    1. Open an account online while still here in the Philippines (NAB) - Free of charge po ba ito?
    2. Ipaconvert ang pera from Peso to AUD
    3. Itransfer ang pera in AUD sa NAB (pero paano po ittransfer sa NAB?)
    4. Then during our flight to AU, magdala lang po ng enough money and wag magdadala ng malaking amount?

Step 1 is correct; look at the fine print of the account that you are opening, malalaman mo doon if may account maintenance fee or wala. But as per my knowledge naman kasi, the accounts that are offered specifically for migrants are without fees naman. (mine was NAB i-savers and CBA Goal Saver)

Step 2 and 3 are done simultaneously; sa source account mo ng PHP, ask your bank to do a telegraphic transfer (also known as TT), in order to do this, kailangan mo ng account details sa Australian bank mo - this should be given once you have done step 1. Anyhow, your Phil bank will give you the FX rate and the corresponding fees, tanunging ka ilang milyon ang ipadala mo. Execute the transaction and it should be good...

After say 3 days, confirm mo nalang sa relationship manager mo in Australia if the amount was already credited to your account. Ayun, ayus na!!

Although there is no problem naman in bringing a huge amount of money, as much as possible iniiwasan ko ito as there is always a possibility na mawala mo ito. Ako for instance, I just brought around 2K in cash. All the rest were already TT'ed months back. BASTA IF EVER YOU DECIDE TO BRING MORE THAN 10K, always declare sa Pinas, sa transit point mo and sa entry point mo in Australia. If you don't declare and makita nila when they do a random check, I will not be surprise if they will confiscate your money... :)

    All the best!

I have been traveling to AUS and Overseas a couple of time never had heard of such and never experience such ... custom people are more busy checking drugs rather than money you are bringing ... too much watching border security na pakitang gilas lang pag may camera

as far as i know, hindi nmn nila kukunin ang pera mo (sa pinas kasi possibleng kotongan ka), sa AU immigration, they will question you, and/or hold the money while doing the investigation, and/or probably flag your name for illegal activities (money laundering etc)..

Hindi naman talga bawal magdala ng more than 10k, you just need to declare and prove na legal ang source mo ng funds.

Phone budget ko is $30/month... May kasama ito na 500MB na data, 250 minutes of calls (local and certain countries outside australia which unfortunately does not include Pinas), $30 worth of credit, unlimited Linkedin, Facebook access, unlimited text within australia...

Very good deal na ito as far as I'm concerned... Oh yeah, plus I can buy discounted tickets to the movies (at $10/pc) :)

I forgot to mention that if you are bringing in your phone ( 3G/4G ) it is cheaper :) and you can do a no lock-in contract .. kasi yung 29$ 39$ comes with a free phone

we call BYO ( bring your own) ...

@nfronda sorry mam, I don't intend to flame or offend anyone, just stating my opinion :)
IMHO I strongly discourage to use vodafone, they have the most unreliable network here in Australia... maraming ibang provider na kaya tapatan ang vodafone with good service.

marami silang free pero ang problema, hindi ka naman makatawag dahil wala sila signal etc...
better stay away from vodafone @staycool if you want peace of mind.

    it's your decision though. :)

TPG is a Internet Service Provider but recently they extended their business reselling mobile contracts

3 lang po ang Major Network dito Telstra / Optus and Vodafone ... the rest is resellers
