    Hi, All!

Buhayin ko lang po itong thread. Any inputs naman po please re sending things (used personal items) from Pinas to Aus (Melbourne in particular).

Isip kasi namin ng wife ko dalhin ang mga pwedeng madala na sure naman magagamit sa Aus para less gastos especially on a tight budget. This is kung di magkasya sa ibibigay na baggage allowance ng IOM whether 40-60kgs each passenger pa. Mga items we're thinking are comforter, mga handed-down winter jackets. We're thinking bagging and vacuuming them to save space. Pero ang main consideration parin is what if mag-excess sa 60kgs each... Any suggested seafreight/airfreight company please?

    Thank you.

I reckon its not worth bringing comforter here its really bulky ... anyway the best way and the cheapest way is through philpost ...

through philpost as others have mentioned it will cost you 8k PHP that is 200$

going through local store here it you can but at least 3-4 of them for the same price

How can Filipinos residing or working outside the Philippines, and holding immigrant visa or permanent residence status register with CFO? Do they need to return to the Philippines for the registration?

Filipinos residing or working outside the Philippines whose immigrant or residence visas were issued abroad may avail of the remote (on-line registration or by facsimile). Only those residing or working outside the Philippines whose immigrant or permanent residence visas are issued abroad may avail of this registration.
@lock_code2004, so applicable pla sakin to kasi dito ko sa AUS nakuha ung PR ko at kailangan ba talaga to? Ung dad same din kami ng visa ngaun but nung umuwi sya ng Pinas last year hndi sya ngpatatak sa CFO at wla naman naging problema..

06-01-11: Arrived Australia (457 visa dependent on my dad)
28-05-12: Lodged RSMS 857 visa (seperate from my dad already)
    28-06-12: Done Medical check
    30-10-12: Submit AFP check
07-11-12: Went home on a bridging visa B for holiday and wedding..:)
12-01-13: CO allocated and nomination approved
18-01-13: CO asked documents of my husband to be included on my application as migrating dependent..Thank u LORD!
15-02-13: Husband completed all requirements (police check, medical, english requirements and joint statement)
15-02-13: CO issued pre-grant letter instructing hubby to apply tourist visa to enter Australia in order our 857 visa to be granted.
27-02-13: Hubby applied Subclass 676 tourist visa.
    06-03-13: Hubby's tourist visa approved.

    Thank you @JCsantos!

Will keep that in mind. Per Phlpost site (meron pala hehe), 15kgs ang for P8,000+. Sige will sift through our things after getting IOM baggage allowance and then decide.

    What about VEVO po?

Per grant letter, we are to call 131 881 to set up a password since we don't have a TRN. Upon further checking at DIAC website, this number is to be called if from within Aus. Did any of you made the overseas call to VEVO or called to set up the password via Aus Embassy in Makati instead?

@hard2handle you can use visa grant number instead of TRN. Check your grant letter if there's a visa grant number indicated there.

Jahe! Salamat @rolly04! Yung medicals kasi naming dati di ko din ma-check online ang status kasi wala akong TRN (that or di ko din nakita ng maayos) kaya I never bothered checking the VEVO site. Nakita ko na po using our Visa Grant Number.

Tama din po ba ang intinde ko na since we are on a Provisional Resident Visa, we are not required to get CFO dahil it is only "for those permanently leaving the country"?

Our provisional visa is only for 3years but we can apply for Permanent Residency upon completion of the required 1yr work and 2 years stay in the designated area.

Sayang talaga ang pera pambaon at oras.

To be honest, money is not an issue sa CFO; how much does it cost ba? P300 perhaps? That is just less than $8; not enough to buy you a meal here in Melbourne.

Pero when you speak of time, sayang talaga!!

Clarify your situation with people from CFO itself; mahirap na if you happen to find otherwise at the very last minute; yan ang sayang sa pera...

Salamat @TasBurrfoot. I was considering the fee, toll gate (from Laguna), gas, parking at of course food so definitely more than P300 hehe.

But yes, you are right. I have already sent e-mail to CFO. Try ko muna ang e-mail para sure para I have something written at baka iba-iba ang sagot pag tawag lang hehe.

    Thanks again!

Guys, can anyone here provide the process on how to get the visa stamp/labeled on our passports? Hindi ako masyadong secured/confident sa label-free system. Lalo't nasa Pilipinas tayo. Mahirap na. It presents an opportunity for corruption, IMO.

hello po. SIA with miles ka din pala.Same tayo.

Your additional payment na Php7500 is very good compared to ours, roughly SGD490, but di pa namin tinuloy ung pg book, kc gusto lng namin mg estimate, May pa nmn plano namin. 30Kg ung baggage allowance namin.

Ung 7,500 mo is sa surcharge and taxes na po ba un? Bakit kaya ang layo ng difference sa payment?

    @kulotski - not a problem...

OT but 3 tips I can give you if ever you take SQ:

    (1) Once you book call their customer service hotline and ask for extra baggage allowance by virtue of being a first time migrant. I did this previously and they gave me 5 kilos additional per pax; all that was needed was to provide a copy of the grant letter.

    (2) Book a flight on a A380 jumbo jet - best place I have ever tried!! :)

    (3) If you do #3; book a seat in the 2nd storey of the jet... Better space!! And in the back side of the plane, 2-4-2 and configuration. It will be very conducive for those travelling in pairs.

Book now, konti lang available seats for mile redemptions!!

I reckon its not worth bringing comforter here its really bulky ... anyway the best way and the cheapest way is through philpost ...
Comment lang ako cos im also planning to bring everything I can - yung comforter and other "stuffed" clothing - pwede naman i-vacuum wrap para mag-shrink to at least 1/2 of its size. May nabibili sa fairprice - it helps to make your clothes and beddings compact.

hi guys, did u also consider using sako bag?

Madali kc bitbitin, mai handle na, comes in different size, light weight din.
Doubtful kc ako baka madaling masira.
But mga clothes and blankets lng nmn ilalagay ko dun, nothing breakable.

    what do u think?

i think sako bags are practical pero considering na magiging mabigat sya pag nalagyan ng maraming laman, inconvenient lang magdala dala...though may mga carts naman sa airport...pero still, I tried to consider sako bags yun nga lang, problema ang pagbibitbit...lagyan kaya natin ng gulong?? :D

Hi bluemist, base on recent experience, we brought our kids baby books including a certification from our Ph pedia. I had it photocopied (cost mo 10 aud at auspost) and certified (for free) at a Justice of Peace here. When we went to the clinic (they're the ones who'll send the records to the immunisation registry) all they did is just check the baby books and thats it. So dont bother certifying it. Just bring records that will show your kids immunisation.

    Hope this helps.

    Hi kulotski, my tips are:
    1. kung may kids kayo, don't bother bringing a lot of hand carries. Hassle sa pagbuhat yan. Di naman magbubuhat mga bata e.

    2. You can use the balikbayan box, just buy at Kultura the balikbayan box "bag". It has handles too so it can easily be transferred. The box is only 120 pesos and the bag is only 1000. Cheaper and lighter than any large luggage but downside is you'll need trolley. Since check in sya, i think its just okay. Meron din balikbayan box bag na may wheels but i dont its practical pa...

    3. Use DHL instead of philpost, i only paid 7.5k for a 25kilo box. Its faster and safer.

repost ko lang.. since napag uusapan na rin about fares
    guys need help..
i checked with iom and they provided me a quote for two
    exhange rate of 43.80
    USD416 x 2 = USD 832 (PHP36.441.60)
    Travel tax incl phil tax = PHP19, 878 (PHP 9,939 / person)

    total of PHP36,441.60 + PHP19,878 = PHP56,319.60

Tama po ba ito? parang ang mahal. esp dun sa travel tax?

please share your thoughts po. For Feb 2014 fare.
That is way too expensive! Kami PAL, around 80k, 3 adults, 2 kids 1 infant. Yung infant with seat pa yun ha...
