hello, ano na kayang set up ng interviews ngayon sa Au relating to work applications? Face to face na ba or open na din sila to conduct it virtually? May nabasa kasi ako dito before about sa applying for work bago mag big move while offshore pa na nakikigamit ng Australian address ng kakilala and Australian Skype number to somehow increase the chances of being noticed since mas preferred nga ng employers ang onshore na. Magwowork pa din kaya itong ganitong approach at present?

I think nowadays it depends on the situation. I believe mostly back to the office na sa Australia, but with hybrid/WFH flexibility. Ideally you would be onshore already in case they want to meet you face to face but if offshore ka pa, you can probably request for virtual/online interview. Some employers look into hiring people that can start working in 2-4 weeks (or ASAP if the business requires it), so if your BM is not within that timeframe, sort out the move first before applying for work (or send applications closer to the BM date, then schedule interviews after you arrive).
If you're a new migrant, you need to sort out your housing, opening bank account, getting AU mobile number and TFN, and that can take some time too. Ideally you would have those info on hand when you get hired, so the company's HR team can sort out the paperwork and payroll before you start working.

Yes po napapansin naman. Meron po akong 2 companies na inapplyan and they're just waiting for my grant to proceed with my application.
Sa LinkedIn lang po ako nagaapply and nilagay ko lang po na di ko need ng sponsorship and waiting for my grant. Yung ibang companies naman po may entities dito sa PH kaya ginagawa po nila is PH based(PH Rate) po muna then once granted ng visa doon po magrelocate sa AU with AU rate bale two contacts po sa job offer.

Kaka BM lang namin so I'm afraid I can't be of help. But i would say the more na savings much better para makapag settle kayu dito. Depending on the city na magstay kayu, if need ng car then u would have to buy kahit ung mga second hand. It actually depends sa inyo.

Rental payment methods depend on the owner/agent. I doubt homeowners will accept credit cards, since payments via cards require eftpos machines or arrange for direct-debit (which attracts extra cost for setting up systems, probably not worth the cost for homeowners).
My place in Sydney was cash only, while in Brisbane I pay through bank transfer (using BSB and Account Number of housing agent). Australia is mainly a cashless society, so paying via direct bank transfer or PayID is the easiest and most convenient.
I'm not sure how expensive sim cards are at the airport. If you don't intend to call or text someone with your sim card, I suggest you wait until you get to the city, then just purchase a starter sim at the grocery (Coles, Woolies, Aldi) as they are relatively cheap.

Once you arrive, stop converting living costs from AUD to PHP, masstress ka lang dahil mahal talaga dito. It will be confusing at first, how things are crazy expensive here and you have no idea what counts as cheap or expensive. When I first arrived in Sydney, I thought AUD 25-30 was "not bad" for a meal, but turns out it was very expensive! You can find really good food for AUD 15-20, which I now count as average meal cost. Anything above AUD 25 is a splurge for me.
How much to bring will depend on which city you're going to. If you're a single person moving to capital cities (Syd, Melb, Brissy), try to budget at least AUD 4000 for relocation costs (rental bond, transport cards, kitchenware/homewares, toiletries/home essentials, etc), then AUD 2000 per month for the first few months (to cover rent, groceries, transpo). After a few months, you can adjust your budget because you'll have a better idea on which places have cheaper stuff. I was eating out a lot for the first few weeks because I didn't know how to get to the asian groceries, and it took time for me to get used to traveling around the city to do shopping.
If you don't have a job offer prior to arrival, I'd recommend having at least 3-6 months' worth of living expenses ready in your savings, plus that relocation cost I mentioned.

Wag magconvert hehe.
Example:
3.99 audollar per kg of fresh chicken wings compared sa 2 audollar per piece of fried chicken wings.
So basically, you do the cooking, you can save a lot.
So the more na marami kang alam na skills na di mo ipapagawa sa ibang tao. Makakatipid ka dito.

Same @jcrdream! Haha. Quite an adjustment gaining an understanding of the denomination. Sa atin kasi, 100 (as currency value) is a small unit, but in AU, it's pricey na from what I hear.
Thank you for the tips and insights, @athelene. I actually had the same question. At least may benchmark na ng what's cheap at what's not from a Pinoy's POV hehe

I haven't lived in Manila for years, so I have no idea on what counts as cheap or expensive there. Prior to moving to Australia I was in Taipei, where food was so cheap. You can get a really good bowl of noodles or rice topping for NTD 50-75. Pagdating sa Australia, everything was like 10x more expensive, and I didn't know which places were good value for money
As @tigerlance said, anything that requires labor will cost a lot of money, because the minimum wage in Australia is one of the highest in the world. There is also the concept of award rates in Australia, wherein the minimum wage also differs depending on which industry you work in. The national minimum wage in Australia is AUD 21.38 per hour, but if you work in retail the minimum wage that would apply could be AUD 23.38 (pre-tax). So any services or product that requires labor will have to factor in the cost of a worker's salary, and they essentially end up passing on the cost to consumers. Yes, cost of living is expensive in Australia, but the pay is somehow proportional, and you can still earn a decent wage even at the minimum wage. Of course, how far your money lasts depends on your budgeting skills and your lifestyle.
When carrying cash, I think people usually carry AUD 5, 10, 20, and 50 bank notes (rare ko makita ang AUD 100 bill). At first you'll want to familiarize yourself with the Aussie bank notes and coins, but eventually you might want to join the cashless society. Personally, I prefer paying via debit card when shopping/eating out, because I can track all my expenses (which is harder to do with cash), and because the coins are quite heavy (lalo na yung 50-cent coin). Banking apps are super useful, and can definitely help you with budgeting (I love Westpac's app that you can set numerous savings goals).

Depende po sa inyo. 😊 Take note to also leave something for yourself din. When I was a student, nagpapadala ako sa Pinas depende sa kita ko. Now, I'm working full time, tinaasan ko yong padala ko given na covid times wala work fam ko sa Pinas. Ako mismo, wala pa din akong ipon. Hahahaha. Halos naubos sa pagpapadala. Save lang during tax return. Hahahaha. Pero worth it naman as long as happy yong family. Pag mataas sweldo, may ipon plus padala sa Pinas 😅

Need to factor in ang parking fee kasi malula ka sa parking fees dito sa AU hehe. Mas maganda magpark tuwing weekends kasi may mga free kasi ineencourage nila ang family for leisure.
Syempre kung may anak ka, you need to factor in yung daycare. Hindi no pwedeng iwanan ang anak mo sa bahay 12 years old pababa na magisa na walang kasama. or below 12 years old lahat sa bahay kung both kayo magwowork.

I would just like to confirm kung totoo po ba na hindi daw uso magbigay ng tip sa Australia para sa mga services like sa salon, barber shop and the like? Is it somewhat offensive ba sa culture nila or it depends pa din naman?
