@aldousnow May mga accounts naman silang inooffer dito na walang minimum balance required tulad ng Access Advantage at Online Saver kaso yung isa may monthly fee at yung isa purely online banking hehe so limited hehe...

most likely not, centrelink has a waiting period of 2 years before you are eligible for benefits. example, my sister is a permanent resident and married to an australian but she has only lived in oz for 1 year. her baby when born is NOT eligible for baby benefits yet. she needs to stay in oz for a least 2 years before she can start claiming for baby benefits.

as far as I know kids already have support from centrelink....
ang kelangan ng 2yrs is yung adults..

I have a friend in Melbourne, newly arrive... both of them don't have work yet but they are getting financial support from centrelink because of their baby... 350aud per fortnight...

pag nagkawork daw sila, liliit yung support...

@icebreaker - good to know that centrelink still has soft spot for kids. Back in the 90's when they introduced the 2-year wait period, they still provided for new migrants with kids. 400+/week if you have 2 kids, not bad at all. Mas mababa na budget ngayon, but I find that to be still very generous.

Although I must say they will only give it to you after at least a few weeks. Kasi syempre they expect may baon pa rin yung parents bago nag-migrate.

Income test for Child Care Benefit
    Approved care
To qualify for Child Care Benefit for approved child care, you need to meet an income test. You do not have to meet an assets test. You need to lodge a claim for Child Care Benefit, even at the zero rate, to be eligible for Child Care Rebate.

The amount of Child Care Benefit you can get for approved care depends on your yearly family income. You need to tell us about any changes to your income. Remember that you can update/advise your family income estimate online.

This income test is effective from 1 July 2012.

The maximum rate is payable for actual annual family income under $41,026 or families on income support.

Zero rate is payable over the following thresholds:

Number of children in care Income limits
    1 $142,426
    2 $147,594
3 or more $166,656 plus $31,495 for each child after the third

    @li_i_ren wow!!! so they are earning more than 142K... :-O ^:)^ ^:)^ ^:)^

ako kaya kelan magkakaganyan ang income...

@icebreaker1928 you can try Medibank. If you want, I can give you the name and contact no. of the lady who gave me a good package (i.e., waiving most of the waiting period). She's a Filipina married to Aussie. I bet she can help you on this. Just let me know.

@LokiJr eto yung mga extra covers. For example, your health insurance covers optical items - there is a 6 month waiting period from the date na nag member ka before you can avail of that benefit. Most of the extras have 12 months waiting period kaya if these can be waived, meaning pagka member na pagka member mo pa lang e pwede mo na ma-avail, magandang offer na rin yun.
