    hi guys! just lurking around the forum and napasilip lang sa thread nato :) anybody here from SOR? (south of river) Im from spearwood. Perth is booming na and dami ginagawa infrastructures at the moment. a lot of growth since few years ago. when we first came here, mabibilang mo lang ang pinoy pero nowadays wherever you look, you will see kababayans around. Jobs i think is pretty stable pero some companies would want local experience so it may take a while to find a job pero basta hanap lang ng hanap, eventually you'll get one. Trading hours here sa malls and shopping ctrs used to be til 5pm lang pero ngayon binago na nila to 8 or 9pm for some malls esp in the city and may trading nadin on Sundays unlike before so pwede na magrocery outside office hours.

    transpo is not as efficient as compared to SG. galing kami SG prior to coming here and un ang isa sa mga naicompare talaga namin. taxis are rip-off. its very handy if you guys know how to drive kc yun ang primary means of transport ng mga tao dito (or for most, at least). you can get a cheap reliable car at perth gumtree or carsales.com.au. also, better if you have a driver's license from pinas kc you can use it to drive around here for 3mos then when you have your assessment and everything done na, ndi nyo na kekelanganin mag logbook kung may phil license kayo.

    If you are intro trades (skilled work), or mga engrs, mechanical, manufacturing rel to mining etc mejo madami dami trabaho dito sa may bandang SOR particularly in kwinana, canning vale, bibra lake etc kaya madami din kababayans within our area mostly those who are on 457 visa.

    accommodation, ndi maxado madali humanap ng bahay (although not impossible) when coming here the first time kc most agents would want na you are presently here to view the unit/house and ung iba mejo hesitant pag wala pa trabaho kc isipin nila where will you get your rent money from. and mejo tumataas nadin ang rent these days and because of the influx of people coming here everyday from interstates and outside of au kaya ung iba kahit mataas kinukuha na. so mejo common naman sa mga kababayans natin ung naghhouse share for a while, until such time na makakuha ng marerent nila na bahay or better yet ung papagawa na sila ng bahay. :)

    Feel free to ask kung may mga tanong pa po kayo and ill try to answer kung alam ko. ill be lurking around for a while kc tinutulungan ko ung sister ko to migrate here and i completely forgot the basics na since the last time we did this so need ulit maglurk mode. Welcome to Perth!

    @Hotpotato004 Very informative yung post mo regarding sa perth. Galing ka rin ba sa SG? kelan pa kayo nag migrate dyan? San ang line of work mo? Bale we are planning to go there by this year pero mas ok sana kung may work muna me bago kami lumarga buong family.Pag ba bumili ng bahay, is it advisable kung resale yung bahay or bagong gawa?

    hi Filamokio, taga AMK kaba sa sg? ;) Yes sg kami for 3yrs then we migrated here 3yrs nadin kami dito. kakarenounce lang namin ng pr last month kasi no plans naman na din of going back there. I am a nurse here and c hubby is architect although he's studying engg at the moment kc wala maxado demand sa mga architects dito. you can apply for jobs online while you're there para in case makakuha ka na ng work bago pumunta dito much better.

    in terms of bahay, kung bibili ka ng existing na, mas mahal sya pero ayos na, i mean wala na maxado kelangan gawin esp kung near new ung bahay, lilipat kanalang. unlike bagong gawa, start from scratch, takes almost a year before you can occupy (from contract signing, loan grant, design stage, building stage gang sa handover ng bahay) and you get to customize ung layout ng bahay mo kung san ilalagay si kitchen, kung may alfresco, may theatre room etc. in short mas exciting :)

    - may magandang coverage ng transpo bus/train (kunyari wala pa pambili ng kotse)
    - at affordable na area/suburb

    @Hotpotato004 Taga SG din kami pero not from ang mokio, bale alias ko lang yun kasi magandang pakinggan yung Filamgmokio ha ha ha. Matagal na kami here sa SG, in fact citizen na kami pero sa current situation here, medyo hindi na healthy specially yung animosity ng locals towards foreigners (although local na yung status namin here pero we felt na outsider pa rin kami, senti mode). Bale mech, engr me sa oil & Gas industry while my wife is IT engr. We applied for PR (WA as regional sponsor) and I am the primary applicant. We obtained our PR approval just this month lang (Prof. mech. engr level 1 yung ANZ Code ba yun) pero yung first entry should be not later than Dec, 2013. I planned to look for job first then go alone for few months then bring my family by Dec, 2013 kasi nag aaral yung mga kids ko (Primaray 2 & K1). Ofcourse, wifey started to browse yung new houses ha ha ha, kasi ang gaganda naman ng new build eh. Yung mga advertised price ba including yung land package? God Bless

    hi lock code, naku mejo mahirap tanong mo, usually karamihan kung san sila makakuha ng bahay or ung iba san makakuha ng work. dami naman suburb dito with good access to bus if not train station. ung bus kc ung mga pumapasok sa kaloob looban ng mga suburbs and madami naman bus stops, un lang depende interval ng dating minsan after every 15mins, minsan 30, pag wikends and night time 1hr na.

    kung ang line mo siguro eh sa office like IT, accounting, banking etc, cguro the closer to the city the better. mero within city may mga studio type apts for $280-300/wk (not sure) or you can check outside cbd pero close proximity padin to city ctr like victoria park, belmont (im speaking for SOR kc mejo mas kabisado ko south than north). Kung Engr ka pwede sa may canning vale area na saturated ng mga Asians (Singaporeans/Malaysians) madami asian food, Kardinya, Bullcreek or Further south like South Lake/Jandakot/Cockburn/Success/Atwell/ Kwinana/dito sa Spearwood ok din. Ndi naman super nagkakalayo interms of pricing unless pupunta ka talaga sa mga high end (mosman park, peppermint grove, attadale, claremont, nedlands etc)

    ung ibang suburb naman na mura mura talaga either malayo na (wellard/rockingham/waikiki/bertram)

    or mejo madami public housing/aborigines/unemployed (coolbellup/gosnells/bertram/hamilton hill) <-- madami din pinoys although may mga series of break-ins and burglaries na.

    punta ka sa streetadvisor.com.au andun ung mga reviews about different suburbs kung san ok tumira depends on your preference.

    ah. i guess ndi kayo mahihirapan ng work kc ang alam ko madami work ngayon esp engrs with years and years of exp. mejo foreigner mostly engr dito kc mga local esp lalaki they prefer tradeskills over professions kc pag tradie, tafe lang cla nagaral (parang satin mga vocation course) mas mura, 6mos to 2yrs lang and minsan mas malaki pa take home esp pag mining or kc longer working hours. unlike sa sg na oty tau dito bayad per hr. My hubby is actually studying Mech.Engg at tafe atm and is shifting professions na kc mas madami opportunity for enggrs esp mech engg so good decision to leave sg. :)

    school ng kids, theyll def enjoy kc ung anak ng kaibigan namin nung nagtransfer always looking forward daw to go to school kc they just play, ndi maxado pressured sa school, parents dont get to study din hehe, and 1-2assignments lang per wk that u need to submit the following week pa. the kid is 10yrs old so for K1 baka puro educ activities palang with v.few assignments.

    maganda ung mga new build. nakakatuwa parang the sims in real life dba :) nakakatuwa din puro landed property dito kc sa sg puro hdb.lol average house and land sits at $400-450 for a 4x2 br house. pero depende padin sa suburb. at the moment sa dami nadin kc ng nagpapatayo over the years kung gusto mo makakuha ng less than 500k kelangan mo na umusod further down or further up kc the more na malapit sa city mas mataas ang price.

I heard na morning session ang kinder at primary at karamihan sa isang school, magkasama yung kinder at primary.

    We're also flying to Perth this April and will probably book a short term accommodation (2weeks) in Perth City since we don't have friends/relatives there. Anyone have experience booking through stayz.com.au and airbnb?

    Later on we'll rent/buy somewhere more affordable. From my research, medyo affordable pa sa Ellenbrook/Aveley/Baldivis areas and bago pa yung mga houses. It's about 30km away from Perth. Anybody have experience living in these areas? (May ongoing bush fire din nga pala dito this week).
