Di po sir. SA po kami. Regional area po siguro kaya mabilis. Pero my friends in Adelaide mabilis din po, 4-6 months lang din from application to pledge.

Depende siguro kung saang council. Sa kin yung invitation for oath taking by email from home affairs. Then day before oath taking , sms from council naman.

Share ko lang po story ko...

Finally became an Australian Citizen last 14 July in an event at the Brisbane City Hall.

It was a beautiful event. quite surprised how packed it was.. heard there were around 500 new citizens who took the pledge. The new citizens were sitting side by side (i.e. no social distancing), but the event was ticketed and we were wearing face masks, so covid protocols were in place.

However, they did not give out the certificates one by one on stage, it was already handed-out during the registration.

I was a bit moved by the story one of the speakers told, about his father who was from Germany. In late 1940s, as a young man, paid GBP10 to travel and immigrate to Australia. Offered a job and became a labourer as soon as he arrived, and just started to make something out of his new life in Australia... Little did he know, that one of his descendants would one day become the Lord Mayor of Brisbane.

As a new migrant, for most of us, it probably took us a heck of a long while to find a job... and for sure paid more than 10 pounds to get to Australia

Overall, though it was different (with the masks and all), it was a great and probably an emotional event for some. Maybe, one of the descendants of those new citizens will one day become the Prime Minister of Australia

Finally, natapos nadin yung journey towards paging 100% official Aussie, timeline:

May 2020 - citizenship application lodged
May 2021 - citizenship interview / exam, and approval same day
Aug 2021 - virtual ceremony
Sep 2021 - AU passport released

Pwede po ba malaman mga steps nyo para makapag pr sa AU? Planning po to apply sana. Malaking pera po ba dapat laman nh bank account pag magapply? Salamat po

Ako po ba tinatanong niyo? Matagal na kasi nung nag apply ako. Pero nag agency kasi ako. Dito ako humingi ng tulong.

Nung na-approve na PR ko, wala naman show money. Never din hiningi bank statements ko. Nung dumating na ko au, walang tinanong about money. May dala ako certain amount of cash, credit card, at cheque book. Wala naman tinanong sa immigration. Hindi din nila tinignan.

We were approved last March, so nagfollow ako last Sept 18 through email and I requested for virtual ceremony. And we had our virtual ceremony this week. Kala ko marami, pero kami lang ng family ko, saglit lang wala pang 5 minutes tapos na. Then ipapadala na lang nila ang certificate.
