Hello! okay lang ba na maghanap ng work offshore (remote) sa AU while waiting sa grant? currently working for australian company kaso NSW , VIC kasi kami nanominate.. and under sa agency dito sa pinas yung contract sa NSW. Trying my luck to look for a job in Melbourne (hybrid or remote), para pag na-grant na may work agad dun.. Any violations sa visa condition? Thank you!

You mean look for a remote Australia-based work while you're in the Philippines? That itself, as far as I know, wouldn't violate your visa. I did the same thing while waiting for my visa grant but couldn't proceed nga lang with any of the opportunities due to my pending visa (at the time). It can be hard to find a job that accepts offshore applicants without a visa on hand already but doesn't hurt to try.

Oh, that's insightful. However, my situation is quite different. My current employer here in PH is actually a global company based in Miami. Although I am technically Manila-hired, I report to those in Miami and work remotely full time. I was wondering about 2 scenarios:

    1. If I can continue working for the role in Australia and be paid in my PH payroll while I look for a local job in Victoria.
    2. If they can hire me and be an AU employee considering that their Australian HQ is in Sydney and that my visa is a nomination from Victoria.

In both cases, I will still be working remotely and reporting to Miami while living in VIC. I know both of these require the company's approval but I am just looking ahead. I'm looking to know if any of these can be done before I actually bring them up to my employer.

    1. This is possible but up to a certain time lang yata. After a certain period, magiging taxable na din sa AU yung income mo.
    2. What's your visa? If PR wala naman restrictions kung saan based ang company mo, kahit iba sa nag nominate na State. Kung 491, yung ang di sure kung pwede.

Visa is 190. Okay lang yon kahit Sydney ang HQ and Victoria nagnominate sakin?

VIC only "requires" you to stay and live in its state. Being a PR, you can work for a company located virtually anywhere in the globe that will allow you to work remotely. So long as you pay your taxes. Stay legal. ;)

Thanks for this! Because of this I remembered that I signed a nomination declaration with Victoria that I submitted when I applied. And yes, you're right. I am only required to live in Victoria

    Thank you!

AFAIK wala naman sa conditions ng 190 na restricted ka sa location ng company.

Any insights po if we decided to give birth in Aus? However, we are also considering the fact na baka wala pa mahanap na work din.. TIA!

I used BPI outward remittance. It can be done online (starting 10am PST) and linked to your BPI online banking account. Sa case namin, I only brought less than 10k cash as contingency lang.

It is normally covered, but depends on the GP if it will be covered in full or partial lang. It is also recommended to get private health insurance for cases na di covered ni Medicare.

Hi, you can give birth in Au and your baby will be added to your visa. (491) free I think of visa charge.

Or you can give birth in country where you are, bring him or her with tourist visa (faster-then apply 491 while onshore) or apply your baby’s 491 subsequent offshore visa that can take time can cost 4,000+ aud as subsequent main applicant.

Yes it can be hard to look for a job depends on the state and your industry. Medicare also takes time to process. Depending on your due date you can assess which one’s better option for your whole family.

Anyone interested in a big move guide? Specifically for PR, NSW at solo migrants flying from PH ito. Doing my research now and regularly checking this forum for insights/info, so naisip kong i-compile in a document since na-overwhelm ako sa dami nang need isipin, haha. Still a work in progress but sharing in case it helps anyone else: https://docs.google.com/document/d/18jQIdQkr1Rsq_qRxmexUqQwGdJ53Sax8iFKUfbi6fBE/view

Covers pre-departure to getting settled to managing your visa (as an anxious person na solo flight sa migration lol). Note, lahat ng info dito ay checked as of May 2023 and will continue to update it until it's my turn to make the move. Kumuha rin ako ng mga anecdotes galing sa forum, added sources sa mga naaalala ko para may reference. Hindi 'to replacement for official links/information, these are just based on my own research — so if in doubt, double-check/ask pa rin as this doesn't have all the answers :)

Destination address, can put the state you're going to or even just Australia (that's what I did). Contact number, whatever number you have.

Hello po question po regarding sa rental in australia. Mas okay po ba irent yung mga places na fully furnished na or mas okay yung wala po muna furnitures. Naisip ko lang po kasi since mag sstart pa lang po kami, wala po kami appliances.
