Some have luck having secured jobs while offshore. But swertehan lang dn. It would help if you have a date na when you’re arriving. You can tell them your arriving on this date. Some will entertain you for online interview but most likely para sa mga final rounds it will be face to face na.

Im a Mechanical Engineer. Ndi nman sa magigpit cguro but they follow a certain norm sa kanila unlike sa format ntin sa PH. Usually they advise to use key words from the job posting in your resume para ma-pick up agad ng AI sa initial screening ung resume.

Good day guys. Pero kung swefrtihin kayo at recognised ng OZ yong field nyo befirehand, then mnaybe it would be easjier for you to settle for a job that is directly related to your field of work.

Based on personal experience, preferred nila yung makaka start immediately and yung nandun na sa AU.

Last week a recruiter scheduled a phone interview and sinabi ko sa email na SG-based ako. He called me on the scheduled date, but when he realized na wala ako sa AU, di na tinuloy ang interview LOL mga 2 minutes lang kami sa call, mostly him apologizing for not noticing my address on my CV.

Same here! I got a lot of opportunities end of last year nung wala pa visa ko, and now the jobs are pretty sparse sa field ko so it’s a lot more competitive—gusto talaga nila andun ka. I had one fall through dahil gusto andun na ako for police checks, and I just couldn’t manage to fly on short notice at the time.

Good luck! I’m considering my options din (extend, or part-time MA). Apply lang nang apply :)

Hi batchmate @era222! Thanks for sharing your situation, hindi pala ako nag iisa.

Since visa grant last December, daily na ako nagsu-submit ng application sa Seek, LinkedIn, Indeed, etc. But out of my 100+ submissions, 4 times lang ako na-invite for HR interview.

Mag risk na sana akong lumipad to Melbourne then AirBnB for 2 months while jobhunting. But the worst case scenario is di ako makahanap ng work within 2 months and uuwi ako sa Pinas na luhaan.

Plano ko nga mag part-time fruit picker habang nandun, kaso need din ata relevant experience non? :D

Ipon muna kayo malala. Goods na yung 6mos worth of living expenses nyo, kung kaya more pa. :s

I guess I got lucky that I was hired before flying in, so we immediately had the means to recover.

Mahal kasi ang AirBnb, first of all. Then, your prospective rental home, mahal rin yan, need ng bond and advance payment. Living expenses pa, on top of that.

That's the only thing keeping you from moving on. Konting kembot na lang. ;)

Konting kembot na lang. ;)

    Salamat dito @_sebodemacho.

Plus 4-6 weeks worth of rental deposit.

Kaya ayun. Mas mabigat ang Cons over Pros.

While awaiting grant, ipon nang malala.

AU address (just City, State is fine) na nilalagay ko sa CV as well as AU number—it may get you looks pero nagkakatalo sa stages leading up to interview, as some prefer onshore candidates. Kapag nalalaman nila na offshore ka pa, even with a visa, minsan pass na. If may relatives ka naman dun, IMO mas okay since you can stay with them. Yan ang big hurdle ko right now since accommodation costs so much, parang at least 150k sa Sydney. If may relatives pwede ka makalipad to job hunt onshore for a bit, okay yung ganun :)

I feel you. Mahaba-habang pagiisip yung pagresign without a job offer, pero I think pinakaimportant is maactivate yung visa.

IMO it’s important not to rush too much but at the same time set a deadline for yourself—na kapag by X wala pa ring work, do Y and Z. It’s a good thing 5 years yung travel facility ng visa (I’m assuming you’re also on PR) and the residency requirement ng citizenship doesn’t start until like 3 years yata (not sure exactly) before eligibility.

Basta eto lang. Do not rush the move without putting much thought into it, regardless of and especially in the current state of the market.

If no one else will say it, I will. I know this, because it's human nature. But stop comparing or competing against others. Magkakaiba ng sitwasyon, magkakaiba ng disposisyon.

It's all about calculated risks and thorough planning. Be smart, or turn homeless and set to fail.

    Real talk lang, kabayan. ;)

Bro you have done whats correct. Securing interviews even before landing in Au but it seems like, moving to AU is the calculated risk you needed to take hehe.

    Godbless on your jobhunt.
