hi all! i posted this on Q&A a few days ago- probably the wrong discussion board.
i haven't been back in pinoyau in maybe 5 years now. how's everyone doing in this pandemic? keeping well and safe, i hope. i'm just wondering, for those who have just acquired your australian citizenship, do you guys immediately apply to re-acquire your philippine citizenship (for dual status)? or you just wait it out until you have to to travel back to the philippines? thank you po sa may sagot nito xx

    Hi

Has anyone here applied for citizenship recently in Victoria? Mine was lodged on 30 July 2021, and since then, Home Affairs Department has not dropped any hints yet as to when my test schedule is. It appears Victoria is lagging in terms of sorting applications quickly.

Meanwhile, any tip on fast tracking applications or any sort of enlightenment as to why its taking awhile would be greatly appreciated. It's quite a challenge to just carry on hearing others experiences vary greatly.

    Thank you in advance.

    Hi @Captain_A

Thanks for your response. That's insane, 2020 omgeee.

Yeah hopefully reopening would somehow speed up the process. I need to travel in June next year, and the longer it gets delayed, the slimmer the chance of making my travel plans happen. :(

@Gabetrotter1 medyo gipit sa oras kung target mo by June makapagtravel with AU passport. With reopening of borders, mas lalo sigurong babagal ang citizenship processing kasi yung ibang COs ay mapupunta na sa processing ng other visas.

    Thanks, @engineer20 and @agentKams.

Do you somehow guys know any way to speed up the process? Though it appears applicants from Victoria seem to have taken a heavier toll on delays which could have been the result of Covid restrictions, I still see some cases where citizenship applications get completed in less than a year.

As mentioned, I have a trip coming in June 2022, and with my PR visa is expiring in the same month, I would be torn between applying for a returning resident visa and wait for my citizenship's approval. In my opinion, I don't think applying for a returning resident visa is smart; however, maybe the only way, whilst your citizenship is pending. I was, in fact, thinking that maybe I could use my travel reason to fast track my application, and hope that it would fall under compassionate grounds.

What do you guys reckon is the most suitable course of action in my case?

Looking forward to seeing your response.

If I were you, mag-aapply nalang ako ng return resident visa if you really need to go back sa Pinas. Why gamble for something that has no assurance? And I don’t think there is such a thing as compassionate grounds for fast tracking applications.

If your grounds for travel is really important for whatever reasons, bakit may pang hihinayang to spend xxx amount of dollars. I went home last 2019 and did not bother the cost of my travel just to get home as it was REALLY REALLY needed.

Just my two cents here. Thanks and hope everything goes well on your end. Cheers.

    Hi @audreamer101

    Thank you for your response.

I didn't say I was concerned about spending money on my trip. I just find it dense to obtain a 'returning resident visa' whilst a citizenship application is in progress.

As for my destination, I'm afraid it's not our home country. I am en route back to London to visit my sister who has been left with her kids alone whilst her soldier husband is currently dispatched in Syria for military exercises hence I brought up 'compassionate grounds' and help her carry on with her parental duties. However, if you reckon Home Affairs won't consider my travel reason, then maybe you're right, 'returning resident visa' might suffice.

    Sincerely,
    Gabriel

good evening sa lahat. im not sure if natanong na ito, before.
im eligible to apply citizenship, kaso my toddler and husband has been here for 2 years plang they are both pr na din since 2020 (489 to 887), my question is, if mag aapply na ako pede ko isama ang anak ko 4 years old ( 2 years residency plang sya nd 1 year PR) or she has to comply with "4 years" residency and sa husband ko nlng sya sasabay when he is eligible? gusto ko sana mag tanong before ako mag check sa migration lawyer.
Reason ko lang to apply ahead is just in case na mag bago ang rule atleast citizen na ako and surely soon after my hubby and daughter will too. thank in advance sa mga sasagot po

Pwede mong isabay yung anak mo sa application mo. Your husband naman needs to fulfill the residency requirement.

good evening sa lahat. im not sure if natanong na ito, before.
im eligible to apply citizenship, kaso my toddler and husband has been here for 2 years plang they are both pr na din since 2020 (489 to 887), my question is, if mag aapply na ako pede ko isama ang anak ko 4 years old ( 2 years residency plang sya nd 1 year PR) or she has to comply with "4 years" residency and sa husband ko nlng sya sasabay when he is eligible? gusto ko sana mag tanong before ako mag check sa migration lawyer.

Hi guys, question lang, pwede po ba mag pasa ng application for citizenship if expired na yung PH passport? or need valid yung passport to be able to submit the application? mag expire na kasi yung passport ko soon and iniisip ko kung papa extend ko yung validity ng passport ko para lang makapag submit ako ng citizenship application. thank you!

i would recommend, when safe to do so and you have plans to apply for dual citizenship, to renew your passport.

but you no need to wait for renewed passport to apply, gawin mo lng yung sinasabi sa taas with your expired passport and update your details once new passport is available.
