Hello po, gusto ko lang itanong if how is the IT Industry in Australia specially Network Engineer. Tapos nag hihigpit narin dito sa SG lalo na after the new rules implemented.

Computer Network and Systems Engineer - (ANZSCO code 263111)

    Visa Grant - Nov 2013

@LokiJr thank you, even the other members are suggesting that I take up something listed in SOL kasi nga you can apply for PR even without an employer. I'm actually considering Architecture, since that is included in SOL and my father is also an architect himself. I figured this may be a useful course for us in the future. Any idea on how the architecture industry is in OZ? thank you again.

@ringo, lahat naman po ng developed countries naghihigpit na kasi maraming ngang gusto sumubok ng bagong buhay sa mas maunlad na bansa...same goes for Australia so if you have the capacity to apply for a visa...do it as soon as possible kasi maghihigpit pa lalo yan as the years go by :) Karamihan po sa mga forumers ay galing IT industry so yes, maraming demand sa Australia hehe

@audrey26, I would look at your situation this way...Saang trabaho ba kayo masaya at ano ang main skillset ninyo?

@LokiJr I appreciate the advise, believe me, yan din ang nasa isip ko. It just happens that along with starting a career, I also have a goal of making a life for myself outside of this country. I live in Saudi Arabia currently and if you don't already know, career opportunities for women and freedom is very limited here. Obtaining a PR is really part of my goal, I'm sure hindi lang ako. Unfotunately, my work experiences mainly consist of various deskjobs lang, or whatever is available so I'm pretty assessment is out of the question na. Kaya nga ang goal ko ngayon is to start anew, hopefully in Oz. I have already taken my IELTS last Feb, overall 8.5 so no problem there. Thank you again for your advise.

@audrey26 Ok got it po...so balak niyo po ba bumalik muna ng Pinas tapos dito na lang mag-aral? (unless you have that much money saved for the student visa)

Kung gusto niyo po ng clean slate sa nominated occupation ito po yung SOL sa Australia...lahat ng occupation na andyan in demand sa Australia (it will not guarantee you a job but at least there's a job market for these skills)
    http://www.immi.gov.au/skilled/_pdf/updated-sol.pdf

Bata pa naman kayo so mabuti siguro one step at a time. IELTS is a huge step, so next would be work experience and the right nominated occupation.

@LokiJr thank ulet sa reply. Yup, I checked that updated list, and even ung mga previous list, dyan ko nakita na kasama ung Architecture. Based on sa mga replies sakin ng ibang members and other people I have consulted, it's better daw to take a course that's included in SOL kasi I can apply myself for PR even without an Australian employer to sponsor me. Atsaka plus points din daw if I have completed at least two years of study in Australia.

I'm not sure pa if sa Pinas ako mangagaling, right know I just want to gather as much information as I can about the pathway that I'm going to take. Feeling ko nga din useful kahit papano ung mga work experience ko, at least man lang kahit sa paghahanap ng part time/casual while studying. Thank you ulet ah. I would appreciate the other members' input as well.

@audrey26 - you can also take a course if the skill/occupation is in the CSOL (not just SOL), once completed, you can then apply for State Sponsorship.. so really don't need an employer aswell to do this.. you can apply by yourself.. this is visa 190 in skillselect..

so my suggestion, is also to check the specific State's Occupation List..
    example lang:
    - archi might not be in demand in Sydney, but is only in demand in perth.
    - graphic designer might be in demand in all states...

so kung alin ang mas maraming demand, un ang may chance na ma-sponsor ka ng state..

Is it possible na yung napili mong i-take na course based sa list sa SOL or CSOl hindi na sya kasama or in-demand after 2 years?

@gemini23, musta po yung bakasyon sa Australia? hehe
Yes, that's very possible po. My nominated occupation was in the SOL two years ago and now it's not. Same goes for jobs such as accountants...there's a speculation that it's going to be taken out of the list in the future, so kung kaya mag-apply ngayon, do it as early as possible.

As for the CSOL, it's a broad list so hindi mawawala basta basta yung occupation doon...after all, kelangan mo ng some kind of sponsorship to get a visa e hehe

@lock_code2004 thanks for the clarification.. So kapag kasama sa SOL ung course, it means I can apply for PR independent directly regardless of the region or state whereas, kung sa CSOL, I would have to apply for state sponsorhip in a state or region that has a high demand for that course/profession. THANK YOU! Ang tagal ko nang hinahagilap ung difference between the two lists. In any case, after the course, I can apply myself for either 189 or 190 even without an Australian employer? Corerct me if I'm wrong..

I guess the question now is which of the two the quickest way to obtaining the PR, I know I sound like permanent residency lang and iniintindi ko, pero I want to be able to apply for it sana before I'm 30y/o for the additional points.

isang malaking thank you ulet :D

yes you are correct, you can apply for these PR visas even without employer..
-189 - apply independently as long as skill is in SOL Sched 1
-190 - apply with state sponsorship for skills in either SOL Sched1 or CSOL Sched 2.

    - 489- if you have relative in a regional area.. this is a4-yr Temporary visa..

@audrey26 - here are the differences...
    For 190 (SS)
    - you have extra step to apply for the State Sponsorship
    - at dahil may SS additional points ka, mas mabilis ma invite for visa application SkillSelect
    - therefore mas mabilis ma-allocate ng Case Officer

    For 189 (Independent)
    - walang extra step to apply for State Sponsorship
    - average waiting time for invitation and allocation depends on your points..

So, if your total points now is >70pts (without SS), then mabilis lang yan..
Currently, ung may mga SS kahit 60-65 pts lang, naiinvite agad sila, dahil in demand talga ang skill nila sa State na un...

@lock_code2004 Thank you talaga! At least now mas clear na sakin. Now all that's left is for me to choose a course, preferably sana something close to my interest and the career that I want if not exactly that.

Based on some of the other threads, my impression is application for PR is usually a waiting game more than anything else. Are there cases where narereject yung application for either SS or Independent? Or talagang yung paghihintay and procedures yung pinakamahirap na part?

Also, hindi ba kapag you're on student visa, the duration of your visa is just the same as the duration of your studies. So to be able to apply for PR, you would have to apply for some kind of bridging or transitional visa, tama ba? Although I'm not too worried about this naman kasi marami namang options for that, I'm betting on the new post-study visa for this purpose. :D

@audrey26 kung okay nmn ang documents mo, wala namang reason para ma decline ang application... but other reasons can be character/police clearance and/or medical results.

normally ang pinakamtagal is pag gather ng mga documents, preparation for ielts..and waiting for the skills assessment..

yung mga previous years, umaabot ng 1-2yrs ang application after masend mo lahat ng documents for visa, ngayon it takes 1-3 months... so malaking improvement na yun..

if you look at my application, i submitted May, CO allocated in June.. provided na meron na akong mga police clearance, natapos na sana sya agad.. kaso nadelay ako dahil i have to get 3 pcc from 3 diff countries..

yes, if you are waiting for the decision of your visa application (while on a valid visa in australia),
they will approve your bridging visa..

@gemini23, common siguro dyan mga blue eyes hahaha...sana namotivate pa kayo lalong magmigrate dahil sa bakasyon nyo hehe

@audrey26, the government made the 'bridging visa' easier now pero yun nga, may ilang taon ka ring iinvest sa pag-aaral sa Australia para magbunga yun so magiging magastos siya pero kung kakayanin mo naman yung hirap at gastos, it's going to be worth it I'm sure :) If you want to do away with the studies part and go straight to work, posible rin naman yung state sponsorship, marami ring nagtatagumpay dun :D

    @lock_code2004 thanks..

@LokiJr I wish I could do away with the studies. Kaso like I said before, medyo halo halo kasi ung work experience ko dito sa Saudi Arabia, dahil nga kulang na kulang ang oppportunities, so kadalasan kung ano nalang ang available. Not to mention that all these work experiences are not related to my degree.. hay...

Eternal gratitude to anyone who can explain the salary system in seek.com ads (e.g. package, super + bonus, p.d., etc.)

Hahaha. No need for eternal gratitude pare.

Which is at least 9% of your annual salary.

Base + Super: Kunyari base salary naka-advertise 80k + Super.

P.D.: Ibig sabihin per day. Mga on the sides ika-nga.

P.H.: Same as above, yun nga lang per hour ito.

    Hope this helps.

Idagdag ko lang...P.F. per fortnight or every two weeks.

@Metaform, naghahanap ka na ba ng offer? hehe...Look for employers that are willing to jack up the superannuation... Yung salary increase kasi hirap inegotiate pero yung super hindi mahirap hingin kasi may tax concessions sila pag mas marami sila binibigay sa employees nilang ganun

@Bryann Then a hats off should suffice *tips imaginary hat*.

So kung 38 hours ang isang work week, 7.6 hours lang per work day. May bayad O.T.? :D

Hmmm parang ganun na nga po. Ako po for example, 9am to 5pm pasok ko. Usually kasi dito mga half an hour lang po ang break per day. As for O.T., depende po sa contract. Usually kapag I.T. wala po O.T. Sa 8 hours per day kasama na breaktime kaya naging 38 hour work week.

Promised me a few things after 6 months. Including an out of the country trip and car. Basta po sipagan lang natin, we'll make it big dito kahit foreign land. Additionally, discouraged po usually ang O.T., in my experience at least.

@Bryann Music to my ears yung sinabi mong walang O.T. Sa I.T.

:) So better to get a good rest and prepare for the next day ahead.

Sir I'm telling you, you will feel very well compensated sa effort at trabaho na ginagawa mo dito. :) Hehe. I am very happy dito, no complaints. :D

    HI guys,

I'm a newbee here and I also want to share my experience working here in Au compared to Manila. This is my first job in Au and I work for 7.25 hours per day, Mon to Fri. Flexi time pa meaning I can come between 730 AM ~ 9 AM and complete the 7.25 hours required for a day with 30 minutes min. lunch break. So I can go home as early as 4:00 PM. The best thing, kapag naka-accumulate ka ng tinatawag naming Accrued Time Leave (ATL) pwede mong gamitin yun to take a leave. Ibig sabihin, kapag I worked more than 7.25 hours a day, I can use that extra time to take ATL kung kailan ko gusto. Travel time from office~home is only 5 to 10 minutes.

In Manila, usually 8 hours a day ang trabaho ko, Monday to Friday at 4 hours during Saturdays. As I live outside Manila (i.e., in Cavite) I have to spend a minimum of 1 1/2 hours on the road going to my workplace, ganun din pag uwi ko. I need to be in the office by 8:30 AM, kaya kapag sobrang traffic, siguradong late! although wala namang bawas kaya lang it affects your overall performance during evaluation.

Salary comparison: Yung forthnightly salary ko sa AU is equivalent to my 5 months salary in Manila. Kaya ano pa ang hinihintay nyo mates?! apply now as immigrant and experience the Work-Life balance na kailanman hindi nyo mae-experience sa Manila.
