    @psychoboy

That's good new bai!:-) Hopefully tuloy tuloy na. Baka per hour numeration niyan. I had an interview with Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency two weeks ago. Before coming in for interview they asked me to fill-up forms for national security check and requested for a statutory declaration declaring that while I was in the Philippines, I have not been convicted of any crime. They also subjected me to a 100-point identification check wherein you need to bring in IDs and documents. Each ID and document has a certain number of points and you need to have a total of 100 points. I think it's standard for a government (semi-government) organization.

The interview was a bit nerve-wrecking, it was a panel interview. The panel consists of the HR Manager, General Manager for IT and Applications Business Manager. There was a stenographer, an audio recorder, a camera and a glass of water.hehe

It was one of the longest 45 minutes of my life. The questions asked were first testing my knowledge about the organisation. Then they had me talking for around 15 minutes to describe myself and my background. I think they were testing my communication skills. Then, the technical interview for which I really had to dig for my super powers and leverage on my experience.:-D Then the last questions were situational like - how do you deal with a difficult person?

@nins45 In my experience, yes, many agents and employers are looking for people with local experience. So you just need a jump start job and then once you gained enough local experience, you can apply for better roles.

If you don't have a local experience, I think it helps to have solid references who can attest your skills and performance. When the Aged Care Standards and Accreditation Agency asked for a reference, I gave them three. My Oracle Senior Development Manager based in Canberra, Project Manager and Software Quality Lead of IBM Philippines and a former colleague from AIG who's now based in Sydney. They all called the three and checked on my skills and level of expertise I've mentioned in my CV and in the interview.

@stolich18 Pray hard and be prepared, try practicing some possible Q&As like:

    1. What do you know about the organisation?
    2. Tell us about yourself? Your background or work history?
    3. Why do you like the job?
    4. Why should we choose you?
    5. and of course... since IT tayo, be prepared for technical questions which may not all be straight Q&As. When I was interviewed, they were challenging my answers. So I have to compose myself and think hard.

You can do it! I only had one interview since I got in Sydney and I nailed it! Best of luck!

@icebreaker1928 https://www.apsjobs.gov.au ...most government jobs require an Australian citizenship and passing a government exam like our civil service exam in the Philippines.

But most roles that require specialization (IT roles) are waived from these requirements. Like my role - Applications Administration and Development Officer- the opening was posted last March 3 and since then, they were actively interviewing candidates. First week of May lang ako nakuha, mas matatagalan pa siguro sila maghanap kung strict sila sa AU citizenship requirement.

Yeah it is per hour bai @JohnAEB - not too much considering 40/wk normally but yeah it is a good start and at least may local experience na... Not to mention the fact that it will help cover the rent and can bring food to the table!

    Happy for you mate... :)

Hello po, ask ko lang if gano katagal usually makahanap ng work sa brisbane? I've been here for 2weeks palang and I tried applying last week. So far, 3 interviews na nakuha ko, yung isa for a casual post naghihintay pako ng shift from client...yung iba finorward palang daw sa consultant yung profile. Mostly sa recruitment agencies sila e..I'm on spouse visa po pala. Do you think mahirap po makakuha ng work under this visa? I'm also planning to take Cert III courses. Mayroon din nagoffer for volunteer kaso ang layo sa amin so hinihintay kopa may job akong mapasukan. We have no kids yet so I want to work as soon as possible kasi hindi ako sanay na nasa house lang.

    12-Oct-2012: visa lodgement
    15-Oct-2012: Medicals done

@happywife23.. So having a spouse visa doesn't mean mahihirapan ka sa paghanap ng work, it will still depend on the qualification, experience and most of all demand ng inaaplyan mong type of job.

So tyaga2 lg po sa paghanap. Subukan lahat nga uri ng trabaho pra hndi mabored sa bhay.. ;)

06-01-11: Arrived Australia (457 visa dependent on my dad)
28-05-12: Lodged RSMS 857 visa (seperate from my dad already)

    30-10-12: Submit AFP check
07-11-12: Went home on a bridging visa B for holiday and wedding..:)
12-01-13: CO allocated and nomination approved
18-01-13: CO asked documents of my husband to be included on my application as migrating dependent..Thank u LORD!
15-02-13: Husband completed all requirements (police check, medical, english requirements and joint statement)
15-02-13: CO issued pre-grant letter instructing hubby to apply tourist visa to enter Australia in order our 857 visa to be granted.
27-02-13: Hubby applied Subclass 676 tourist visa.
    06-03-13: Hubby's tourist visa approved.
    16-03-13: Hubby arrived Australia.

@staycool halos cornered na nila market, iilan na lang nag-direct hire, kasi mas mura at tipid at less effort ang mag-hire thru agency, sila na hahanap ng candidate para sayo. So best to build relationships sa mga recruiters.
