@LokiJr haha sorry po. Full-time Finance po ang work ko pero I'm studying dn at the same time and will be able to take LET next year. :)

Then after ko mag-LET next year maybe magtake po ako ng MBA.

Like you said po maggain muna ng experience while I'm still young. Tho I may enter OZ in the future through Fiancee visa kaya ngco2llect ako ng credentials and experiences pra mkapasok sa mraming work. :D

Ask ko lng po what other fields are in-demand na you think I can do/study while working at the same time so I can start now?

Thank you po for your patience I can feel you really want to say in my face "You're dreaming Kid!" haha! Yes po indeed I am. And I want to make that dream come true. ^_^

I think it's doable. From what you're saying lang, parang andaming nangyayari sayo ngayon at kung mag-aapply ka ng visa, just choose one. Are you applying as a finance specialist? Are you applying as a teacher? Are you applying as a student? Or are you going to Australia as a fiancee of another applicant?

Not to bring any bad vibes but I would just like to share my experience in job-hunting here.

I am an ECE who shifted to IT back there in the Phil, about 5 years in semicon and 4 years in IT as Test Analyst.

Coming here (Sydney), I mostly applied for IT positions (Tester, Test Analyst) and unfortunately for about 50 applications (direct and agencies), no one entertained me for any interview (agencies do but I never reached a client interview). You might say I was too picky and that I should have applied for more advertised positions but no I was not. I tailor-fitted my CV to every vacant position that was advertised. You might say, maybe I don't have enough qualifications; maybe true but there were positions where I felt that I met all of the requirements. I have experience in both Waterfall and Agile SDLC, Manual and Automated Testing.

However, through a lot of prayers and some luck I managed to land 2 interviews. I have a workmate back there in the Phil who immigrated here before me and he recommended me to his boss. Luckily, a project that I did in the past is needed in their current company and so I had a strong chance of landing the job. The other interview was because I got referred by someone from an extended family. One of these applications is in the final stages already so I must say I am blessed. This, by the way, is after 1.5 months of applying.

If you happen to read the experiences of our kababayans in philippines.com.au, they shared the same experience. I also noticed a trend that when someone gets here in AU, they tend to lie-low in the forums (mostly philippines.com.au) when compared to how active they were before coming here :)>- . So I guess, we are having the same experience in job-hunting.

In conclusion, as per my experience applying as a Test Analyst, I must say that one would be extremely lucky if he/she happens to land an employer interview after an online application. What worked for me was that I got referred by people I know or worked with from the past. But maybe, it would depend on your specialty like that of sohc who is a SysAd and who is so blessed in his job-hunting. Maybe, it also depends on what state you are in. But I must say job-hunting here is tough and one must be ready and patient when coming here.

Thanks for sharing bro. I think even here in the Phils, it's really hard to land a great job nowadays. I'm thinking pagdating diyan, halos lahat ng salary packages are not that bad and big enough to support your daily needs and to start some investments. Tama po ba?

@Bryann yup true, dito kase sweldo tlga ung constraint more than the availability of the jobs. Naka-200++ interviews na ata yung guy before sya nakakuha ng work. Need a lot of prayers and perseverance.

You're welcome @Bryann. With regards to IT opportunities in Phil and basing from experience, I think Phil has a better environment as compared to AU when you are a new migrant. In the Philippines, at least you are invited for an interview before you are rejected. In here, you get the usual "because of the sheer number of applicants ..." reply from recruiters. I would say that in terms of pay in the Phil, there are still some who give a good amount if you just keep searching. A lot of startup companies (foreign companies putting up Phil branches) arise every now and then and they usually give good pay to attract talents.

With regards to AU pay, I don't know but I only had 2 interviews to base my opinion from. One of the companies give me an outright expected pay (market rate as provided in some studies) even if we haven't started with the interview yet and the amount is in the minimum side of my expected range. So maybe, because they know that job market is tight for new migrants, they try to give the minimum. But the other company was a little bit gracious and they offered the median pay. So I guess it depends on the company.

When comparing what you are going to save from your salary (phil vs au), there should be 2 factors, your net income and your lifestyle. Assuming lifestyle is the same, I have computed that I can save the same percentage ((1 - expenses/net income) x 100%) when comparing the highest income I had in the Phil vs the minimum pay they offered me here. So hopefully, this gets better as you get some experience barring any economic problems.
